I have a suggestion that I feel pretty excited about. I'll offer it to you first in the event that you are able to do something with it, (and because you have already conceived a well-constructed, well-intentioned, wonderful, helpful website). If you aren't able to incorporate the suggestion, perhaps I'll explore creating a website for this idea on my own.
It is hard to get any statistical idea of the efficacy of various diets and therapies. When presented with a huge array of therapies to address a health issue, I think many or most people would love to see those kind of statistics as part of their research. Such statistics could expose the inefficacy of misdirected therapies and attract support and attention to those that work well for lots of people.
I'd like to see a website that includes a database where interested people, such as those that visit this forum, can begin compiling what may be the first database on the efficacy of various health related therapies and diets. There could be a section of the site where people who've tried the various therapies and diets listed on your site give a concise summary of their experience with the therapy or diet they tried and and some sort of recommendation that can be tallied automatically and statistically-- pro or con or uncertain, or various other rating gradations that would indicate the efficacy of the diet or therapy for that individual. Along with general statistics as to the efficacy of various therapies and diets, the database could include number of people tallied, and various other sorting options such as body type, medical condition, etc.) The review/summary from each person tallied would back up the statistical data and allow interested people to read valuable specifics on a case by case basis. The specifics and statistical ratings could be updateable by each individual who writes a review/summary as their condition evolves or resolves or whatever.
So far as I know, nothing like this exists, and a lots of people are interested in this kind of data. Mainstream research has done few and isolated studies particularly on alternative therapies and offers nothing like this. People who are sick or recovering or well or otherwise interested in health issues have significant reason to want to contribute and help compile such data.
Your forum it could be a significant source of data and grassroots co-education. It could be to the health field what the venerable and widely loved "craigslist" is to general community building.
Any thoughts about this from your end?
