Hi Folks, I'm new here, and looking for input on what seems like an unusual set of circumstances I have.
I'm 40 now and have had headaches in the back of my head all my life, plus some skin problems early in life that became bad acne and chronic dehydration by the time I was 25. I also have itching problems when I consume sugar or coffee. They are worse at night.
A clinic in Switzerland found, in 2006, that I have GSTM-1 null, meaning my glutathione levels are lower than should be (but not non-existent). They recommended bi-weekly injections, but they were too costly to maintain for more than a few weeks. This genetic condition is common amongst caucasians, so I'm not sure why I'm having a worse time dealing with it, but there's no other clinical explanation for my feeling of toxicity given that I've never had root canals or Amalgam fillings.
Now, a few more years have passed, and my fatigue, joint pains, and headaches have worsened, so I did a heavy metal urine test, and it showed toxic levels of copper, arsenic, lead, mercury, thallium, and cesium, plus low levels of iron and zinc.
I stay off of gluten and processed foods for the most part, and that helps my acne and digestion, but doesn't effect headaches. I don't drink alcohol, and I've tried going on and off caffeine for various lengths of time, and it makes no difference, except possibly making me dryer when I'm on it.
I also want to test for other environmental toxins, but I haven't found very many affordable (or even expensive) options for that.
So I started a DMSA protocol, nearly drowned in all the possible method and dosage options, but finally settled on a fairly intensive regimen- 600mg every other day, taken in 6 divided doses. Then, on the "off days" I supplement with Metalloclear, Zinc, Iron, multivitamin, Vit C, and a little Zeolite.
What happened was that my headaches started getting better when I was ON DMSA and were worse when I was off of it. Most of the forums show the opposite reaction is more probable. Now I want to take the DMSA every day. The reason I've read for stopping some days is to allow glutathione levels to replenish, which won't happen much in my case because of the genetic condition, but I found 500mg suppositories online, and I'm going to use those daily, making me feel better about daily DMSA.
So I'd like some feedback on several aspects of what I'm saying-
* dealing with GSTM-1 deletion
* taking DMSA daily
* taking glutathione daily
* detoxing other poisons (because why wouldn't have I have overloads of those too?)
Overall, I seem to have lots of the same biomarkers as people with autism, but I have no cognitive impairment. My mom had 4 miscarriages and some amalgam fillings, but she's 70 now and almost in better health than I am, so it's hard to discern that I would have gotten these problems from her.
Dr. Mark Hyman, formerly had high mercury after working as a young doctor in polluted China and consuming lots of tuna. He went to ten other doctors before someone realized he was mercury poisoned. It is a good story but I don't recommend his chelation protocol. He explains some of the basics about the impact of genetics. He says he has the same GSTM1 problem. http://drhyman.com/mercury-get-this-poison-out-of-your-body-85/
I hope you will do your homework before jumping in. I provided links to more information in my previous post. there is much more on this in the Files and Links of the frequent dose chelation yahoo group.
I have a doctor that has monitored me with followup tests.
I get my low dose DMSA from vrp.com.
I certainly hope people won't take it if they have silver-mercury Amalgam fillings present. I also hope they will take doses every 4 or so hours around the clock for a few days so when a molecule of chelator mobilizes (kicks up) some Hg and then later drops it, there will be another dose of chelator coming soon to mop up. You don't want Hg that is not doing much damage in your arm to end up in a hormone receptor that holds on tightly or your thyroid, adrenals, brain or liver where it can do much more damage.
Chelation when done safely can really help a person who has a heavy metal problem, but will likely be dangerous if done randomly. Be wise. Get better like so many others.
If your mom had Amalgams then you were born with the burden, where your mom most likely was not, or at least had a reduced amount. It is proven that mercury is most damaging to a fetus and infant. Also I didn't have any problems until my fillings started to erode and chip.
You also get a toxic dose of mercury from vaccinations. Hence the horrific rate of autism these days as children are born with several generations of mercury already in their system and a ghastly amount of vaccinations "needed" from birth! Wrong forum for this but my brother had seizures for years after his MMR and he's lucky he's not autistic. I did NOT vaccinate my child.
I totally agree with the other posters about concern over your protocol. Please do more research on Cutler protocol and success stories from frequent/low dose.
Anyway the itching from coffee and sugar and acne is classic candida. It loves sugar, makes you crave it, then rewards you by dumping a load of toxic by-products into your system when you eat. Candida is almost always present with mercury and after antibiotics.
Are you hydrating properly? You should be drinking several liters of distilled, remineralized water along with unprocessed Sea Salt . You need the water/salt ratio to be right for you to actually retain the water in your cells. Chronic dehydration causes tons of issues by itself. Google the " Water Cure " for more info on this.
Can you please tell me how you found out that you have the GSTM-1 null issue with glutathione? I want to get tested for this too....b/c I feel unnecessarily toxic after not really having any Amalgam feelings...and then doing 11 months of heavy metal chelation and feeling soooo much better. I sense I may have this problem...what kind of testing do I need to get done?
This sounds like Sherry Rogers territory--she is the expert at figuring out detoxing--she only does phone consults now as she is semi-retired but she'll read your big blood test & help figure out EXACTLY what other stuff you need to detox. I have had other docs--extremely knowledgable--try to read the "Cardio Ion" test she recommends but it is so extremely precise and specific that only her body of knowledge (she is incredible on the detox stuff specifically, all the specific chemicals and the specific methods to get them out) can explain it easily.
The low glutathione is the killer element to this--you have to be SO CAREFUL detoxing if you have low glutathione. I met someone who has none and almost died, she has extreme MCS but she has this very special glutathione patch made for her in Europe (she's not rich, just desperate) and it works okay though she has to be extremely careful with MCS still.
So I would call sherry rogers asap because with low glutathione and all the detoxing you have done and may be having severe reactions to this is no joke!!! There is this whole thing with releasing the toxins if your body can't process them that is really dangerous and she knows exactly how to calibrate that and figure it out.
She has a newslettter that is worth the 50 bucks subscription fee but I would just get an appt with her if i were you!! Serious stuff here!!!
I would get in with Dr. Rogers before she fully retires. It's $300-$600 but it is worth every penny. It's a "nonpatient" consult.
