Hello All, I am posting here hoping to get some advice on several of my dental health issues. I am a 54 year old woman that would like to keep the good tooth health and beautiful teeth that I have had all of my life. First off, I am extremely disappointed that after I had the last two of my wisdom teeth pulled (4 years ago) I have gaps that have developed between my teeth. Those gaps seem to be increasing more ... as time goes on. I am very disappointed that I decided to get those wisdom teeth pulled. My only complaint, at that time, was bad breath. I was told that because I could not get back to clean/floss those teeth effectively, the plaque and tartar buildup on those two teeth were probably contributing to my bad breath. I believe that if I had just stepped up my cleaning and flossing program, I probably could have lived fine with those two wisdom teeth. All that said, what's done is done. I am now entertaining the idea of Invisalign Braces ... to pull those teeth back in place. The dentist that I was talking to about this indicated that after initial constant several month use of those braces ... I would want to periodically continue to use ... to keep those teeth from shifting back to where they were. Does anyone here have any experience with using these types of braces ... in someone of my age? Would like to know if you felt they were effective and if you had any issues with this type of program. (Invisalign) The other issue I have been struggling with is receding gums. I hated the looks of those (over the past 12 or so year and have had the tops of many of my front teeth filled. (For cosmetic reasons more than anything.) I know that receding gums is an issue that many struggle with. Do any of you have a tried and true remedy ... that could fix this malady once and for all? Obviously whatever I would do would have to be something I would be committed to for the rest of my life. And that would be no problem. I do floss twice daily and even use magnesium oil (along with my toothpaste) on my toothbrush. I thought the adding of mag oil would benefit me greatly. But my trip to the dentist proved me wrong. And now I am told by the hygienist, that one of my teeth has crossed over to the very serious number of "5". Of which, from what I am told there is no regaining that tooth health ... just holding it steady so it does not get any worse. Is there any truth to that? Has anyone here had sucess with regaining tooth health? Sure would appreciate any/all feedback you might have on this. Thanks Dixie Lou

I haven't used Invisalign so I can't comment on that. But here is something on receding gums: http://www.doctoryourself.com/gums.html
Also, Abraham Hoffer reportedly cured his gums (he was slated to have all his teeth taken out) with 3 grams of niacin/day.
Stop using toothpaste. You'd be better off brushing with just the magnesium oil or other natural dentrifice.
Oil pulling. Check out the oil pulling forum here at curezone.
Use xylitol. See:

And look into the calcium therapy products and info at the Calcium Therapy Institute:

Improvement is always possible. Keep the faith and keep us posted!

Hi Dixie,
I have used the invisalign braces. However i was in my early 30's when i used it. I had my first kid and noticed that the top front teeth had a gap that seemed humongous to me. I went to a couple of dentists and then decided to go with the invisalign option. I have to use retainers at night now. its about 8 years now and i would say that overall i was quite satisfied with what invisalign achieved. it was quite a painless process and i loved the fact that nobody could tell that i was wearing braces ( and that i could remove them at will).
Hope this helps some!
