Hello...ok here is my latest issue - hopefully someone can offer some advice/help for me - I am sorry this is so long...
Several months ago my troubles started with my eyes...I had an eye infection I couldn't get rid of & my site has been very blurry ever since. I went to 2 specialists - finally I was told blepharitis. I was put on antibiotics for several months. I bought new makeup, and new pillows & pillow cases, and tried my best to keep things clean & not touch my eyes then anything else etc.
I tried to have yogurt and acidophilus as required as I didn't want a yeast infection down there. My eye infection still comes & goes, sometimes I can see better out of that eye than other days - it has good days & bad days but that's not my full issue.
In February my foot became infected - it started with the big toe. I had gone in & told them & I suggested a fungal infection in my nail bed but I was told things were fine with my foot & was sent home. A week later my toe was infected, it was wet, dripping, pussy, my skin was falling off, omg it was gross....I went back in emergency. I was put on 7 days of IV therapy and some oral antibiotics & creams. The cultures mainly stated both Strep & Staph bacterial infection, and they were concerned with partial fungal infection as well. They were worried about the infection going to the bone or blood stream. It seemed to clear up fine after a few weeks or so and things were okay - my foot looked kinda normal.
I bought NEW socks & shoes & did everything to keep my feet clean and dry.
Mid March, my foot started to blister on the top & had red bumps all over it, I went back in & was like help its back - again I was again told things were fine, its in my mind...several days later, same things massive infection again, puss, dripping, skin falling off - this time it spread to all my toes & the top of my foot - I was sent to a different hospital & put back on 7 days of IV therapy (different stronger meds then the first time) and then 2 weeks of oral antibiotics & creams.
It started to clear up, but wasn't fully cleared up, now its coming back again. This last time they stated the cultures were the same containing both staff and strep bacterias, as well as having athletes foot now they think on that one foot.
I am keeping my foot aired out as much as possible - keeping it clean, dry and applying my topical cream they gave me. I have a few days left on the penicillin but my foot is not fully better.
Due to being on Penicillin (different types) daily since October (OMG - that's 6 months!) I am tired of all this and now I have developed yeast infection, ear infection and I get some areas on my skin that gets itchy rashes.
It's like these infections and/or whatever are rotating in my body, one thing goes away & boom another comes up, sometimes like in March - I had all at once, uggg...so sore & itchy...I even asked the doctors about parasites or fungal infections & they looked at me like I was crazy. I think I have a massive candida problem.
I think my body needs a rest from all the penicillin & IV meds. I don't want to lose my foot tho, that would suck. Right now its not pussy but my foot does ache & hurt a lot on the inside, that hasn't stopped since February - and its itchy as hell.
I am wanting to go to more natural methods in curing all this (well right now I just want it cured!).
I have been struggling for a few years with various health issues & depression.....I have however, quit smoking & pretty much quit drinking alcohol - I am working on quitting sugar & processed foods now - as well as my number one thing I would like to quit now is Gluten. My eventual aim is to be living a Raw diet & lifestyle - or close to it anyways if I can. I am thinking too of possibly doing some cleanses or fasts? Can a person do them with all this stuff going on?
Anyways, any suggestions about the foot or what I should do? I have tried tea tree oil & oil of oregano, they didn't seem to help but maybe I didn't try them long enough?
From the sound of it seem the antibiotics might be the issue here. It has most likely weakened your immune system greatly and that is your primary defense against all the symptoms you have. I would recommend the follow for you to do below. It will require for you to limit your intake of certain foods and a trip to your local health food store to get a few things that I have recommended:
1. Choose cotton underwear and do not wear tight trousers (Moulds love warm, dark spaces with limited airflow).
2. Avoid damp environments where airborne moulds are ever-present.
3. Exercise everyday to relieve stress. Aerobic exercise is especially useful in treating candida as Candida and other fungi do not thrive in a high-oxygen environment. Also, fresh air and regular exercise have a positive effect on immunity.
4. Cut all foods containing yeast including bread, pizza, crackers, pastries, muffins, mushrooms and ferments like soy sauce, cheese, tomato paste, beer and vinegar.
5. Avoid refined carbohydrates as they are known to have a depressant effect on the immune system.
6. Get organic coconut oil which cost about $5-7 dollars from a health food store and take 2 tablespoons of it every morning. It will help give relief from the inflammation caused by yeast (candida), externally and internally to your body.
7. Get apple cider vinegar RAW. I would recommend the one from a company called Bragg's which is about $6 dollars. Take 2 tablespoons of it the moment you wake up from bed and before you go to sleep. It helps encourage the growth of healthy bacteria, which in turn minimizes the overgrowth of candida and balances your body's pH level.
8. Eat lots of leafy Green Veg's every time you are hungry.
9. Get probiotics supplement which cost about 20-30 dollars. Use as directed
10. AVOID ALL SUGAR BASED FOODS
This will starve the candida and reduce you inflammation. But please this will require effort on your part and since you did take action by seeking help I know you can do what i suggested above . I can tell you from personally experience that this WORKS because I have done this myself.
Also i recommend you check out http://www.yeastinfection.org
to get a better understanding of your issues and how expunge it
Thank you all! I totally appreciate your feedback & help!
Prince - I went & got the coconut oil & the braggs apple cider vinegar - should I be doing something with baking soda too? like J said? I found the Probiotic - I will get it this weekend as I get paid tomorrow.
Anthony - Good luck with your tests. I have been tested for diabetes as so many people in my family have it, I am at risk - so far I have been ok & those tests have come back ok. They keep checking me cuz they are very worried about my foot infection & if I did have diabetes. As for diet, I love veggies - I am not so much a big Meat eater but I do enjoy it time to time, I love fish though.
Jasmine - yea I have been on a lotta meds in the past year or two. Hmm I am trying to think...I had my gall bladder removed in January 2011 - seems since then I battled more things off and on and my body hasn't been the same since my surgery.
These are the meds I have receipts for - there could be others too - I can't remember but OMG no wonder I have problems and am a mess now.....
It started with being on Apo-Transmadol/Acetaminophen while taking Apo-Cephalex after my surgery, then a couple months later I was on Ciprofloxacin, then I was on Clarithomycin, Minocyclin, then had a several month prescription of Doxycycline (I took it daily from Oct - Feb - I still have more of this stuff on file till Oct 2012 if I wanted it) then that took me into this year & my foot problems in February...I was on something, I think it was ciprofloxacin again...then I was fine for a month or so then got bad again and just finished a 2 week run of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium .......(and now my foot is getting bad again)...those not to mention the two times of 7 days of daily IV therapy of who knows what they put in me. I went on two occasions for a total of 14 days.
I don't want to go back for more and I Don't want more penicillins etc.
Thats WAY TOO MUCH!
I just am mostly worried about my foot getting all pussy and infected again - it is very itchy & has little blisters on it & I feel it acting up. I can do this other stuff & work on that, but what if the skin starts totally falling off again & my foot is all drippy with pus again?? (I know gross - yuck!) what do I do? When i first went in I was using Hydrogen Peroxide & Alcohol - the hospital got mad at me, no no no they said. Soap & water & some polysporin ointment if necessary - nothing to the skin, keep it as dry as possible, just take the meds they gave & keep the foot clean.... uggg.
I hate this... I just want to get normal & healthy again....
Thanks again - this weekend I will do some shopping to get a couple things.
After 2 years, The diet that worked for me was a ton of greens, some lentils, some black beans, some seafood one serving per day. Greens and lemon for alkalinity. I think apple cider vinegar would do the opposite though, my problem went systemic pretty much as soon as I started with it. I found salami and bacon to be HORRIBLE for the problem. Followed by steak and bananas. My problem looks like diabetes management and I am in the process of tests now for that...I found a balance where I manage blood sugar, while alkalizing like the vegans do. While pork had no sugar in it, it made any starch rot in there and rashes erupt all over. This key to blood sugar management is why diabetics have to watch everything basically and it could help you go after the fungus. you NEED to get the body to the right PH to kill a pathogen and a high meat diet will not allow it.
looks like your immune system was compromised due to prolonged use of antibiotics that caused you to have some form of fungal infection. yeah i suspect it might be candida. you might want to try candida diet. no FAT, no MEAT, no oil, no sugary starchy foods, just green vegetables like lettuce, brocolli. i include rice, fish, fruits on my diet though to prevent starvation but just a little of each of it and i dont eat it all at once. my diet is inspired by the comments in this forum and just less than a week of this diet blisters on my feet improved SIGNIFICANTLY. i have dishydrosis btw, i have this after i took the strong antibiotic ciprofloxacin for my cough. hope this helps..
you might also want to try to asks your doctor to prescribed you some nystatin.. actually personally thats my plan to asks for some nystatin as soon as my doctor come back after out of town trip. im just thinking it MIGHT help you too.
Try soaking your feet in hydrogen peroxide (HP). It will help get rid of the localized infection in your foot because it contains oxygen. Try getting 35% HP and diluted it.
As for the rest of your body you would have to do anticandida diet, rotate antifungals, and detox. Oh,and get a good probiotic to replenish the good bacteria in your colon.
Thank you. I will try that some. Ugg. I am worried about my foot & the infection. My foot seemed to be doing better today, then tonight it seemed worse again. :(
My big toe is infected, mostly around what's left of my toenail. You know, when I went through this before I asked the hospital to just remove the toenail & they wouldn't. Now its all a mess again.
My other toes, aren't really as badly infected yet, the toenails are fine on all of them...I have/had huge blisters all under each toe. I took two pics of my foot tonight to show you my lovely candida issues, athletes foot, fungal thing & strep & staph thing I have going on.
(I hope attaching the picture works)
The second toe has a large blister that is filled with fluid still, the other toes - the blisters burst on their own & there is dead white skin (that is still attached to me) there. When the blisters leak my whole foot is getting wet - its gross *sobs*. Also, my foot is a little orangey cuz I have a fairly big cut between the first & second toe, I put some Iodine on it this afternoon - not sure if thats a good idea or not, but I am so worried about this going deep into my foot again.
Now, I will attach the pic of the top of the foot (yuck) - again hope i do this right
The top part is all red, bumpy & itchy - see how its moving up my foot? The big toe is infected, its very drippy & all around the toenail is pussy & oozy...the skin is white & it falls off after a bit, so then I am left with raw red skin & then that too heals then does the same. The big toe hurts, under my other toes are sore, and right now mainly the second one cuz that one is a huge blister so I cant really bend that one or anything. So yea, my foot itches, stings & tingles, its like its being eaten away - well my toenail is! ...sometimes it feels like how when you put hydrogen peroxide on an owie?
I am trying to keep my toes as dry and clean and aired out as much as possible. My other foot is fine - my kids feet are fine. It's just this one foot! I usually always wear sandels too & now I wont be able to this summer :( Well, I just hope i can fix this infection & keep all my toes!
I have been surfing the net for a few years now in search of help for Candidia and yeast infections. I am having some success with a few things and I wanted to come and share with people because having yeast infections and BV for a few years now really sucks and is expensive. I read your post and I wanted to share a supplement with you that I have been taking for Systemic yeast. I haven't been on it that long but I am having success with it and I am not even restricting my diet. I believe I have Systemic yeast. Check out the supplement called Syntol. The Enzymes break down the yeast walls and destroy them. Included in this product is also a precbiotic and a probiotic to get your system healthy with good bacteria again. I have been on it now for approximately 2 weeks. I am more tired than usual but I will take that over yeast infections any day. Just wanted to share. Good luck!!
