I have meet ladies who have been beaten, battered, and even knocked unconscience by their husbands. I am a strong believer against such abuse. Anything that supports wife beatings shows an example of pure evil. The Quran which is read by Muslims, commands husbands to beat their disobedient wives.
I believe that wives are to be loved and cherished by their husbands, not to be treated like something without feelings. If you truly love someone, is beating her in the head showing it? Wives, would you want your husband beating on you in obedience of the quran?
Islam follows the teachings of the Quran, and this was just one example of the evils that the Quran calls for.

Your response did not refute the facts. The verse of the quran is supplied below. The key words in the verse below is ,"beat them". "Them", being the wives.

"...admonish them (wives), refuse to share their beds, BEAT THEM..."

and if you dont know the language which is rich in meaning, and you are taking something OUT of CONTEXT without knowledge what it is REFERRING to,from a TRANSLATION of the meanings,You cant possibly know what the quran says or means and if you dont want to know then why post and expect an answer only to not listen to the answer? round and round and round and round...
It can no longer be covered up by anyone who would attempt to support the quran. The writings are quite clear.
For a man to beat on his wife shows an example of pure cowardness on his part. For the quran to support such an action shows that it contains false teachings and is full of evil.
it also states in the bible many times that parents are supposed to beat their children for discipline when they do wrong..

for all i know the text might even be referring to wives that go and prostitue on the side or have affairs etc/

i believe personally that a husband soudl be gnetle yet firm in the headship of a balanced marriage.

the very word husband relates to a gardener / one who tends his garden with care and concern for it to blossom under his attentiveness to maintain it.

i think he needs to step up to the plate and be the *head* and say cut the crap.

You all are completely missing the point- Marriage in islam is just- you wouldnt know because maybe you dont know any muslim marriages- ive seen hundreds and they are basically healthy- and neither husband nor wife had been with anyone else. ( no they were not arranged marriages where the woman has no say, or the man has no say) The woman chooses her husband in islam. This in itself creates intimate trust and love in the couple. Marriage is not something taken lightly, its a deep commitment.
Some christain marriages are like this- but the main stream- high school scene, kids are having kids, drugs abuse, alcoloh abuse its overwhelming. Some christian groups, mormans and other pro homeschooling groups are great, Ive seen them they are devoted to each other. But please understand, the information you think you know all about Islam is coming from a biased point of view and one that hold hatred in the heart for islam relgion, and you also may have this hatred, Ive seen so many attacks and trust me- we arnt attacking your religion, stip attacking and twisting ours.

The point here has not been about Christians, high schoolers, or mormons. The point is that Islam instructs the husband to beat his wife. There is no excuse to support something so horrorific.
To try to cover-up such a cruel act on wives by attempting to make it look pretty is like having a dinner plate full of garbage surrounded by roses to make it look good. The dinner plate with roses surrounding the garbage is still garbage and noone likes to eat garbage.
The quran shows us through the verse in question, how it is used to embark fear in the wives. It can not be covered-up any longer that the quran is packed with false teachings.

i believe that as in any society there are abuses of people.. so also since every religion is comprised of humans/ then it stands to bear that such people would reside within each religious structure..(ie: those who justify murder or child abuse, poligamy etc)
no matter who you are, if you are of that nature , you will find a way to abuse words and laws to justify the intent.
but we should not forget that within each structure also resides those that are truly sincere and live in faith towards god and the Law of the Spirit that resides on our hearts written there by the breath of God.

I was raised in a Christian home, attended CCD ( catholic, sunday school)) sunday masses, bible studies etc. Not an authority, but know the general stance in the society at large and the tremendous pressure on the young in public schools that chrisitanity does not take hold of and protect society from.
Priests taking human nature and suppressing it, only to abuse alter boys with, the pope not addressing or having anything to say about society today, the barrage of drug abuse,homosexuality ( sodom and gomorrah?)It said in my Catholic bible when growing up that the homosexuals have no place in the kingdom of God, so they are not my words sorry of anyone got offended, Im not attacking any homosexuals personally) and that whole can of worms.( kids having kids out of wedlock, violence, evils of t.v. and nudity,loss of morality, murder )
Islam deals with all of it. No drugs, no alcohol, not even a drop because some of us can handle it, while others cannot, and it does hurt society -its been proven. Islam forbids premarital relations- it however promotes courting under the supervision of adults in the area, just like in the good old days( this is just an example): when a father saw a boy in the pioneer days of earlier christianity, he would whip him to death if he thought that boy did anything without the respected bonds of marriage! Its a responsibility that young boys today dont get accustomed to, its immoral and both the girl and boy ( more so the girl) loses when these virtuous laws are broke and tore down. These laws are here to protect mankind and ensure trust and love between spouses. Trust is something, the secure feeling a woman and man need in a marriage happens when one is God fearing.
Also when one is married and one of the partners does have extramarital affairs, its a grave offence. It is death, just like in the bible. IF no one is married then the two guilty get punished, but not death of course. Now this may sound harsh, but if the punishment is severe the crime will be detered. Now some may argue that the death penalty is here and yet people still murder etc, well the system has so many loop holes, not many make it to death row. One can rape many times and get a mere slap on the wrist. ( only to be let back into society so the sick on can prey adn attack again in some cases, one case was a few houses from mine where he broke into an 80 year old widows home and was found dragging her down the steps, a convicted rapist let out and the system put his rights before rest of the communities' )
The reason I put down the post is because it was not true. You have to go to the source if you want an unbiased view. The internet is one of the worst places to find true knowledge about islam, as antimuslim sites abound on the net. You can find them, but you have to dig, and if you dont know the true teachings you wont know the difference between the true and the false or the true with false added to it.
