I recently went to a dermatologist for athlete foot. While researching causes I discovered Candida could be the cause. I then looked in my mouth to discover the back of my tongue to be white. Three days later my throat began to hurt and I discovered a yellowish/ white coating on my left tonsil. Many web articles automatically assume HIV is the cause. Since discovering these symptoms I have suffered from anxiety and extreme stress. It seems that as soon as I discovered the whitish tongue things went down hill fast.
Here's some back ground of my health history.
I am a 30 yr old male with no known health issues other than acid reflux/ GERD for the past 4-5 years but have never been diagnosed. My diet has not been the healthiest. I consumed a good amount of fast food per week and a good amount of refined sugars. I also have used Tums and Prilosec for years for the acid reflux. I took antibiotic for acne in my teens for many years as well. I normally consume large amounts of alcohol once to twice a week and smoke 7-10 grams of high grade marijuana per week for the last 3 years. I recently stopped smoking marijuana about a week before I discovered my symptoms.
I went to a medical doctor a few days ago. He said my tongue was not white and thought I was possibly suffering from Strep throat but tested negative. He total blew off the idea of oral thrush but never tested for any fungal infection. He suggested that I was suffering form withdraw symptoms for abstaining from the marijuana. Its now been 5 days since the visit and my throat is still sore and the coating still exists. I have always had great oral hygiene. I have a dental appointment scheduled next week to discuss my oral health issues.
I am trying to get a game plan to eliminate my Candida. From my research it looks like my lifestyle has caused many of my issues. Any advice or ideas on causes is appreciated.
