Athiests should be comforted that the discovery of a skeleton of a race of humans different than ours was found. Now we know that creationism is wrong, evolution is right. Its hard to believe we are still arguing this, but maybe now it will stop.
This skeleton evidence suggests this other race lived alongside us. Maybe we interacted a bit.
so take heart athiests - we may be in the minority but we are right. This is the way it allways has to be - any new thing, every step in evolution, has to have a minority that comes along before they become a majority. A few differnt ones at first, often declared to be freaks and are killed, eventually are accepted and may even take over if their qualities are superior. We do want the human race to continuie to improve, right? so when a new idea or trait comes along, lets embrace it instead of trying to bury it and ignore it, or kill it.
We [atheists] may be attacked now, by christians who are feeling very insecure now that one of the cornerstones of their doctrines has been crushed. I hope we will avoid conflict,
I hope we respond to any attacks with grace and goodwill, understanding and even sympathy 'for their loss'. Remember that a defeat brings on some hostile responses at times, and it will die down with time. Lets give them a bit of room, they have a tendancy to become violent.

- its all those centuries of crimes against humanity by christians that drives my scorn. All that fear, guilt, humility and so on, it twisted me up pretty badly in early life. I was really afraid of god and the devil, and I was convinced by christians that I was evil. Every night I thought I would "die before I wake" as in that awfull prayer we used to say. So its just something I have to work out.

Volcanic eruptions may have played a critical part in the development of early life. Scientists have found that a toxic gas often ejected by volcanoes can help link amino acids into short chains called peptides, the simple precursors of proteins.
In the study, Reza Ghadiri of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, and colleagues exposed a watery solution of amino acids to poisonous carbonyl sulfide fumes. Even at room temperature, the gas helped amino acids join into groups of twos or threes. The reaction also occurred in seawater, while the addition of metals to the solution made the linking go even faster.
Reported in the journal Science, the experiment is among the few to demonstrate the formation of peptides in conditions common on early Earth. The finding suggests terrestrial volcanoes as well as undersea hydrothermal vents might well be cradles of life.

thats news story is the beginning of life on earth. From there, we can see a clear path all the way to single celled organisims.And from those came we. there was lots of time, unimaginable time. It is scary to know how long life has been on earth... The first steps took 3 billion years , all those 100s of years just trying to combine an amino acid, 100s of those centuries, and thats just part of one million years, and there is a 1000 of them in a billion. Never said darwin has ALL the answers but at least he gave an honest account without the dogma of of some presumptuous fairy tale! Not one thing in the bible is accountable for anything it says!
