Maybe someone could give an opinion on this dream that I had 2 days ago. It didn't leave me frightened or feeling bad in any way even though in real life I dislike snakes and really feel bad when I encounter one.
Okay. I was walking down a path, formerly a railway track, to the homestead where I was born but in real life have not lived there in a long time. I was walking with my son (who is now an adult) but in the dream he was a child.
Lo and behold, that path was covered in black snakes, a few large, a few medium, but mostly quite small. Just tons of them. Couldn't avoid walking on them! But I was not upset about this in the dream. That was it. Then I woke up.
Here is the strange part: it was apparently winter time. Snakes can't live in the winter!
To dream of a poisonous snake represents corruption or contamination. Areas of your life that spoil everything associated with them. People and situations that can't be trusted or that you wish to avoid. A snake could also reflect your own lack of integrity or deceptive behavior. A snake may also represent a bad influence. Possibly a person that you don't like.
Thank you. But these were not poisonous. They appeared to be garter snakes (common in our area). Totally harmless and well liked for their consumption of vermin. Though in real life I don't like running into them. In my dream I wasn't frightened of them. I just thought they were a bit of a nuisance and didn't want to step on them, but there were too many.
I'm thinking this dream has something to do with your childhood, the way you were raised, or ideas, opinions you adopted from that time. This is because you are going to the old "homestead".
The railroad track could represent a path that was laid out for you, but in this dream the railroad track is no longer there. This could mean that you did not take the path that your parents, or others expected you to take, but went your own way.
The child represents your male side. The age of the child is the age that you were when whatever these snakes may mean occurred. Were you still living there at the age of the child?
What the snakes mean is hard to say. They are not poisonous which seems to be a good thing. Also you are not afraid of them, also a good sign. Because of their form they can be some sort of sexua| symbol.
As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive change.
I hope this helps you to a better understanding of your dream.
I really appreciate your putting a positive slant on this. Thank you kindly for your time and effort.
You know, over the years I've gone thru periods where I had repetitive-type dreams, and then they just stopped. In my opinion it's the repeated dreams that hold the most meaning. This thing with the snakes seems to be a one-shot thing.
I'd love to have my own fulltime Dream Interpreter!
I know absolutely nothing about dream interpretation but I thought I would take a stab at this. The way I imagine this scene is some brown leaves around, patches of frost on the ground, you are on the right side, your son on the left. The snakes crossing your path is like a river, a black river. The black river represents the flow of your life in the past, especially your childhood. Now you are on a different path and you are no longer polluted by the experience of your past. You look at the snakes with no fear, they are no longer a part of your experience, but you still don't want to walk over them because you don't want to pollute yourself with the past.
