i came to this forum to ask for advice about uterine fibroids and breast fibroids.. i started with 2% Lugols about 4 drops a day which was alrite ..i got some pimples here and there but nothing major..then is topped cos i wasnt eating right and didnt want to waste the Iodine when on a bad diet..i started cleanin my diet again and i started with iodine and upped it up to 50mg and then i had these swollen salivary glands throughout the day.. i stopped it and then last week just used two drops in water and then i got the same swollen salivary glands again (worse) and i had this terrible rash that was itching me so much for twodays all over my body.. What went wrong?am i now so sensitive to lugols? i was using the companion nutrients..but still so should i switch to iodoral..
i paint lugols on my breasts and over my uterus..i have seen soo much improvement in my breasts..i am just about five days to my beriod but i dont actually ahve any pain in my breasts and they r so soft..but the fibroid is there and stil big..can i use q-tip to paint my vagina with lugols and do i dilute the solution so it gets to my uterus faster?
Sorry forall the questions and im stil quite young and i have not had any children just want to clarify that taking so much iodine wont affect my fertility?
Welcome to your iodine experience :) Other people have experienced swollen salivary glands. The glands concentrate iodine and will take advantage of all that iodine passing right by :) It won't last, but I don't know how long before the swelling response dies down. If I was that uncomfortable, I'd take a break, take some more, take a break, take some more, till they're finally satisfied and you can get on with the rest of the program. I only had a mild version of it; I don't know if made a difference that I took Iodoral, not Lugol's. The iodine will still end up in the salivary glands, no matter the path.
Excellent results with your painting! Yes, Lugol's can be used vaginally. The experiences with it have been hit or miss. I remember somebody saying they thought a q-tip soaked up too much of the iodine for painting. This thread has some ideas; you might search for others.
I ran across a post of a woman who shrank her fibroids using Iodoral 50 mg 3X/day, Vit C 1000 mg 3X/day, selenium 200 mcg, and magnesium citrate (she didn't specify how much). This caught my attention because I wanted to remind you to be sure go get as much magnesium as you can tolerate -- citrate or malate seem to be well-tolerated. I remember reading the Iodine Docs talking about using 1200 mg magnesium, and then later the patient they were working with had to take less because she didn't need it as much. I tried to find the citation and couldn't. Regardless, magnesium is critical to the usefulness of iodine. Don't want diarrhea, of course :)
Hi there - thank you for posting this - I have been doing a search here in CureZone like mad about salivary glands and iodine!
I have posted now twice in two different forums here explaining my situation...which is basically a swollen gland after taking Lugol's -- that was about a month ago and it is getting worse -- not going away -- and of course, I am getting a bit panic.
I have been avoiding the idea of going to the doctor because what do they know but to prescribe drugs - but unfortunately my husband is insisting like mad I should go...so I have arrange to see one next Monday.
Yesterday and today has been the worse -- very - very painful every time I try to eat something --- I can't eat basically because it is too painful.
I now it was the Lugol's that triggered this problem, but I am intrigued as why? Why did the Iodine brought this to light? I can't take off my head the idea that an underlying more serious health problem is surfacing (maybe a good thing so I can treat it now)
Anyway, worry like hell -- please share some thoughts or link to investigate this further before I go and see the quack on Monday.
The salivary glands concentrate iodide. X-rays studies using iodine contrast will glow in the jaw region from the iodine concentration. I've read that the iodide is then secreted into the saliva, but I don't know more than that. It just shows how deficient your tissues are, that the glands would grab up the iodine like that. But I wouldn't know why the swelling is persisting, unless there is an interaction with something blocking normal function. For instance, if there's a problem with the sodium-iodide symporters, you'd need Vit C to correct that problem.
You don't say if you're still taking iodine. Probably you're not, but that'd be the first thing to do. Stay off it and take the companion supplements - Vit C, B complex, magnesium, selenium. That's what Labb did. Also include water and salt, in case you have a bromine concentration that was disrupted by the iodine but not successfully cleared.
Hello
I started with Lugols varying drops at a time until I upped to 50mg and got these nasty swollen salivary glands..I then stopped it fr two weeks and took just 12.5 mg and got the glands again and severe itching with breakouts all over.
I then stopped and started taking only the companioinn nutrients for two wks and started with iodoral 12.5 mg for two days and then went on to 50mg for the past week now and still no detox,,is this a good sign that I should increase my dosage to 100mg ..I'm treating uterine fibroids and sinus issues and allergies iv had since when I was little. my sups are vita 5-6g,selenium 200mcg, mg citrate 300mg, no salt loading as no detox just drink loads of water
