I can't stand it!!!!!!!!! I can't read even one message all the way through. It's like I have to learn a completely different language just so I can communicate
"Am I sinning if I have an urge to skip church?"
If it was my kid or my sister or something, it would be a different story--I'd have a vested interest and probably care. But these are total strangers to me. I don't support their self-imposed limitations any more than they support my own individualistic, judgmental self-righteousness.
Better start changing your ways, cuz you might be wrong... and eternal damnation ain't no walk in the park. Better to be safe and spend your life questioning yourself and repenting than to risk the devil layin a deuce in your face for eternity... that's a long time my friend.
....oooooooof course you can say some words right before you die that will make all of your actions on earth irrelevant. "Yaaaaaay God!" might work... check the Christianity Forum just to make sure though...
Those guys are completely lost. They are waisting their life completely. It makes me extremely, extremely sad for those people. So many lost lives... Not only lost, but very often harmful to OTHERS too!!
I wish they'd realize that when they pray nobody hears them except themselves. Then maybe they could stop being such hypocrites. They say they're all about love but really christians are the most hateful people. And so is their stupid god in the bible, even though he's just a CHARACTER. He's an evil liar! I hate him
I usually have a look daily. My mother was a fundy, I also have a close friend who was raised fundy. I totally understant all the bible fundy speak.
My experience, is that most people (like 99%) that glob on to the rigors of religious fundamentalism are ususally very bigoted, power hungrey, self-rightous, intolarent people. They love to use fear to manipulate other people. They love to look down on other people, it is always a contest to be the most rightous. I have vivid memories of this.
Plus the chrisian fundys think Harry Potter books are evil. I love those books! Being a fundy means you can never truely have fun or be happy, and there is always a bully looking for a chance to belittle you.
I'm sorry you feel that way about Christians, and the Christian faith.
ff,
I'm sorry you have met so many Christians that are bigoted, self righteous and intolerant people. I too have met Christians like that. I can easily say that they are not easy people to be around, and therefore I stay away from them. That is my choice.
However, even though I am a Christian I have lots of fun. Every day is filled with fun and joy. Not rules and legality. (that is not fun)
I find it fun to treat my neighbor with respect and love, It is fun to NOT murder, lie, cheat, steal - it is fun to be living morally right. Because then, you don't live with and guilt or circumstance that arises from immoral living.
ff, Ichiro, Uncas and Nick5: if you and I were neighbors you might be surprised because I wouldn't treat you any differently than one of my Christian friends. Meaning you would be treated with the same respect and love. No bigotry involved.
It's much easier to love than to hate. It is much easier to see positive things than negative things in life. It is much easier to forgive than to hold grudges. (healthier too)
I have many friends and family members that are NOT Christians. We get along just fine. There is no contest going on where we are trying to convert each other or be self righteous. We respect each other and have thriving friendships.
It's a shame that so many people have violated Christianity down through the ages. It sure makes it hard on every one else that lives according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ev, I am sure you do your best to be a kind hearted person.
I do want to get one thing strait. Religion and morality have NOTHING to do with each other. As an atheist, I choose compassion, tolarence, mercy, kindness and respect. Not because some book written by men tells me to or I will burn in hell. I choose this for myself because it brings me inner peace.
So, thanks for letting all of us here at the atheist debate forum know what a wonderfully tolerent, unbigoted person you really are. I'm sure all your nonchristian friends and family appreciate your humility and lack of self rightousness as much as we do here at the curezone.
Just as a side note, I wanted to also mention that thankfully we all have the freedom to choose what we will believe when if comes to faith, religion and spirituality.
Why would anyone be a regular visitor to the Christian forum if it disgusts them so much?
Usually if someone doesn't like something they distance themselves from it.
I'm also thankful that you think I'm a great person! However it was not my intention for you to come to that conclusion. It was my intention to make the point that not all Christians are ogres. Unfortunately that prejudiced stereotype flows freely here.
I hope this message was not directed as a response to my post. Just to make my possion clear. I never said Christianity disgusted me. It doesn't. Im curious about it, and wonder why some people are so attracted to it. My mother is very much devoted to Christianity. However, being curious dosn't mean I want to participate in the practice of Christianity. I like to read about lots of different things I don't necessarily want to join up in. Such as Urine Therapy. No way. That is why I never post messages in either place.
Making up a story about a grand earthly plan with an imaginary ruler who loves you, and whom you "speak to" is much better than drinking your own piss.
Few decisions are this cut-and-dry. Make up a wonderful story and ignore reality, or drink my own piss. Hmmmm.
Maybe I'll just get stoned and stick my dick in a light socket.
I am not a regular visitor to said forum. In fact, I think I've been over there only twice in my glorious tenure at the CZ, just out of curiosity.
Also, I am not disgusted. I have just come to the conclusion that you have to speak a special retard language to fit in over there. It's confusing to me, yes, and somewhat entertaining. But I do not find it disgusting.
And I do not think Christians are ogres. Not at all. I think they are retards.
At least acknowledge that you didn't read my message before you post.
I don't blame you for not reading what I wrote. I do that all the time with messages I know I will not comprehend, and I probably don't read your messages very closely either.
But if I am going to respond to someone directly, I will either (1)read the message in its entirety, or (2)state that I could not read all of that drivel.
"I find it fun to treat my neighbor with respect and love, It is fun to NOT murder, lie, cheat, steal - it is fun to be living morally right"
Well guess what, ME TOO! Except I came up with my moral code myself, not because of a stupid book! Yes kindness and friendship and helping others bring me joy and peace!
But masturbating and having sex while not being married is also great and fun! (and btw I AM faithful to my girlfriend and would never think of cheating on her... we're even gonna get married, but NEVER in a church!)
And there are tons of things that the bible says are wrong, that are actually right and a lot of fun to do!
I do agree that murder and stealing and all that stuff is bad (in general). But it's not because of a fairy tale book. It's because I've decided so myself. You could say in a way that I have chosen to be my own god. Because of that, I do not consider myself an atheist.
"It's much easier to love than to hate. It is much easier to see positive things than negative things in life. It is much easier to forgive than to hold grudges. (healthier too)"
Actually, and I know I've said this before, but this is not true. Sure love is an amazing feeling, and my life IS full of love and joy. I feel the deepest love... towards those who deserve it! let's say someone murdered your parents... would you love them? If you say yes, you are lying. The natural feeling would be the desire to take revenge, and make them him die in the most painful way imaginable. THAT would feel good, and it would be extremely satisfying. You could try to bury that feeling, and succeed, but it would be hypocrisy.
How about if some guy was pointing a gun at your head, and told you to get naked and that he's gonna rape you, would you love him? OF COURSE NOT. An intelligent person would try to get out of that sh*t by hurting the guy real bad or something.
Trying to love everyone is not only stupid and unnatural, it can also be very dangerous. To have a full life you need both love AND hate.
Of course whenever I meet a new person I am very open, I have the desire to know that person, see if we have things in common, etc. BUT if that person happens to be mean, or even just annoying, it would be unnatural to try to love him/her... that's what wrong with christianity. Loving everyone is impossible, and trying to do so will only diminish the love you can give to those who DO deserve it.
Plus the bible god is a mean and evil guy who likes to destroy stuf and kill people. Oh and he doesn't exist. And jesus was not who you think he was. You seem like a good person though so I'll just respect your beleif but you should consider that you could be wrong. Just because you chose that religion doesn't mean it's true, there are thousands of others that are just as likely to be true. It,s even probable that none of them are true, since they were all created by human people. Do you even know how christianity started? And I'm not talking about the bible version of how it started.
