I set appts for colonics before and after my flush which I planned
for July 7. I have to make those appts well ahead of time because
my colonic therapist is very busy.
I've been taking Gold Coin Grass in the mornings for the past 3 and a half weeks along with Coptis and Curcuma at night. Before the GCG
I took Chinese Bitters in the morning for 2 weeks or more.
Here's my dilemma. It appears that I don't have enough GCG to make it until July 7. Seems I remember in one of your posts that it's ok to take Chinese Bitters instead the last few days before the flush. Is that right?
As I look at Mrs. Chang's directions, I notice that they say to take Chinese Bitters a few days before the flush. Based on the amount of GCG left in the bottle, I may run out of it about 5 days before my scheduled flush. So, I would be taking Chinese Bitter those last 5 days. Does that seem ok? Taking it for as many as 5 days?
My other choice would be to use the colonic I have scheduled as the
"before flush" clean out as the "after flush" clean out instead, therefore, moving up the time of my flush by 3 days and having to use the Chinese Bitters in place of GCG for only 3 days.
Maybe it doesn't make any difference, but since this is my first time at attempting a flush, I want to get good results.
One thing I'm concerned about is that I had no reaction to taking
the daily tablespoon of Chinese Bitters in the first weeks, no headache or anything. I'm very deficient in glutathione and a biochemist friend of mine said that the deficiency may contribute to not having much bile and not having a very good flush. Do you have any opinion on that? He has never known anyone who has done a flush.
stop taking the GCG until the 5 days prior to the flush. Until then, only take larger doses of the Chinese Bitters and Coptis. Take CB in the morning, Coptis at night, and increase dose of CB until you get a headache. This will ensure a most succesful flush! :)
If you can drink apple cider vinegar 4 days prior to the flush in addition to the GCG, that also would help ensure a very successful flush.
If you can, drink ginger tea as often as possible from now until then, it is another agent that promotes bile. Get dandelion tea if you can for the same reason and alternate or combine.
Hmmm, what you're saying is a little different from Mrs. Chang's
directions if I'm understanding you correctly. You're saying to
stop taking CGC as of today; take Chinese Bitters (a.m.) and Coptis
(p.m.)increasing the dosage until I get a headache(to make sure it's
working). Continue the CB and Coptis until 5 days before the flush,
then take the GCG again - for the last 5 days. Is that right?
I'm surprised because my written directions from Mrs. Chang say
to finish the GCG bottle, then take CB "for a few days" before the
flush. Have you found this other way is better?
I'm glad to learn that ginger and dandelion tea help promote bile. That's good additional info. And I'll use the apple cider vinegar. I've read that the cloudy, unfiltered kind is best.
I'll look forward to your reply so that I can be sure I'm understanding this and doing it in the best way possible.
are you sure you're reading that right? the little slip of paper I got says the opposite! LOL! :) GCG is supposed to crush stones, so you'd want to take that prior to a flush to crush the stones. Then CB helps cleanse the liver until your next flush.
Here is the information from the site that says Chinese Bitters should be started first if the liver is congested. This is similar, really, to your statement about taking CB between flushes. But for someone who hasn't taken the herbs before, they would take the CB 1st to decongest the liver, then the GCG, then a few days of CB again.

Julia Chang's words on the site:
"If the liver is congested, bile flow is restricted. As a result, there is insufficient bile in the gallbladder to push the stones out.
One of our products, Chinese Bitters (available exclusively from Prime Health Products, Tel: 416-248-2930), has been found to be very effective in decongesting the liver. However, Chinese Bitters should not be taken in conjunction with Gold Coin Grass (GCG) because they may be too much for the liver and gallbladder to adjust. Chinese Bitters is usually started first. After a few weeks of liver decongestion, Gold Coin Grass can be started to replace Chinese Bitters.
When the Gold Coin Grass is finished, Chinese Bitters may be taken again for a few days before the flush. During the flush, Chinese Bitters can still be taken to ensure that the liver is not congested."
This is basically what my little paper says: "After 3 weeks of Chinese Bitters, start taking GCG instead of the Bitters. When the bottle of GCG is finished, you can do the flush. Chinese Bitters
may be taken again during the flush or even started a few days before the flush to ensure that the liver is not congested."
So, after talking with Mrs. Chang on the phone, I started taking CB, which I took for 3 weeks, then the GCG, which I have been taking for almost 4 weeks. I have some of the Bitters left, which I was planning to take the last few days before the flush in order to do a final decongesting of the liver.
My earlier question had to do with my concern about how many days to use the CB before the flush, since it is described in the vague term of "a few days." But after rereading all of this and thinking about it, I'm realizing that it probably isn't going to matter whether it's 3 days or 5.
I believe if I build up the dosage of CB for a few days, as you suggest, and take ACV, ginger and dandelion tea, my liver will become decongested enough so that the stones (that have already been crushed by 4 weeks of taking GCG) will be able to come through just fine when I do the flush next week.
As always, you have been very helpful. Your comments made me go back and reread the site, as well as my little paper. I feel clearer about it all. I think that my liver is very congested because my Great Smokies liver panal showed phase 2 was not detoxing normally. So, the extra Bitters will be good to take along with the teas and ACV.
I will appreciate any further comments you might have.
Thanks again,
Annie
Kewlness! that's more particular then what I have on the slip, yet it doesn't contradict what I understood the herbs to do, so great! :) Whew! :)
Yep, 3 days, 5 days, probably doesn't matter. And remember, you'll be doing more than one Liver Flush for best results! so don't think you have to get out all those pesky stones in the very first flush. In fact, if we WERE able to flush out ALL the toxins at the outset, we'd probably get way way too sick from the flushes and then no one would do them! ;)
