It's so humiliating to have this. I have a hard time finding a dentist that doesn't make me feel like I'm a scum bag that never brushes or flosses. I have a great fear of dentists and now I get treated like I'm less than.
Any suggestions for home treatment? All they want to do is surgery. My teeth are not lose... yet, but I have deep pockets in two places and one is tender. Other than that I have not had problems with my teeth.
Try oil pulling. It may seem odd, but I have been doing it for a very short amount of time, and my gums are growing back, and my teeth are getting whiter. I'm totally amazed, and it's so easy to do. I was very skeptical, but thought, what the heck! My husband is having the same results, so I know I'm not crazy.
So, I tried it when I got home. YUCK! I swished for 13 minutes which was as long as I could stand it. I have to admit I wanted to puke when I spit it out. I rinsed with soda water then brushed my teeth with baking soda and drank some pomogranite juice to get the sesame taste out of my mouth.
I have to say the place that was very sensitive is not as tender now, but I think that might be hopeful thinking. I'll do it again in the morning.
It's certainly worth a try and if works I'm going to let everyone know because it will be a miracle to me. If it works I'd like to go back to the dentist that made me feel like scum and tell him how it fixed it. JERK!
Get the other oil. The sesame is way too intense (at least for me). Just wait a week. I did twice a day my first week, so I got a major jump start on the process. My teeth used to ache at night. I have receding gums and sensitive enamel. Sometimes they would throb....no more. And that has gone on for years. Heck, does this work, I don't know, but what can it hurt, really?
If you go back, please share with us what this Dentist says? That would be great for the forum.
Can I use olive oil? The other oil was sunflower, right? They didn't have any where I got the sesame oil and yest it's just too much. I like to use it for cooking but I'm afraid I won't be able to use it anymore if I swish with it because I will not like it anymore. LOL!
I drempt last night that I checked my teeth in the morning and they were nice and white but my gums were red, grey and totally loose from my teeth. YIKES!
This is about the weirdest thing but I don't care if it will work.
According to the website, other oils do not work as well...? Do you have a health food store, or a Whole Foods, or something like that? I don't think that Sunflower Oil is to uncommon. I'm sure you can find it. It's so much better than the sesame, so I hear you girl.
Hang in there. I just went and checked my teeth this morning (up close) and now I feel there's no doubt about my gums.
I'll find it. I live out in the boonies but I can buy it in the city. Amazing, eh?! Whoda thunk that swishing oil around in your mouth would cure anything.
Well, my grandmother said mineral oil rinses will cure gum rot. Anyone try that miracle cure? Just curious. I got gum disease and dont know what to do.
Yes, there's a post from Alikat below, who's giving it a try also. We thought we'd get back to each other in a month and talk about it. Maybe mid-April. Our own little experimental group.
