My first attempt at the Liver Flush failed to get out any stones so I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out the reason why. I was anticipating and anxious about the flush for a while and not getting gout any stones is kind of a bummer.
In terms of the preparation, my liver flush was set for Saturday June 9th. I started preparing the previous Saturday and was taking about 3-4 grams of malic acid per day. For the diet, I was cut out most fats and meats in the beginning and then completely for the last three days. I was basically having a brown rice wrap with lettuce for breakfast from Saturday to Friday. Lunch would be steamed vegetables with plain brown rice cakes. Dinner was steamed vegetables with a small portion of meat from Sat to Mon. I cut out the meat portion for dinner and replaced it with a scoop of raw vegan protein powder on Tues and Wed. For Thursday and Friday, I cut out all protein completely.
On the day of the flush, I ate lettuce with brown rice cakes as my first meal at 11am , and steamed bok choy with rice cakes for my second meal at 4:00 pm. I know the protocol calls for a set schedule, but i pushed everything back 3 1/2 hours because I'm used to sleeping at 1-2am and didn't want to lie awake in case I felt miserable.
As for the flush itself, I took the first dose of Epsom Salts at 9:00pm and was able to tolerate the taste. It did make me feel super bloated however, and some of my joints started hurting but stopped after a while. I took my second dose at 11:30 because i felt super nauseous and bloated form the first dose. The second dose made me feel like my stomach was going to pop so I had to lay down. I took the olive oil/grapefruit mixture at 2:15am when I finally felt like my stomach felt a little more comfortable and went to bed. I was laying in bed for about 20-30 minutes before i fell asleep.
I woke up at 8:00 feeling nauseous and had a watery bowel movement but no stones. I finally woke up at 11:00 with a pretty bad headache. I took my last two doses of epsom salts and went to the bathroom over 12 times with no stones whatsoever. There did seem to be a lot of stuff with what I'm assuming was stuff from my colon. I did feel and hear some gurgling sounds after I woke up, but am not sure on the significance of it.
I narrowed the reason for failure down to three possibilities, but want to know what you guys/gals with more experience think:
1. My liver/gallbladder is just that congested. I usually feel contractions in the area. Sometimes it feels like it's trying to squeeze but something is in the way. I was reading that it's possible to require more than one flush to get stones and am wondering if this is the case. If so, what would help in addition to the malic acid?
2. I didn't follow the exact times and timing schedule. I read that the times selected for the flush are ideal because that's when your liver most actively detoxes, but I pushed everything back by 3 1/2 hours because I know I wouldn't be able to sleep by 10 o clock and didnt want to lay there suffering. I also took 2 1/2 hours between does because i was feeling nauseous. Would this have a big impact on the effectiveness of the flush?
3. I get massive headaches if I don't eat often, so to compensate for not eating for the duration. I ate a a little more than usual for lunch on the day of the flush. I also drank water constantly afterwards to make myself not feel hungry. By the time i took the first dose of epsom salts, I felt super full. Like to the point where i was going to pop. By the time i drank the second dose and the olive oil/grapefruit mixture, i was really really full. It sort of felt like everything was just in my stomach at the same time. I'm thinking that maybe it was possible that i didn't get to digest everything and a lot of it mixed with each other and was just sitting in my stomach. I guess it would be equivalent to eating before the flush.
These are the three possibilities I came up with although I'm not sure how likely they are. Any input is appreciated. I really want to get the stones out.
On a side note, I'm not sure if it's just a mental thing, but my vision seems a little sharper and I notice certain smells and tastes more (particularly burnt). Also, my stomach area has been gurgling all day.
I was also pretty nauseous and miserable during the night/early morning hours. I also notcied that nothing happened at all after i took the olive oil/grapefruit. Not one spasm or contraction at all.
Sorry you didn't get to see stones. As for reasons, could be all the ones you mention. Didn't I tell you to follow the steps *exactly*? I have heard that messing with the time even by a few minutes can derail it. It doesn't matter if you spend a miserable night. You can deal with it, as it helps in the long run, so next time suck it up and follow all the steps properly!!!
I never change my diet at all. I eat normally and just stop at 1:00 on the day of the flush. If I'm hungry after that I drink apple juice. Plan on sitting at home doing nothing and not being that comfortable, it's not a big deal for one night to be hungry, nauseous, or whatever. Soon it will be over. (This is my experience and I get a lot of stones out--have done 10 flushes now, only one where I didn't get any, maybe #3 or 4).
I don't go crazy eating fats on the day of the flush but I don't totally avoid them. It doesn't seem to be a problem at least for me. Everyone is different.
Yeah, I guess I will have to follow everything completely next time. It's just that im very sensitive and get nauseous and dizzy easily so i was trying to try to make it easier. I guess i just have to suck it up next time and go for it.
The diet thing is where it's kind of confusing because everyone seems to have their own take on it. I've read some people here say that you should avoid fats and meat the week of, etc. which is why i tried it to hopefully have everything work out smoothly. I think i'm going to try changing my diet the day before and the day of next time. Dealing with the low protein diet for the whole week was not fun at all!
Things I've noticed:
1. You only have to avoid fats/oils and such 'the day of'
2. Your stomach needs to be empty of food & water when you take the olive oil
3. The times may matter, because I do know your different organs cleanse at specific times during the night
But, it sounds like it still may have did something. (so dont think it was a complete waste! You at least did a 'bowel flush' ;-) lol) Are you still going to do the colonics? You never know if all the bowel movements were previously backed up things and the stones could still be coming.
For me, my first flush I got one tiny stone.. I laughed.. Then a year later I read you should do several of them and the first flushes can at times not have anything. So starting February, I did a flush once a month. (I believe I did 3?) each time I got more and more stones. To the point that last time I was surprised by how many I got. (I tried to do another flush a few weeks ago. But I had just finished a parasite cleanse and I felt way too queezy to drink the olive oil mixture.. I aborted the flush at the last minute, because I didn't want to make myself miserable)
Another side note, be careful drinking ALOT of water, you can get 'water poisonIng'. And deplete minerals. (the amount depends on body weight)
Another tip, mint tea has often helped me with the queezyness. I get the traditional medicinals 'kids tummy tea', it's a mix of camomile, mint & something else. When i do the flush, I always have a tea cup of the stuff ready and waiting by my bed, so when I first wake up I can sip on it.. Or if I feel really queezy in the middle of the night, I sip it. It works really well.
I actually went and did my first colonic today. It was a very unique experience although the person doing the colonic made me feel very comfortable. The steps involved in the colonic didn't bother me much although i did get kind of lightheaded towards the end and afterwards. Not sure if it's from toxins, cleansing, or whatever. I did see some things which i could not identify at all. I dont even know what they are =X
I got a 3 session pack so i have two left. I'm not sure how i should space them out. I read that you should go get one before and after each flush. but they are not cheap so I want to save them as much as possible. lol. I was thinking of getting one after my next flush. Do you think i need to get another one before my next flush?
Regarding the stomach being empty, that was one of the reasons i suspect i didnt get any stones. I still felt really bloated and full when i took the olive oil. As i was telling crane, im going to follow the times strictly next time. In your experience, is there any specific guideline to follow regarding protein/meat intake in preparation for the flush?
Try taking chanca piedra to help break up the stones. Increase the amount of malic acid you take- when it induces partial diarrhea you know it is having the right effect.
ALso try raw garlic, lots of onions, and helychrysium, Celery and ledum essential oils to de-sludge the liver.
Ginger will help you with the bloating and increase gallbladder contraction during the flush.
The timing is very important because you want your morning dose of Epsom Salt to coincide to the detox phase early in the morning. The oil mixture starts to exit around 6-8 am (at least for most) and this is when the epsom dose will dilate the ducts and increase the gallbladder contractions. 11am is way too late to be starting the 3rd epsom dose.
Also, I disagree with some above posters with regard to consuming oil the week of the flush. Building up a sufficient bile store is very important because the mechanism that removes the stones from the biliary ducts is just a small little trickle of bile. It is not some big, dramatic "flush" like what squirts out of the gallbladder. Thus, you need to avoid all meat and fats for the week to optimize the bile storage. There is a difference.
Try these things out and don't give up. Also avoid meat in the next preparation.
