I am in the middle of doing a Dr. Jensen 7 day bowel cleanse, using apple juice to mix the cleansing drink, as directed. I plan to start a Body Ecology type diet for candida afterwards. It has actually been pretty easy so far, I believe because of the sugar in the apple juice. Of course, once I start the diet, I will have to cut out all sugar/carbs, and go through withdrawal, which I know is really intense for me...My question is this: I am considering stoping using the apple juice, and using vegetable juice instead, like v8 (no juicer yet). Is this a good idea, to try to go ahead and stabilize my blood sugar levels while basically fasting, and then going into a low carb/sugar diet? I need to start a new job in a week, and I need to be over the hump of the withdrawal by then.
I would not be surprised if V8 had some sugar in its concoction.... so then it would not be any better. If V8 is sugar free go for it, it is not as good as fresh veg. juice, but juice as good as any brand of commercial apple juice.
It would be fantastic if you could find somewhere in your city, where they sell fresh carrot juice. I do not bother using my juicer since I found such a place in my town. Carrot juice works marvel - because of the carotene (vit A). Like apple, it will force some bile out of the gallbladder.... so if you get some green stool- do not freak out, it is simply the bile that makes it turn green.
Otherwise, there is a palliatve to the juicer: the blender. 1- Blend carrots with water 2- allow time for the fiber to deposit to the bottom (20 minutes) and pour a glass -(or else, pour immediately and drink with a straw).
You say:" Is this a good idea, to try to go ahead and stabilize my blood sugar levels while basically fasting, and then going into a low carb/sugar diet? "
Fasting is a wonderful idea, with or without starting a new job- for, remenber the golden rule when fasting: ONLY FAST UNTIL YOUR ENERGY LEVEL REMAINS HIGH- STOP when you start to feel tired. Stopping might simply mean a semi-fast: light breakfast, fasting over lunch and a vegetable soup or a broth for dinner.

Just learn to listen to your body, when you do, every time you actually cheat on the diet, you can feel the side effect on your body. It makes it quite easy not to cheat, cause you feel so much better.
Isnt carrot juice pretty sugary? Im not sure If I got my main question across...I know that once I stop taking in sugary foods, Im going to go through a period during which I cant work, at least not start a job. The cleanse Im on now has me on apple juice, which is high in sugar, and would be off limits for my upcoming diet. Its not really fasting, but a juice fast /bowel cleanse. Is it healthy to try to go on a low sugar vegetable juice with no other nutrition for several days, and then start the candida diet?
I dont know if the insulin levels will stabilize while I am not getting many calories during the cleanse...Hope that made some sense. Im on day three and really surprised that Im not hungry...I am assuming it is because I am getting the apple juice sugar. Thanks for your help!
