For the past few years I have been dealing with chronic sinusitis and candida overgrowth due to long-term anti-biotic use.
Besides doing everything I can for both of these ailments (plus surgery), I still have a lot of pressure build up in my frontal sinuses above my eyebrows. My head feels like it's going to explode every time I bend over.
I have recently started adding GSE (grape seed extract) oil to my anti-fungal regiment. Besides drinking it I thought of dabbing a little on a q-tip and snorting some oil up my nose. I hope by doing this while bending downwards I could have the oil reach my deeper sinuses. I do this after showering at night about an hour after doing a sinus rinse.
In the morning when I wake up I get a lot of yellow mucus followed by strings of blood.
My question is , would this be candida(or another microbe) ?
I don't know if this mucus is from a previous build-up, or if my body is just starting to produce it in reaction to the GSE oil.
GSE can burn the sinus tissues causing mucus production...especially if it is not diluted properly. The blood discharge is a result of the concentrated extract penetrating the tissues.
I agree with the other poster. I think I have the same problem with my sinuses that you do. I do a saline/baking soda sinus flush but I add 20 drops of GSE to it every morning. I would say the 20 drops are in 2 cups of distilled water (with saline mixture). I bend over keeping the fluid in my sinuses (pinch my nose) so it reaches the upper sinuses. Sounds like you might be burning the delicate tissues. I do however get quite a bit of mucus with white chunks and sometimes yellow/green fluid in the drainage. The GSE is a great additive, I would just add it to the sinus flush to stop the bleeding. I have heard peroxide causes the tissue to bleed as well. Be careful :)
Hello,
I think that you must be a brave person, very dedicated to your healing, to put GSE up your nasal cavity. Wowsers! Kudos.
However, I would venture to agree with your assertion that the GSE is contributing to the blood and mucus discharge.
Our sinuses are meant to self regulate through the functioning of our efficient, but sensitive, mucous membranes. It is usually when the mucous membrane, the lining of your sinuses, is damaged or irritated that we get sinus congestion.
So, the GSE most likely is adding to the irritation, inflammation, and damaged tissues (since there is some blood).
It is common to have extra mucous discharging from the body during candida cleansing. So maybe try less extreme methods. I personally really like essential oil direct palm inhalation. In this, you place 1-2 drops of essential oil (I would suggest eucalyptus or pine for this) on the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, cup them over your nose and mouth, then inhale deeply through your nose for 5-20 breaths. If that doesn't cut it, then try a steam facial. Place boiled water in a bowl on the table, put 1-2 drops of essential oil in the bowl, then quickly cover your head with a towel and place over the bowl to capture the essential oils and steam. Breath deeply. Make sure you get enough rest so that your body can return to balance faster.
Essential oils are anti microbial, anti viral, anti bacterial, anti fungal, etc. No matter what this problem is caused by, Essential oils will help. (Unless there is a congenital defect with your sinus cavities- you would have had sinus infections your hole life if this was the case).
If all else fails, consult an Ayurvedic specialist and ask them if they know the treatment of dropping fresh ginger juice up your nose. Whoa! That'll do it.
I feel like a superman, looking for people who need help.
I had Candida all my life, since I was probably 1 week old, without knowing it. Luckily, I was told time and time again by holistic practitioners, time and time again, until I fully realized it and took action.
I put a lot of info in my post, which will help you feel better.

I would strongly suggest that you cleanse though and change your diet to have permanent results.
Good luck!
I would love to hear about your progress!
