What a great community this is. I hope you can help me.
My Dad has been diagnosed with primary sclerosing Cholangitis and has a liver infection which requires the use of IV antibiotics. He has been on this for a month or so and I see his condition deteriorating. He has scarring and growths in both ducts including the primary bile duct.
He is staying in hospital and I see the food they are serving him isn't helping either. It's so infuriating to see them serve hospital food (yesterday was corn beef and cheese cake) to a person who is operating on 25% liver function. They plan to operate and cut out part of his liver to relieve the blockage in the ducts.
Has anyone out there had anything similar to this happen to them and if so, what would you suggest I do? I am well aware that he needs to have an alkaline diet and be taking liver supporting supplements like milk thistle, dandelion and such. Is there anything specific about PSC that requires a specific protocol and how to relieve the infection naturally? I have searched the web to no avail.
Thank you all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would choose very large amounts of colloidal silver and some oil of oregano instead of the maim-stream antibiotics - which ultimately may well do much more harm than good. A good probiotic to help restore intestinal flora damaged by the antibiotics is also likely a good idea.
A supplement such as Jon Barron's KGP Flush might help break up calcified stones which may be blocking the bile ducts (Note, I have no affiliation with Jon Barron and Baseline Nutritionals).
For the infection: I would also try collodial silver on an empty stomach, high dose Iodine on an empty stomach, olive leaf extract, and aged garlic.
For the scarring: Neprinol, if it's too expensive, approximate the formula with either enteric coated nattokinase and serrapeptase or nattozimes and serrazymes also some digestive enzymes.
To replenish good gut bacteria, Dr. Ohhira's probiotic and Swansonvitamins also sells a relly good soil based organism probiotic formula.
Some other ideas:
To heal the liver: milk thistle, swansonsvitamins.com also makes a really good formula called "Liver Essentials." The KP Flush product in the above post also looks great.
Also make sure your dad is getting adequate magnesium in the form of magnesium chloride. A tbl of lecithin granules every day might be really good too. Some malic acid is good, along with bitter herbs.
To keep his immunity high, make sure he's vitamin D3 sufficient with 5000IU daily, and look into low dose naltrexone.
Thank you so much for the reply but I couldn't get him out of hospital in time and the infection decimated his liver irreparably. He didn't make it. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate you taking the time and sorry I didn't answer you sooner.
