I had an Epsom Salts bath last night and went to bed really early as I was so exhausted I did not know what to do. I slept like a log and I also overslept by an hour this morning!
I am generally a bit more lathargic than usual, but I keep on having these strange bursts of energy, like a kid the day before Christmas. It almost feels like excited nervouseness.
I have a work do tonight. I know I will not give in, but it annoys me to be around smokers during my cleanse.
Congrats on day 3. I understand the bursts of energy. I vascilate between tired and energetic. Got rid of that dadgum headache last night, took a hot organic bubble bath and that did the trick!
Today I am dealing with incredible backache! Geeezzz I sure hope that what some say about the first 3 days being the worst is true, because I can see why some folks throw in the towel.
I'm doing the lax teas night and morning and having enough "trips", just not alot of results. Am open for any other suggestions. I know it's in there, just want to get it out!! Guess I don't want to bad enough to do another SWF. Just can't hack that!
God bless and best wishes to everyone! This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!
Congrats to both of you. Nicole, how did you do your epsom bath? I am incredibly frustrated today - day 6. My poops have been insignificant. I did the laxative tea in the morning and night for the first 5 days but on Monday I looked like a pregnant lady so I backed off! I think I used the wrong salt on Sat and as a result drank 4000 mg of sodium and nothing happened! I am a bodybuilder and I am usually avoiding sodium so you must understand my desperation to GO! Today I have no choice but to start the BP shakes and get some celtic salt to get rid of this lump that is altering my six pack! my skin looks incredible and very soft - face, arms, legs. I get bursts of energy that are sometimes scary, but at all the wrong times!
I have been keeping up with my strenous training - twice a day but may lay off until Sunday so I can complete this cleanse properly. I don't know how effective it is to be stressing my body like I do while I am healing.
Many folks including myself have continued exercising during the MC but I'm sure it's nowhere near the level that you're doing being a competitive BB. You might wanna lay back some.
Are you familiar with Super Slow Weight training?. I mention this since it's not an every day affair and it might be useful for someone like yourself during a fast.
Hopefully the BPs and the Celtic salt will get you going. From what you wrote (BMs once every 2 weeks) previously I would say you definetly have issues with bowel movements that need to be addresed. The BPs are a good start and you should continue them even after you finish the MC. If the Celtic salt doesn't work it's magic I would encourage you to consider an enema or a colonic.
Thanks Pepe. I am very in tune with my bod and open-minded to anything so I will try your suggestions. As you probably have guessed I avoid carbs and sugar so for me to ingest the maple syrup without a second thought I must really want this to work! I will also look into the Super Slow weight training.
I have not and will not get on the scale until I feel I am finished with this process. I do not want to turn this into something it isn't. Besides being bloated I have experienced nothing but great things!
A side note - my muscles appear fuller, not flat and depleted like I thought they would. I do not believe I am losing any mass along with the weight/water.
The basic routine of SSWT is to do your reps on a slow 10 count both on the positive and the negative and have enough weight on that you will fail your 5th rep but still push through the 10 count at the point of failure. To get more mojo from the workout
at the apex of the positive rep you can add a 2 count and flex/squeeze and keep up the flex on the negative part of the rep.
Good posture, form and "normal" breathing thoughout are also very important aspects of this training.
I can tell you from personal experience that it kicked my butt(in a good kinda way ;+D) the first time I tried it. Where my regular routine of 3 sets of 10 reps bringing to failure on the 3rd set took me 1.5 hrs I could now do it in .5 hrs or less with SSWT. On my regular routine by the time I left the gym I would be calm and breathing normal by the time I got dressed and left the gym. With SSWT it takes me close to 45 mins before I resume normal breathing after I've left the gym.
The other part of the theory is that the microtears you get from bringing the exercises to failure take more than one day to repair/heal and build muscle so for the average person the claim is to do it only once a week. No doubt that for a competive BB like yourself that that is cetainly not enough. My guess is that the SSWT for competitive BBs like yourself it could be used for maintenance say every 3 days while fasting.
Let me know if you try this and what you think about it. I would love to hear the opinion of a competitive athelete on the method.
I found SSWT while researching cause of my current busy schedule I couldn't do my minimun 3 days a week gym thing. I have only been doing it for around 3 months but sometimes with my present schedule I've had to skip a week between far more times than I care to admit so I can't fully vouch for it's efficacy. I can only go by my intuition and the pumped feeling that stays with me 4 to 5 days after my workouts.
the 'standard' thing i've read about muscles/juice fasting is that it takes about 10 days to return to your pre-fasting strength.
i would take it easy on the weights, personally. weightlifting puts considerable strain on the joints and connective tissue, lower back, knees, rotator cuff, etc, that you may not know you are injured until it's "too late"...
why not let this time for your body to heal itself? you'll end up with a better "infrastructure" to build on.
For an epson salt bath, just follow the instructions on the back of the box....it's basically just putting a couple cup's worth of it in a hot bath, and laying there... it's nice.
maybe i'll do one tonite myself come to think of it! i've been doing saunas, which are incredibly intense during a fast, but you get soooo relaxed after.
Well LQ you seem set against doing the SWF so the only option that I can think of is an enema.
Mr. Burroughs advices against them and I'm not too sure about them myself but then again I've never had problem with BMs in my entire life. I do think they're a possible solution when all else fails.
Hi,
today is day 3 for me too,
I just did the SWF. I only do it every few days as it works so much for me that I don't even need the Lax tea.
I feel a little slow today, as I did yesterday, but last night I had TONS of energy.
I am resting all day day. I am hanging in there, and my food fantasies are now replaced with thoughts of healthy eating plans.
So, good luck and enjoy the cleanse!
I find sticking to a set routine to be of great help in maintaining the cleanse. So far I feel better than last week and I'm beginning to pick up a lot of energy and my skin is beginning to show the changes that come along with the MC.
Usual routine:
5:30am Wake up and do the SWF. I find one fo the most important parts of the MC is the SWF. It is a great flush for your system after sleeping while your body is breaking stuff down. Without the SWF the MC would not seem complete. I head back to bed for a bit before the inevitable.
7:00am Start the lemonade part and use throughout the day. I find drinking 10 oz. at a time keeps me fulfilled rather than sipping at a bottle of it. I found that I cut out 30 oz. of lemonade this way.
5:00 B&P shake when I get home from work while I make another batch of lemonade for the next day. After this I either head to a yoga class or do an hour and a half of cycling/walking/hiking making sure to keep enough lemonade on hand to keep from "bonking" or getting too tired.
8:00another B&P shake for "dinner"
10:30 I'll drink senna tea while finishing up home improvement stuff or working in my studio (music/art) before hitting the sack around midnight or so.
