I haven't been around curezone in very long time and thought I'd return for 7 days to help answer questions since this is the place that helped give me the drive to research and find a cure that worked for me!
If your wondering how I cured myself check here, it's very well documented, I encourage you to read every word on this site including the comments section before asking a question:
hey!
my problem started when i was heavily biting and licking my lips last winter.
i don't think it had anything to do with my diet, since it was just the same as always and it was not unhealthy.
i'm not allergic to any foods or at least i don't know about it. i've tried eliminating various foods but it left my condition totally unchanged. it is not in any way affected by what i eat.
i stopped using balms and ointments half a year ago and manually peel them every 2-3 days.
when i leave them alone, a crust forms and gets ever thicker. they don't peel on their own, the skin buildup simply ever increases.
how was your condition triggered? did you bite your lips? what happened when you left it alone? did huge "cornflakes" form or did they just peel on their own after a while?
Do you have a list of vegetables and sauces/dressings that follow your diet? I did read your entire site, was just wondering if you have a more comprehensive list. Or even what oils/ingredients to avoid.
When your lips started healing, what was it like? Did they heal from the outside in? Or did everything just take longer and longer to peel? Or did you just grow healthy skin one day after a peel?
Hey all, just I few things I want to add before getting to the questions:
-I eat only fruit everyday for breakfast. Then for lunch I eat 3 eggs fried with garlic and onions on 14 grain bread, I eat this EVERYDAY as a replacement for meat. I only eat a very small (deck of cards size) portion of chicken or beef once or twice per week if I even eat any at all. You should stick to eggs everyday in the beginning (fried eggs only).
-Organic extra virgin coconut oil is a MUST USE, I can't stress this enough.. you should be loading up on this stuff. Someone I was chatting with on FB a while back said just the coconut oil alone improved his lips greatly and a few others confirmed it. It's truly an amazing supplement, you can eat 5-8 spoons of this stuff per day its incredibly healthy!
-JUICING If you aren't doing it yet get on it! Not only are there a thousand benefits but I've confirmed that it slows the peeling cycle even if your still making other poor diet choices.
-Avoid White Sugar , white flour, soy milk, cheese, cows milk and low grade oils. *I'VE CONFIRMED 1000% THESE FLARE UP PEELING*
*also check the comments section, a few people posted success stories about how the protocol helped slow and even completely stop the peeling cycle. someone was even kind enough to share pictures! this is even more proof to suggest EC is a diet and lifestyle problem just like 98% of other sicknesses..*

Ok onto the questions..
--
fregasedo - not to doubt what your saying but you would be surprised by how many people tell me their diet is 'normal' or 'healthy'. in reality the average persons diet is very, VERY far from it, check the blog and see how closely your diet matches the one laid out.
--
laffingrass - I would just stick with very common fruits, vegetables, grains and eggs especially in the beginning.
Only when you've stopped the peeling cycle can you very slowly start introducing new foods to your diet and see how your body reacts to them. If they flare up your lips and start a heavy peeling cycle you know its a food to avoid forever.
As for the sauces, anything 100% natural or organic should be OK just read the ingredients to double check there's no diary, chemicals or added sugar.
Pretty much everything you need to avoid is listed on the blog, there's a whoooole bunch haha :)

sillylips - I healed from the inside out and don't believe in a topical cure. Only the body can heal itself, topical creams and lotions can at best hide the symptoms but wont ever cure you (IMO of course :)
Basically how progress happens is that the skin goes from thick and peeling multiple times per day to thin and peeling only once or twice a week until you stop peeling all together.
thx for your answers
i have 2 more important questions:
i stopped using balms and ointments half a year ago and manually peel them every 2-3 days.
when i leave them alone, a crust forms and gets ever thicker. they don't peel on their own, the skin buildup simply ever increases.
how was your condition triggered? did you bite your lips? what happened when you left it alone? did huge "cornflakes" form or did they just peel on their own after a while?
@fregasedo - yea I had the same buildup. theres no definite way to say exactly how the condition was originally triggered because its impossible to prove without over complicating things. My theory is lowered immunity due to poor diet, unhealthy lifestyle, drinking smoking etc. I got EC in highschool when I was living reckless. Other people might have been born with a weaker immune or digestive system which would explain how some people didn't abuse their body to get EC, regardless immunity and diet play a huge role in curing this or pretty much ANY condition.
yes I bit my lips in the past to peel the skin. usually I licked them until the skin got white and soggy (nasty) then bit it off and spat it out. then it was blood red and raw underneath for 1 day, then nice and somewhat normal for 12 hours, then more light skin buildup, then heavier buildup, then by day 2-3 cornflakes, then peel the skin. endless cycle. sometimes I would go through a full cycle in 24 hours but usually over 2-3 days per cycle. Unfortunately I know all about the cornflakes lol.

@sillylips - it's hard to say because I can't really monitor what your eating and give you advice day to day to make sure your doing everything right but if you do your best and really study and follow the point I'm trying to get across in the blog and in my first post up top I would say a very significant improvement within 2 weeks maximum.
remember the people who take the most action in life succeed the most so start the plan tomorrow without questioning anymore and you will have way better chance of stopping your peeling than others who never try. overcoming your own thoughts and doubt and keeping faith to stick to a solid plan is one of the hardest things to do in life, most very successful business people have mastered self doubt and the drive to follow through with a plan. please try it, do it for yourself you wont be disappointed!!
I cook with and eat the specific listed coconut oil on everything, everyday. I get some olive oil in my diet but its all through other foods (bread etc). A little olive oil is ok but the $5 per big bottle stuff is equivalent to a low grade motor oil.
Did you know consuming low grade oils puts a MASSIVE burden on your body. picture 30% of your vital energy being used to digest and assimilate low grade cooking oil for 2 hours after consuming it. its all about immunity, something so small as eat low grade oils can put such a strain on your body which is already trying to recover everyday if people would just take the burden off and allow it.
--
@laffingrass - just some regular 14 grain bread, I just make sure the ingredients are pretty clean of chemicals and shitty oils and only eat 2-4 slices per day max. heres a link:
Ideally you want organic bread but if you can't afford it then settle for the highest grains with the least chemicals. you can see in the ingredients there is bad chemicals and preservatives in this bread but its still decent overall.
PS - don't worry too too much about wheat and gluten in 14 grain bread your not getting much I don't think.

@145078 - I don't follow. My pics or 'photographic evidence' are on the website. those are my before and after pics and dhamma is underneath. It's not recent but my lips have looked like the after shot for months and months and haven't had anything like the before pic in well over a year. I haven't peeled one flake of skin in the past months.. Could you link me to the recent post your talking about where I imply I'm not cured yet? I'm so confused lol.
If my diet goes to shit for an extended period of time I will peel again for sure but as far as I'm concerned no peeling for even 2 straight months is cured as long as you feel you can maintain it and do.
I would just ignore all the 'novel ideas' floating around and focus 100% on internal approach because people with EC are going to be constantly recycling old, unsuccessful ideas and theories, its just like any other disease.
Understanding how only the body can heal itself is so simple and yet so hard to grasp because of how we are taught and programmed by the pharmaceutical sponsored media since birth. Building your overall health and immunity is KEY, and to do that you need steady high quality nutrition and you need to ease the toxic burden off your body.
It is nice to read your post after a long time. I have been following a similar diet (i'm vegetarian) since last year. Lips still peel but cycle has been extended to almost 8 days, earlier they peeled daily. I have had personality disorder and mild compulsive disorder so it might be impeding full recovery as both these conditions leads to mental stress.
Did you notice any change in Fordyce's spots and white slime after dietary changes?
Have you tried pranayama (breathing techniques of yoga)? If yes, to what extent does it work.
Could you tell us what's your sleeping pattern. How many hours, what time, how many hours during daytime. Was your sleep interrupted during those nasty EC days?
Now it might sound ridiculous but do you think that masturbating (male) daily could have a negative impact on healing. OCD, you know, he he. Well, i do think indulging too much in sex does affect our immune system contradictory to what we have been taught that it is a healty way to release... blah blah blah.
I've concluded that stress, sleep, fresh air, exercise and diet alone are responsible for ALL diseases and ALL of them can be treated if we can manage these factors...that's why so many queries regarding these.
Hey MontrealHomegrown, thanks so much for posting this!
I have had EC for four years now after swallowing these absurd "acne-pills",and your blog changed my life and my whole perception of the world.
I found out about it about six months ago, and it brought back light into my life! After changing my diet (and my overall hygiene) my lips got so uncomparably better that I've returned to university after three or four years of in/out from the school system! I just can't thank you enough for that.
There's one problem, though.
Although I can immediately see the beneficial effects of your diet (and overall way of life), I still have one big problem with regards to my diet...
And that is OVEREATING. I am HIGHLY conscious of the enormously detrimental effect of such a conduct, but I still can't help overeating at EVERY MEAL...It's kinda desperating when I know that it might be the single most important factor to the continuation of the peeling cycle, but I just can't help eating too much (even though I'm a skinny guy!).
So I would highly appreciate having your opinion on that! (maybe you have experienced something similar)
And I think this has to do with the fact that I went vegan a few months ago; maybe the ABRUPT change in my diet suddenly deprived my body from all the nutrients it had been used to, and this has lead me to feel a constant need for those nutrients.
This is the ONLY obstacle for me right now. I'm feeling so much healthier than before, but this one little thing considerably affects my condition.
For example when I went to Austria for a week last summer and I only ate very small amount of fresh food, combined with regular exercise, fresh air (changes from Paris!), sun and joyous feeling,my lips immediately got considerably better, but now with my overeating habit it seems like the peeling cycle has come back...(I even have a "OVEREATING WILL RUIN YOUR PROCESS" paper in my room, but with no results...)
Please give me your opinion on that..!!
Thank you so much
You mentioned in your last post months ago that you believed you were moving towards a cured state but had not reached it. On your website, the picture of your lips show healing lips rather than healed lips. Now, would you say you are cured, are moving towards that cure, or in remission, for lack of a better word?
What I mean by cured is that your lips are back to normal. A special diet is no longer required, the elasticity of the lips has completely returned, and there is no evidence of a cycle.
There have been many novel ideas introduced in your absence. One just involved gently washing the lips and another was avoidance of SLS in hair products. All those that found a cure left before being completely cured themselves.
Your return gives us the possibility of closure. There are no questions about your process that haven't already been asked, and I'm sure you knew this when you stopped moderating your website. Something I haven't seen is photographic evidence that you're completely cured -- pictures during a bad state and a good state.
can you give me a typical day of what you eat and how much and approximate times, like how many eggs for lunch, how many slices of bread...typical dinner, etc etc..
would greatly appreciate it, thanks for all your help in this community
Lets say I wanted to have some drinks maybe twice a month or so, what form of alcohol is the best for us EC'ers to drink - and what to do before/during/after...like drinking lots of water, any food to eat with it, etc etc...
I also have a couple more question:
You listed white table salt as bad. Do you mean the white fine grain salt? So then is Kosher salt good? What kind of salts can I be adding? And can I eat ground black pepper?
Potatoes are also listed as ok to eat, does that include sweet potatoes?
and one more question... if you're still here.
When you say you're cured, does that mean that your lips function just like normal people's lips now? You can go swimming, and snorkeling, etc, and not have to worry about either lips turning white or harsh surfaces rubbing against your lips?
I probably have missed the window in which you were answering questions. However, in the event you are still willing to answer a question, here goes. I saw from your older posts that at one point you were pursuing TCM and acupuncture. I am currently doing this. What made you stop seeing the TCM practitioner? Was it cost or lack of progress? I am being treated for latent heat in my stomach and large intestine that was likely brought on by a serious case of scarlet fever nearly 20 years ago. I am only 3 weeks in to this treatment, but am noticing some modest gains. I'm curious to know how your TCM experience ended.
