Hi Guys, my first post here, so forgive me if this has been covered millions of times.
Have just spent the good most of the day reading up on oil pulling, and have just finished my first session of OP with sesame oil.
I believe I have a abscess on the roof of my mouth, it doesnt hurt and it appeared about 3-4 days ago. I easily forget about it as it doesnt hurt, but when I eat it obviously gets inflamed. I've had some other abscesses before but they seem to disappear pretty fast. This current one is more annoying.
Have read heaps of horror stories on how it can infect your jaw etc. I want to avoid going to see the dentist as I know it'll result in pulling a tooth ($500 +)
Is there anything else I can do besides oil pulling that'll clear this up? Have read adding oregano oil mite be good.
If you have a blister on the roof of your mouth it doesn't sound like a tooth abscess but just a simple mouth blister - probably from eating something too hot.
However if you ever do get a tooth abscess please read the forums here about using oil pulling and especially clay to be rid of it rather than having your tooth pulled. I've had probably 4 abscesses in the last 10 years and never had a tooth pulled. The OP and clay got rid of them in 2-3 days without fail.
I couldn't see a price on the Bentonite but it looks fussy and expensive. And WHY would you ever need to refrigerate clay? Google Yerba Prima Bentonite for a solid product that's reasonably priced.
Swishing liquid bentonite slowly works great for many kinds of mouth infections. For abscesses, I used powdered clay like the Aztec brand, wet it until it's fairly solid, and pack it directly over the abscess. Works every time.
I would do it some number of hours after oil pulling since the clay will suck out whatever nutrients you're getting from the oil.
Yes, that's the stuff, and it's available at most healthfood stores. Your jaw shouldn't be stiff because you don't need to do much swishing with the clay. You pretty much let it sit in your mouth, absorb, and occasionally swish it around just to make sure it's getting everywhere.
now has come loose. Likely was just an infection, so I'm just waiting for this fragment of tooth to fall out(its very very loose)
In this period I Oil pulled with seseme oil and hydrated Bentonite once a day.
new problem now tho seems more serious :( I am worried as have read more about tooth abscesses. Last week I got a slight stomach bug for 2 days, and on the 2nd day I developed a major tooth ache on my bottom last tooth. Basically havent had a tooth ache this severe in years. So to combat this pain, I took a combination of codine and ibuprofen, which after 3 days the ache is gone.
I have now noticed a small abscess has now developed just below the tooth that was causing the pain. It is now day 2 of the abscess. Ive been still taking ibuprofen for the slight swelling + swishing with bentonite. The abscess looks heaps better now. I have noticed very slight aching in my left ear and slight stiffness in my neck on the same side as the abscess. This all could be in my mind after reading symptoms and articles of the dangers of teeth abscesses.
I've ordered some of the aztec clay bentonite to try and pack on the abscess and hopefully draw out any infection.
Can anybody else give me other advice/suggestions before I decide to make my first dentist appntment in like 10 years. Starting to feel worried :(
If you have fragments of teeth and multiple abscesses - I'd see a dentist for a diagnosis at least. You might be best off with a simple extraction of the tooth in pieces ( root canals cause problems of their own).
Also you shouldn't be swishing around the clay vigorously. It's there to absorb, so work it around a bit, but slowly so it has some dwell time. Remember not to use the Bentonite within hours of the oil pulling since it can draw away some of the nutrients and benefits.
Anyways my first issue seems to have fixed it self. Seemed like it was an infection from a loose tooth.
I only have 1 abscess at the moment. Also there is no pain at the moment, just abit of swelling.
And yes i dont swish the clay I just let it sit on the infected area for about 20 mins. I cant wait for the Aztec clay to arrive so I can pack it good!
I think After I try the clay and dont see any improvement I mite have to take the dive and book a dentist appointment.
I'd probably book the dental appointment anyway. The clay will draw out the infection but won't stop infections from happening in the future. It sounds like you have a lot going on that really should be checked out. Whether you agree with their proposed course of action is another thing - but at least you'll a bigger picture.
