Hi, I was wondering, I'm new here, it seems like many on this forum have
had Amalgam removal. I have about 8 fillings i want to have removed. Can anyone tell me what typical costs would be? I'm seeking a holistic dentist.
I'm concerned it will be too expensive. Because i saw someone mention in excess of $1,000 dollars for just one tooth procedure. If it costs 1,000 per tooth, i will have to live with these fillings.
that's a little disappointing. I was pretty enthused about the possibility of getting my fillings removed. I don't see myself going to Mexico anytime soon. I wanted to do it for preventative measures, but i'll have to reconsider now.
well i dont understand why you think like that!!! why you dont ask dentist in your area if thay would do it on some kind of payment plan!!!! if your serious about your life and your health!!!!
i know thats what i would do!!!! after all i need my teeth!!!! we all need teeth as long as we need to eat food!!!! i my self am vegan and need teeth for all the nuts and seeds i eat!!!LOL
well that depends on what your teeth needs to be done. Replacing Amalgam with composites in the States ranges around $180-$350 per tooth, and for crowns it's probably around $1500 or so? I had mine done for $290/filling, $1450 per porcelain crown/onlay. And mine is consider very expensive and don't even know if it's helping at all...
Hey ageless, I'm a vegan also. I've been since October 2005. I eat nuts, seeds, etc. I want to have optimal health. That's why i was so interested in having my Amalgams removed. I'm a college student, so money is a little difficult.
I think i will continue to try and get the fillings removed from a local holistic dentist. I will go in for a consultation. I just need the amalgams replaced. I don't think i have anymore crowns required, unless removal results in the need for a crown.
I've been vegan from about 1992 on... what would really be funny and amusing is if you also lived here in san francisco...and if you favorite restaurant was gratitudes a raw vegan restaurant...
Sorry, St. Louis MO since birth. And i'm new to the vegan restaurant scene. So i haven't found a good place to go. I pretty much fend for myself the last 9-10months.
Good to talk to another vegan, my family tries to force me to eat meat. Do you know any good vegan forums? Besides here?

They are affected by eating habits, lifestyle, and genetics. An imbalanced body chemistry produces an environment conducive to tooth decay and gum disease. Decayed teeth and periodontitis are outward signs of internal problems.

maybe the dentist is so far gone from all the mercury fillings he removes that he for got that gold is a type of metal!!!!!!LOL!!! and some crazy people may want gold and if the dentist said NO!!! I DO NOT OFFER GOLD!!! then he could lose that client as a patient!!!! or he would have to spend hours talking to pepole just trying to educate them!!!! I really dont belive the dentist is doing wrong by offering gold!!! if thatS what some one really wants in there body!!! I do see alot wrong with offreing amalgam/mercury!!!!!
Gold gets a bad rap. I have brought this subject up before, how gold gets unfairly lumped in with metals like mercury, nickle, palladium, etc... I think gold can be one of the "least evil" of all filling materials (if done correctly with the right alloy).

I actually planned on calling Michael G. Rehme, DDS, office on Monday to set up a consultation for Amalgam removal. It was the financial issue that made me want to change my mind, at first, but after the info you and Airfrance provided, I'm going through with it.
