I am a retired Veterinarian; I doctored horses and
cattle for 25 years and then I did only the Small Animals. The article I read
in Discover Magazine on milk brought back many memories. When the farmers kept
a milk cow on the farm to feed the weaner calves, there were few digestive
problems.
But when no dairy cows were
available they went to the local store and got “Store Bought” milk for the
calves to drink. Soon the calves died with diarrhea.
I thought milk was
milk but I soon found out that the Pasteurized and Homogenized milk could not be
digested by these calves. Homogenization broke the fat globule into such a
small bit that it wouldn’t curd in the stomach and passed directly into the
small intestine where it created severe inflammation. I called it toxic
enteritis. I learned to treat these cases with Goats milk which has the largest
fat globule of any milk found on the farm. The calves made a quick recovery if
the patient hadn’t gotten too debilitated.
I too drank a lot of milk when we milked cows
on the farm. I never Had any adverse effects from drinking a quart or more at
one time. When I went on to college and I was using “store bought milk” I got
so I drank very little milk and what I did drink reacted in my system like a
poison. I was told I was allergic to milk. Now 50 years later, a friend, who
has a milk cow out in the country, asked me if I could use some milk. I
accepted and for three years now I can drink milk like I did when I lived on the
farm. I have no adverse side effects. This milk is raw milk, also not
Homogenized. The only other question I have to answer has to do with the effect
pasteurization has on the natural enzymes. The destruction of these during the
pasteurization process could effect the digestibility of milk. Now that I am
retired I have plenty of time to reflect on such things. What do you think?
in ancient india it is reccomended that you drink milk "sipping"-hot.
does anyone know if this will affect the quality?
thanks for any replies..

I would like to offer my support and encouragement of Dr. Smith's findings. I can offer two anecdotal accounts of human cases: my own and that of my daughter.
In my own case, I had a sebbhorea rash on my scalp and face, and behind the ears that persisted for years. The flakes of skin were very waxy (one could say "cheesy"). I had absolutely no luck with any doctors or lotions. I was lethargic, angry and had bad memory for names. I took to drinking alcohol and coffee to boost my energy, which only made the symptoms worse. In desperation I did a full fast and intestinal cleanse, using Natural factors 7 day cleanse + detox. I extended the cleanse with salads for an additional 3 days. In that time I stopped all substances except for fresh produce, fruits, whole grains and beans, and some fresh meat. The effect was staggering: I expected to gain some energy, but my skin rash disappeared completely! My memory improved so much that I can walk down the street and instantly remember the names of everyone I meet. My work has improved (I'm a computer programmer) and I sleep only 7 hours per night instead of 11. One by one I began to reintroduce foods to see which one is the culprit, and I can say with great certainty that commercial milk products cause sebbhorea rash. I have reintroduced all foods, including coffee and alcohol, but no rash unless I include foods that contain commercial dairy products.
When she was two year old, my daughter was suffering from mysterious skin rashes that looked like mild burns, and had stomach aches in the middle of the night. She also vomited her milk frequently and suffered from bouts of diarrhea. We are fortunate to have an organic goat farmer in our town who loves children and provided milk for us. Instantly all of her problems disappeared when we took away the commercial cow milk. She has been drinking goat milk for two years now and is robust, large, intelligent and social. We could not get goat milk for two months in the spring, so we gave her commercial goat milk, but her problems instantly returned, then disappeared again as soon as she was back to the good milk.
The dairy industry has lost their way, feeding poison to the general public. My hope is that they are simply ignorant and not conscienceless.
