Somewhat scared here. Found out it was strongyloides a bit under two weeks ago-have read everything I could so far, but I'm uncertain of exactly what I should do(drugs vs the herbs) and if both, which first?
I also have tapes. Not sure if they're disseminated too, but seems likely. Yikes!!!
Can anyone tell me, are the CNS symptoms permanent? Has anyone had a severe case and how did you treat it? (I would really prefer herbals, but am prepared to take drugs if necessary.)
I'm very grateful to have received the great info about the coconut oil, which is helping my eyes, but I'm worried as my infection seems pretty severe.
It was a shock when I made the connection that my symptoms are CNS and not only that but likely due to the hyperinfection: numbness/tingling in hands and feet, numb spots on both sides of spine down back, also some blurred vision, especially in R eye, the right side of face very slightly numb, stiff neck, light sensitivity, headaches. (I also have rashes that are difficult/slow to heal. I had a low grade cough, but taking the coconut oil helped a lot.) I can also feel "movement" behind my eye-what the heck??
Some "scratches" showed up on my skin out of the blue two weeks ago after over a year of the above symptoms-otherwise I wouldn't have learned about strongyloides. I still think it's a miracle that I even did.
Thanks
pardon the long post
(P.S. I realized that not only did I travel to places where I probably picked up the strongyloides years ago, but I was given a lot of steroids when hospitalized for a lung infection: after THAT was when everything escalated. It makes sense now.)
I was diagnosed with strongyloides a year ago and I am still struggling with them. I believe I have had them for 20 yrs +, as that is the time i have had symptoms. I had a bad bout 5 yrs ago for 3 years and another one more recently. both triggered by steroids.
I have had muscle and joint pain, muscle spasms/cramps, rashes, IBS, Cough for 6 yrs, IBS, Chronic fatigue, headaches, great discomfort in the left eye etc.
Currently suffering from itchy rashes of 6 months duration, and the tingling/itching/burning in hands and feet that drive me mad.. I have just started taking Doxycyline and that is working wonders on the rashes and itching. previously I have been given 7 doses of ivermectin, which also kills some of them. I have been on herbs for months and that too kills some of them.
NOTHING seems to kill all of them.....
I believe for me its going to be a life long fight. my current strategy is continual use of herbs, drugs when prescribed, and antibiotics. I need to take vits and mins, because the neurapathy in particular seems to deplete my magnesium and potassium. I need to take vit B6, D3, Milk Thistle, acidopholus, potassium, magnesium etc. Everyone is different, and different treatments work for different people. you have to work out what works for you.
If it is a recent infection you have it might be easier to shift, good luck!
i am going through the exact same thing. I did the wormwood walnt thing which just slowed it down a bit. now on a homeopathic combo. totally changed my diet to no gluten, nonmeat, never dairy, lotta coconut and doing all the usual antiparasite foods. thing is when I am "hitting" them, they migrate more and drive me CRAZY. they settle and chow peacefully on "off" diet, so its like rock and hard place. did dandelion juice I boiled myself, and they were wild. its a nightmare out of revelations or something. am so antidrug but and considering it also.
Bentnail I sympathise......life should not be like this.
The best weapon I have in my arsenal so as to speak is liver flushing!
Going back two-four yrs ago I could not tolerate painkillers, antibiotics or drugs!I liver flushed fortnightly for a year and I now have a fully functioning liver that can cope with both the drugs and the die off!
Maintance of the body cleansing system is of paramount importance!
Do continue to keep us up to date and please PM me if it will help.
It means a great deal to me that others are out there struggling with the severity of this. I don't feel so alone.
Was beginning to doubt myself after seeing so many doctors. It amazes me that these parasites can cause symptoms from top of the head to bottom of the feet; that it's strongyloidiasis and such diverse symptoms are all connected.
Out of the frying pan and into the fire now, it appears.
Relieved to know, but scared at how chronic everything I've read says. I'm just making headway with the scabies problem, after struggling with that over a year, and now I find THIS. CR*P!!!
I now suspect I may have had strongyloides for several years but don't know why the "scratches" suddenly appeared. Only seen 2 more since the first 4. I hope that's a good sign.
My main worry is what looks like meningeal symptoms (stiff neck, blurred vision, light sensitivity, headaches). Have you had any of that?
I'm SO hoping that it's a "die-off" of the critters not a growth of them, since I've been taking a lot of VCO coconut, olive leaf, cayenne and a few other things.
I'm waiting for para herbs that I ordered, was going to stop the above coconut etc. and switch to the para herbs...quite worried that I might have even more "die-off" in my head since I seem to have a lot of movement there.
(I read the strongys go to body extremities. I know I also have them in my feet. My feet look very weird, the soles are all mottled red and yellow)
What can I expect from a strongyloides big die-off? (hopefully if I have one)
Thanks for the info on diet-I'm off gluten, sugar, the usual "white" foods etc. Trying to eat clean and healthy. It seems that parasites think sugar is caviar...I don't want to nurture them, I want them to get the ____ out of Dodge.
I'm also trying to get rid of a tape. It's not "biting" me at the moment so I guess the D.E. is working. (Although D.E. may have helped pushed the strongyloides and who knows what else out of my GI. I don't know if D.E. had something to do with the dissemination or if I got so overloaded it would have happened anyway.)
Buddhablessed, how did you make the dandelion juice? What plant parts did you use?
China, I have heard of liver flushing. I read that it's better to kill parasites at least some of them before the Liver Flush or it can be very difficult?
At least my lungs feel much better since I coughed up all that "foamy chunk" stuff. Must have been larva/eggs?
GO VCO!!!! YAY!
Thanks!

(sorry post is too long again-tend to write too much)
I first started liver flushing prior to doing a parasite cleanse. it did not do me any harm. Liver flushing is such a long term task, and you have already been on herbs for a month that I am sure it is pefectly safe for you to do it now. whilst you have parasites, and when you kill them, your body has a huge amount of toxins to process and clear. hence the strain on the liver and why you need it to be functioning as best as possible. however liver flushing can be draining if you take too much Epsom Salts . I keep it to just one tablespoon.
I recognise your description of the feet. i do not think the parasites are actually in the feet. I am sure you have heard of foot treatment to aid detox? I think a fair amount of detoxication can occur at the feet and thru the soles, hence the itching and rashes etc. also many of the bodys nerve systems culminate in hands and feet, hence the practice of Reflexology. in a nut shell, I think our feet problems occur because of toxic build up in the feet and the sensitivity of nerves in our feet to stress in the organs.
Pains in head and neck. when I was at my very worst I would get nasty muscle spasms in my neck as well as elsewhere in my body. Also when I detox/kill parasites I get flu like symptoms, headaches, aching , pain behind my eye, colds , sore throat etc.
One last bit of advice is do not just take one lot of herbs and think they are gone! take them for a year or more. you can break off for a week every month to allow the liver and kidneys to recover from the continual detox- you might well feel/sense when the body needs a week off from it all!
after a year, if you are symptom free, put yourselve on a maintanance level of herbs -perhaps 1/3 of what you were taking to kill them.
Thanks for your advice. I was only reading on the Parasite Forum, now I'll go check out the Liver flush one. I do feel better since my lungs cleared up-I think you are right, it has a lot to do with getting and keeping all the body's elimination organs cleaned up and working, to handle the toxins these pests throw at us.
I see now that there is no "quick fix"....parasites are very tough survivors that don't want to go without a fight.
I feel a bit better today, my neck is not as stiff so I hope that was die-off symptom, although a d*mn scary one. Also less of a headache and the pupil of my R eye is not so dilated. (That was after about two weeks of putting VCO drops in my eyes.) (I am very grateful for that-by far the most terrifying symptom). I am however, going to stop the drops for a while and find out what happens. I certainly DON"T want the parasites to get resistant. It would be truly terrifying if the VCO stopped working. (I ordered Christopher's Eyebright Formula but it hasn't arrived yet. Sheesh.)
I forgot to add to my list of symptoms that the lymph glands in my neck have been swollen for over a year...they only went down when I cleaned up my diet, started with VCO, olive leaf and other herbs & spices.
I had allergy testing last year-I am allergic to some pollen and food but not severe enough to cause the high allergen test results I was getting, so now I know the parasites were probably causing that too.
I'm still shocked at the wide variety of seemingly unconnected symptoms parasites cause. They must be a huge problem for masses of people...how come they're not more generally known?
China, you said I could PM you. That would be very helpful.
