I was delighted to see this forum listed. I thought it would be a good way of conversing with people who share similar views. I would also like to read inspiring posts and learn about other people and what makes them special.
I hope that the people who are forcing religion on this forum move somewhere else. It is difficult finding support when most of the posts criticise my beliefs.
but, I feel that it is only fair that if you expect others to be tolerant of your beliefs, then you should be more tolerant of theirs in return (it works two ways). I have not noticed anyone being aggressive or FORCING anything on anyone, but this forum is like anything else in life, if you insist on not being tolerant, you will have reason to be uncomfortable (pure logic). I don't know if I should be feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious, but I am because many people are being intolerant.
I think I would understand this point of view better if someone would give an example of forcing religion. To me, forcing means "you will go to hell if you don't go to church!" or "repent or die!". On the other hand, sharing personal beliefs and opinons opens the mind to the realm of learning and understanding. It would be most helpful if an example of force was given, so I understand the insult/hurt.
Expressing a strong opinion can be intimidating to some people and they can feel overwhelmed if the statements made are irrefutable, that is usually the cause of someone feeling intimidated by another persons opinion. Very often, the person will subconsciously "choose" to feel insulted and uncomfortable instead of "live and let live". But, being "forced" is like being threatened, if there is no ultimatum or consequences, it is not coercion and should not be seen as "being compelled" to agree.
Someones opinion that they are "being forced" is usually a perception and a REaction, unless ACTION has actually been taken against them.
Perhaps those posts are best "marked" as something that might insult another. That way they don't need to be surprised. I need to take a closer look at the choices on the posting page!
