I'm worried that I'm losing too much initial weight to finish my water fast?
I’m currently on day 4 of a 14 day water fast for acne. I’m concerned that I’m losing weight too quickly and won’t have enough reserves to finish the fast. I’m wondering if I should break fast now, start eating again to gain higher initial weight and start again, or keep going now.
Heres my situation:
I am usually about 6’3 and 194 pounds, already slender. I’ve been trying to fast for the last 6 weeks, trying to hit 14 consecutive days, but always fail: my longest was 5 full days. Since June 23th, I’ve probably spent over 20 days fasting. I start fasting, give in, eat until I get back up to the 190s, and start fasting again. Recently, I started a 2 day water fast on July 28th which lasted just 2 days. July 30/31 I spent refeeding and then 4 days ago (august 1st) I started another fast. My weight when I began was about 194, but I lost 10 pounds in the first day, and now midway through day 4, I’m already down to 174.5 pounds…almost 20 pound loss. I still 10 days to go, and at 6’3 I don’t want to fall below 160 (20 bmi.) I imagined that 174 would be the kind of weight I see at the end of a fast, but I’ve lost this much and I’m not even halfway through.
I think it’s because the fasting I did before, and I’ve burnt too much of my and reserves. I really need to hit 14 consecutive days and I DON’T want to finish with some emaciated look. If my weight loss doesn’t start slowing down significantly, I won’t finish…already if I lose exactly a pound a day for 10 more days I’ll finish 164, 30 pounds below my starting weight, and keep in mind my BMI was 24.2 when I started.
Now I’ve been dry fasting as well as much as possible, which I believe may be a contributing factor to the weight loss.
What do you think? Will I be able to safely finish? Is 14 consecutive days the magic acne-bullet?
Well... I think your concern about the weight loss is rather "cosmetic", sorry about the pun. I know acne can be bothering, while being also a sign of toxicity/poor food choices/hormonal/immune imbalance. I would go full length now, if I were you. You will build faster after, with good food, hopefully.
I have always been around 18.5-19 BMI, while eating, and I am still considering a longish fast -- like 21 days plus. No problem at all to be healthy at 18 BMI. Just sayin'
I am sorry, but I have not heard someone losing 20lbs in 4 days. Are you having regular BMs? Also it means that you probably had lot of body water that is going away.
I would not worry about the weight, the weight loss per day will taper off. Usually, people lose 1lb per day.
Weight gain will be easy, weight loss is harder.
Please remember to re-feed your body as per the water fasting protocols.
You should really stop these short fast. I tried this for my psoriasis and it is not good. You have enough fat for a 30+ day's fast
Don't be like me and stop experimenting. You should focus on one long fast, in your case 14 day's.
So don't worry, make a plan. pick a date, make sure you have something to do throughout the day or if you prefer to stay in bed (i personnaly hate that) you can do that. Do one good fast and get over it. you will be happy and proud.
it's all in the mind. If i had your weight i would be so happy.
I have acne, and fasting will only clear it up while your fasting, once you eat whatever your eating it will come back again. Meat and dairy make me break out like crazy.
My face clears up on a low fat vegan diet, like a low fat raw foods diet especially but low fat vegan in general. Any oil, salt or sugars added will cause it to break out, and processed foods.
does this include sugars from fruits? I have never experienced anything beneficial for my psoriasis eating fruits, while many say it's good.
I still believe the problem with acne, eczema, psoriasis is that the system is somehow clogged and that it doesn't really matter what you eat. As long as the system is clogged food will pile up and cause inflamation.
That's why a water fast is the only way to cure and adress the problem. I also believe that allot of nutriotins don't get where they are suppose to get because the veins are clogged.
2 years ago I did a 21 day only orange juice fast and it didn't do anything. all the sugars made everyhintg worse, but people keep believing it was beneficial, while it wasn't.
I don't have psoriasis so I don't know anything about it.
I have had acne prone skin all my life. I just know what works for me.
My face really clears up on fasts, but once I eat anything processed especially fatty foods like meat and cheese, hamburgers, fries, it breaks out.
Fasting would be a good way to jump start things. But my post was to the original poster who doesn't really want to fast and isn't sure what to do. Trying a low fat vegan diet might help, if they want to try it.
Detoxing isn't as fast on a low fat vegan diet, but if you don't want to fast, it's one way to go.
Fruit doesn't effect me. I can eat lots of raw fruits and have clear skin. I avoid refined sugars and anything processed.
