Currently on day five of my dry fast and feeling quite good! I have no desire for food or water and no horrible detox symptoms! Have been taking it easy and even did a little sunbathing yesterday. Wish I could share the benefits of fasting with others. Glad there are others out there who believe the benefits of fasting outweigh the risks. I don't know how long I'll fast, starting dry and switching to water for the remainder of the fast. Keeping my fingers crossed I don't vomit at any point, as I experience out of proportion anxiety when that happens, don't know why just know I had panic attacks as a child when I vomited, like it was the end of the world or something! Oh well, I'm a big girl now and know that's not the case, just the body's way of getting rid of garbage! Will see how this fast goes as I feel cleaner going into it as opposed to previous fasts.
Well hghbuzz I wish I knew why I'm able to dry fast with relative ease for as long as I can...I think I've gone nine days,I don't think I've ever reached double digits! I can't remember drinking a lot of fluids as a child, or even now as an adult, maybe I've somehow conditioned myself. Oh, I broke the fast as I received a wonderful bounty of super ripe champagne mangoes....my absolute favorite fruit! The body was willing but the nose smelled those lovely mangoes and the fast was over!
egg....Five days of Dry Fasting with no detox symptoms is a Goal for us all.
Good job!!......WY
P.S. I'm curious to know how you prepared your Body for the Dry Fast.
Wheatgrass, I don't think I really prepared. Sometimes it just happens...I mean my intention is not to "go dry". I do eat more fruits this time of year, which are high water content, maybe that helps. The best fasts seem to be the ones I fall into, if you know what I mean. I tell you though, I feel so at ease mentally when I fast I sometimes prefer the fasting state!
I am happy that it's going so well for you, very nice job :,). So far 5 days has been my limit (5.2 to be exact) and then thirst and drying skin get the better of me. I expect to be able to go longer at some point soon and hope to see 7 days before the year's end. It's been very comfortable symptomatically for me as well in each of the four 5-day dry fasts i have done over the past 4 months and i am already beginning (in a way) to look forward to the next one.
How long do you expect to go approximately and what was your longest before this one?
I had a hard time with vomiting as a kid too. For some people it seemed easy and almost even pleasant, but for me it was quite a gut wrenching and "giving it everything i had" exhausting ordeal. But yes we are big boys and girls now ;).
Mighty, I ended the dry fast last night...the temptation of a mango....it's a terrible thing! They were the best tasting mangoes though! I think I've gone nine days, I have a terrible memory and I don't keep a journal or anything to look back upon. I'm a spontaneous faster it seems, and I just go with it. I did have some major cramps in my hands, the thumb crossing over and touching the pinky and remaining locked...in both hands. It's weird when your body does something you don't want it to do, as I was forcing my thumbs back into position. My feet also experienced curling, cramping. I guess this was the only unsettling thing to occur on this fast. A symptom of dehydration I would guess. I see you are a routine faster, four in the last four months. You mention seven days as a goal. Are you aiming to fast one week out of every month as an ongoing thing? Part of me feels I would be best served with a routine, like alternate day fasting or even one week a month, especially since I'm older now! Turned fifty this year! I do think more about my health, remaining healthy that is, and how best to achieve this. Yes, I too take pleasure in my fasts.... the ones void of yucky detox! Hope your next fast is a rewarding one!
