Yeah yours is a bit mild compared to others on here, but who cares we all know having this shit at all sucks no matter how severe. That being said, yes a lot of people have tried protopic and failed, but that doesnt necessarily mean it will not work for you.
My suggestion is to supplement Protopic with a Vitamin D topical medication like Taclonex. These 2 specialists I have been seeing really believe this is Psoriasis, and have told me to treat it this way, but I am going to start systemic medication tomorrow, which is much more aggressive and potent. I now strongly believe this is psoriasis too but I guess I will find out in the next few weeks depending on whether this medication works.
Anyways yeah thats my suggestion. I dont want to tell you that using protopic alone is a COMPLETE waste of time because theres always a chance it will work for you, but I have yet to read of someone who treated this with Protopic ALONE. The only people I read that treated it was by supplementing Taclonex and Protopic and leaving their lips alone, meaning dont constantly peel them.
The anti-inflammatory properties of the Protopic seem to help the skin hold on better but I can see that it still wants to peel off from the affected areas and my sebaceous glands are very noticeable on the top lip. A few seem to have become more noticeable on the bottom lip. I've only had tiny peels since I started applying. Thankfully the Protopic has completely killed my urge to bite and pick at my lips but they feel strange and tingly.
I have seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp and face which the dermatologist's prescriptions are already resolving. I feel like EC could be psoriasis for some, seborrheic dermatitis for others. It has been shown to be an allergic reaction in some cases and who knows what else for the rest.
I personally am starting to feel that I may have to use an anti-fungal in addition to the anti-inflammatory because I believe this may be directly linked to my SD, however I'm not sure if it is safe to apply the 1% hydrocortisone/ketoderm (anti-fungal) compound that was prescribed for my facial SD. That being said, I'm not sure if Protopic is necessarily that safe either and the pharmacist said (off the record) that it wouldn't hurt.
