I am a candidtate for gallbladder removal. In my case, I believe it is the way to go because my situation is polyp, rather than stone related.
Words can't describe the outrage your story has invoked in me. Profane words come to mind, but not knowing you I will not take this kind of familiar liberty by using any of them.
I really hope you sue the mother*&%$!! (woops)
When doctors started vocalizing their complaints about the outrageous malpractice insurance rates, I just knew there was another side to the story, and you gave it to me.
Thankyou for taking the time to share your story. Your intitiative is a noble act of generocity, and I will be extra careful to scrutinize every aspect of my treatment.
I have three wishes for you:
Vindication
Success in your network
Please smell the flowers - life is still sweet, and sweeter still when we realize how it cruelly slips through the fingers of us all.
I'm very glad I just read your message. I'm from Dublin in Ireland and I just got an ultra sound scan today which showed up a gallstone.
My doctor, who sent me for the scan supecting a gallstone, hasn't yet seen the result. But before the scan, without even knowing if I had stones, nor how big they might be, said that if I have them "we'll just whip out your gall bladder".
I asked if there was any downside to that and he simply said there's always a potential downside to anyhthing, some people get a little diorrhea!
He never explained anything like what happened to you, nor offerred any other options such as liver flushes which I've just read about.
I now know that no matter what I'm not getting the bladder out.
Thank you very much for sharing your information. I'm sure you've actually saved quite a number of people from the fate your suffering.
I too had an ultrasound scan today and it showed 2 small gallstones. I had a scan 15 years ago which showed several very small stones. I opted out of surgery at that time because it was going to be open cholesectomy. I did a liver/gallbladder flush using olive oil and went on a low fat diet. I had managed to stay well for all this time.
I've had some pain recently and wondered about the new procedure. I am glad I read these messages regarding laparoscopic surgery.
Once again, it looks like it's not a good option. I also realize it is not good to leave the stones in there. I have since discovered that there are some therapies using a combination of Chinese herbs and the liver/gallbladder flush that can be effective. Definitely worth looking into. It may be worth going to see a Chinese medicine doctor or an alternative practitioner.
I had an ultrasound done because I was in severe pain. The docter found that I had a hernia and repaired it. But now he is saing there is sludge in my gallbladder that can form stones. The docter has suggested gallbladder removal and I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow. I feel I should cancle and seek other options. Does anyone here know of any non surgical options? I would appreciate any feed back.
Marcus,
I just read your letter about gall stones. I hope you have not had
yours removed yet. There is a way. Several health oriented areas
on the web display ways to cleanse liver, gallbladder, spleen,
many variations. The recipe that is working for me is extra virgin
olive oil and reconstituted lemon juice found at the market. It
is recommended to use real lemon juice, I have tried that. Makes
no difference to me. Tastes the same, works the same. Yeckky!!
Before I go to bed, I take equal parts of olive oil. approx. 5-6
teaspoons, get that down, then 5-6 teaspoons of lemon juice. Go
to bed, lay on right side, so as to drain stomach, I am also
cleasning, with psyllium husks whole to create a path so to speak.
Found in your local health food store. It not only is the very
best fiber, but also absorbs toxins. I take a tsp. of this in
morning, with 1/2 cup water 20-30 minutes before breakfast. Anyway
take this @ night, steadily, and in a couple of days, you will pass many many stones. Lemon juice softens, olive oil I guess is
the lubricant. There is some discomfort associated with this, and
I am a Baby, if I can tolerate it , most can. You will be amazed
how much better you will start to feel. That is the freedom we
have to doctor ourselves. I make sure to eat proper, take vits.min. must build while we cleanse, to keep defenses up, other
wise will defeat purpose. By the way, you probably want to start
this on your weekend, when you don't have to be at work.
I am not seeing doctor's anymore, I wouldn't tell them anyway,
they couldn't help me last year, but, boy did they and the insurance company get rich. Good luck to you.! Mary Lou

I just read your message and I am extremely interested in your treatment routnes. I will have a HIDA Scan and sonogram performed tomorrow and I want to have all the options.
How often do you take the Olive oil and lemon juice treatment, yearly, weekly? Also, have modern medicine validated that the Gallstones are removed?
Since I am starting the process any information will be useful.
Hello everyone I am a new member. I am 23 and have been for about 1 year getting seriously in thought and in research about things to better my health and my children's health. One of the first things I researced and till this day my husband thinks I am a freak for being against vaccinations. Any way I just want some advice. I had a gall bladder removed 3 years ago. SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT MY HEALTH BECAUSE OF THIS. I truely regret it but I was young and ignornant and stuped into believing I had no other option then 1 year later I was reading a alternative medicine book and that is how I learned I WAS STUPED. I feel terrible about that. I wish I could have my organ back! Any way what should I do now? What should be my concerns? I have a totally bad memory, terrible concentration, easily distracted, etc! What should I do? I will not be stuped into believing I HAVE ADHD! lol ... Please advice...
Also my kids are up to date with their vaccines (their next vaccines are at 4... I have a husband who is not on my page when it comes to health... He LOVES DOCTORS and the "new advance in medicine!") So far Thanks the lord they are fine but should I worry for them? What can I do to make sure they grow up to be healthy adults? (unlike many of us who didn't have parents researching or learning ways to be TRUELY HEALTHY)
PS I am overweight and have been ALL MY LIFE that I can remember and see in pictures. I weight 185 and am 5'2. Please advice... Also should I post this thread in other places of this forum?
Well, I'm not sure if you will get this message regarding your gallbladder removal. You can take some supplements to assist you with digestion, since your gallbladder is no longer available to do it's job. I listen to Dr. Bob Marshall on Christian radio. His site is healthline.cc. You may call 800-370-3447 and ask them what you need to take to help with your digestion. By the way, their products are advertized as pure with no artificial preservatives or fillers. I have ordered their stuff myself and what they advertise is true.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your gallbladder. My pastors wife had hers removed even after I had suggested the liver/gallbladder flush as a possible fix before the surgery, but she wasn't open to it and had the surgery anyway. I am curious as to how her health is these days. So sad. May God bless you and I pray you get this information! Trish
hi, i just want u and everyone to know that its time for us to be responsible for ourselves, our health and well being, and not depend on the dr. i have had 9 surgeries in the last 10 years due to back, neck and knee problems. i was suposed to have my gallbladder out april 17th,06. and a few days before the surgery i read these stories and cancelled the surgery. my dr. gave me no info, just said i needed it out because of stones. at first i agreed, but after some reading on this site, i decided to do the flush. i have had some good dr. who have helped me, but most of them have tried to give me atleast 10 drugs that i refused to take. theres nothing wrong with me, but if i had taken the drugs, i'd be sick or dead, and thats a fact. we have the right as a patient to ask questions, and if we dont get an answer we feel comfortable with, we have the right to go to as many dr. as we want until we get results. when i tell my dr. i take natural products, they look at me like i have 2 heads. after all, their the ones who went to school for years and spent all the money to learn those big words. god bless us all
i had my gallbladder removed 5 weeks ago. i'm having severe pain in my lower right quadrant of my abdomen. I went to the doctor last week and he basically shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know why. he mentioned it could be a trocar injury. I'm now having to take more time off work to go for a nerve block. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if you've had a nerve block and what to expect. I'm not really in favor of this as I'm afraid it will leave numbness and will wear off at some point and bring back the pain. I also think my doctor thought I was lying, because he wouldn't give me anything for pain. Why do they expect people to just "Live with it" when there's stuff taht will help you get through the day?
I recently went through the ordeal of having my gallbladder removed. I also have Crohn's disease and was diagnosed in 1993 after many years of trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Through all of these years, I have never been properly treated for pain. When a person has their gallbladder removed, although it is now done laproscopically, there is still alot going on in their, even the ribs are still retracted. Approximately 25% of these surgeries result in a condition called intercostal neuropathy. This is an inflammation in the tissues between the rib bones. I have already had two nerve blocks for this condition and will have at least one, if not two, more. In all of the years that I have been sick and in agonizing pain on a daily basis, the nerve block is the only procedure that has given me any hope for a successful outcome. Of course, I will still have to deal with the Crohn's pain, but the doctor believes that there is something that he can do for my Crohn's pain along the lines of the nerve block. My husband and I are excited to have an appointment next with to discuss the possibilities. The nerve block itself, on the intercostal neuropathy, was a walk in the park! Honestly. I am the biggest baby in the world when it comes to medical procedures and I did just fine. They put in a small needle IV so that the doctor can administer pain, anesthesia and amnesia meds. I'm pretty sure that this whole procedure would be extremely painful, if it weren't for these meds. After it was over, I laid in a recovery room, taking the greatest nap I had taken in years, until they let me go home. The procedure can take 3 or more weeks to fully work, and the pain can get worse before it gets better. And, as I said before, it can take a few procedures to take care of all of the inflammation. But, please believe me, this is the most beneficial medical procedure I have ever undertaken. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I have been sick for so many years, and to have found this wonderful doctor and excellent procedure, it has surely saved my life. I was at the point where I couldn't take the pain any longer and wasn't sure if I could go on. It was that bad. Now, after two nerve blocks, I already notice a tremendous difference. If I could, I'd gladly kiss this doctor's feet! In other words, I highly recommend it. I am the worst sissy when it comes to medical procedures, but I sailed right through it so I believe anyone can. Oh, I forgot to tell you, the meds that they give through your IV, they knock you silly so you don't know what is going on anyway and you won't remember any of it afterwards. Please don't be afraid of this. Just be sure to find a doctor who has done quite a few procedures to be sure that he knows what he is doing. I see a Pain Management Physician/Anethesiologist. Good luck!
I have recently been diagnosed to be suffereing from Gall Stones on the basis of an ultrasound of upper abdomen which was done subsequent to 3 incidents of pain in the stomach.
Can i get some help of understanding the encryptic language written in my ultrasound???
I have a gut feeling that my problem is not even remotely linked to GallStones, and is some acute condition of indigestion, etc.
If there is anyone out there who can talk about it, I would be greatly relieved of the stress I am going through.
Unlike apparently most here, I had a very positive experience having my gallbladder removed. I've had troubles with eating fatty foods for years, but the last few I'd occasionally get sharp stomach pains, back aches, and throwing up. I figured it was just the flu and never saw a doctor about it until this past summer when my mother had me go in. As it turned out, I had gall stones, and it was suggested I have my gallbladder removed as my family had a history of this problem.
So, about a month ago, I had my gallbladder removed using the laparoscopic method. I had 10 Gallstones the size of peas or bigger, no damage was done to anything else, I have healed nicely and no longer have any pain, just some itching from healing. I have not even had diahrea. To top it all off, I also have not had heartburn since the surgery. Before the surgery, I had severe heartburn almost the entire day, I was miserable. Now though, I'm doing great. I have no more pain from anything; the surgery, the stones, the heartburn. I'm very glad I went through with the surgery. Everyone was very nice, gentle, and caring with me. My ONLY discomfort was taking the drain tube out, the staples, and having to sleep on my back for a few days, but that's to be expected with surgery.
I was glad to see one positive message in the middle of this gall bladder discussion. I am one step away from gall bladder removal surgery and would like feedback on this if possible. I actually did not show gall stones on the ultrasound, it was entirely normal. However, the hidescan results were abnormal (17%, when 35% and up is normal). My mother also had a diseased gall bladder that stopped working even though she had no stones. She had her's out 25 yrs ago using the "open" method and had no real problems.
I am also looking at another surgery at this time that will cause me to miss 6 weeks of work and spend 3 days in-hospital.
I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on whether to go ahead and get this over with, or to baby it along with a low-fat diet, possible acupuncture and drinking tons of apple juice. I've made it 9 months on the diet and apple juice but my symptoms have become worse lately.
Has anyone tried acupuncture? Should I have another test? Right now I'm confused, the gall bladder "looks" okay, but the failed the functionality test.
This sounds much like my experience. I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago after several months of severe diahrea and the inability to tolerate most foods. After my colonoscope showed nothing, I was told I had IBS and to "live with it". I then went to an alternative care doctor who tried acupuncture and homeopathics. These both helped a great deal, and i also started a new "pain free" diet that I found on the internet. That all worked great for awhile. Then my alternative care doctor ordered a hidescan (sp?) and found my gall bladder was only operating at 18-20%. The radiologist report recommended removal, but the doctor still tried homeopathics and acupuncture. It worked great again for awhile.
The problem I have now is that I've had a terrible flare up again, and my alternative care doctor had to quit his practice due to financial challenges. It's hard for integrative medicine doctors, since most insurance companys don't cover those procedures. To make a long story short, I have been going on for the past 4 months without a doctor's care, but I have been continuing to see the same chiropractor I saw in the doctor's office, and he (as a licensed acupuncturist) is also treating me with acupuncture. The problem is that this time it is only working for a few days at a time.
I actually made an appointment with a new medical doctor last week, but then cancelled it. I know surgery is going to be ordered. My only real concern for NOT having the surgery is "what if" it's Gallbladder Cancer ? At any rate, I'm relatively certain it is NOT IBS which I was first diagnosed with by the gastroenterologist.

It was great to read about your success following the removal of your gall bladder. I'm to have mine out soon, not because I have Gallstones but because it is generally diseased (how much damage it has suffered wont be known til after it's out). I started having the god-awful pain when I was 15. I'm now 21 and the pain is occurring more and more often. Researching the operation on the internet was proving to be a depressing experience, but your story has definitely made me feel a whole lot better. So thankyou. I hope to find many more stories like yours.
