My fiance is a 23 year old female that has had severe constipation for the passed 2-3 years. She has been going to several doctors that have don dozens of tests and they cannot find ou what is causing it. They just tell her that it is really severe constipation. However, it has gotten to the point where she needs assistance by her family members to help her go. When she does go she vomits and passes out. Not only that, but she also loses feeling in her legs for quite a while. This all occurs after she takes prescribed pills and laxatives. The doctors had told her that her constipation is so severe that she will never be able to have children because it would result in her death. I AM CRYING OUT FOR SOMEONE TO HELP US! Please if you feel that there might be a doctor out there that might know what to do please tell me. She goes throught this pain every 3-4 days. IF ANYONE HAS EVEN HEARD OF WHO IS THE BEST GASTROENTEROLOGIST IN THE WORLD LET ME KNOW. I'LL TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, AS LONG AS I CAN HEL[P HER. PLEASE HELP US!
Well, there are many things that has to be examined here, How is her diet? How much does she drink?
There are many reaosns for constipation, but don't forget, that THERE ARE MANY THINGS YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT! You came to the best place.
I suggest you surf this site and read as much as you can, there are many similar stories!
Stop the laxatives, they will just make her colon even more dependent on them.
Make sure she drinks plenty of water, (constipation can be a sign of dehydration!) fresh fruit and vegetables, check out "foods that heal" on this site! Stop refined foods, white bread, and junk food.
Get an enema bucket, and do enema instead of laxatives.
There are a lot of things that can help her, read, read, and learn!
your really great for trying to help her like this!
Tell us a bit about her... what is her diet like? does she drink milk? eat meat? does she eat veggies... how much water does she drink?
I would look into the enema thing... and start a gentle colon clease( someone might be able to recommend the best one here)
I have a strong feeling that she should start a parasite cleanse.. but she needs to be elliminating to be on the parasite cleanse.
Something getle she could start with is Triphala, available at a health food store. Also exercise and yoga... maybe a sauna might help..get some toxins out so she wont feel so bad (make sure she drinks plenty of water. Also at the health food store find some trace mineral drops and get her to add them to her water... this worked really well for me...
Some deep breathing and meditation techniques might be worth a try as well...
You have really experienced help by meditation and breathing. Thats pretty cool. Do yo do this before you have to go to the bathroom or on a daily basis. If this is the case I will go to yoga with her.
Thank you for your help,
TOM
Thank you very much for gettin g back. I already made her stop the laxatives, but I had a hard time getting her to stop because her specialist was telling her to stay on them? some sppecialist huh? ANyway, she does eat all fruit and take fiber as well. She excercised regularly. There is one problem with the ENEMA. I have been reading that laxatives and Enemas both dehydrate your body to extremes if used often. I also have read that both of these methods increase kidney damage. The problem with this is that my fiance had experienced kidney failure and barely made it through it 2 years ago. Therefore I am terrified of even doing the enema with her because she only has one funcioning kidney. What do you think I should do besides read other articles on this site? I do have good news though, the doctors are working with her on a daily basis for now. they are putting her through a 5 day test this week and I;m just prayin that they can help her.
Dear
I am not cured but I am going to tell you my experience (I have suffered constipation many years, and now I am better I hope I can imporve even more)
Diet: not all food is good. It is important to avoid sodas, junk food ( chips, hamburgers)
Eat healthy good vegetables and fresh chicken, fish and lean beef. I have found it is better do not mix many different types of food. Simple meal is better: fish with salad. Or a bowl of home made soup. I do not eat dairy products and my digestion is better since I am on this diet.
Drink a lot of water, herbal teas (not caffeine) and fresh home made juices.
Eat fiber: oat meal, cereal like Uncle Sam ( I am not promoting). Oranges and tangerines are good, but not for all, it depends on the blood type.
Exercise; ( I do not exercise much, but when I do I can feel the difference)
I have seen many doctors and the only way I could improve has been this holistic approach with diet.
The colon cleansing is good. Psyllium makes my B.M more regular. There are several different approaches.
Zule, first off I would love to thank you for your quick response.
I have written down everything that you all had suggested. If you or any one else has any other suggestions or perhaps a doctor recommendation please do not hesitate to let me know.
I just wanted to tell you, that enemas don't dehydrate you but REHYDRATE YOU. Maybe you should consider going to a colon hydrotherapist.
And I don't know about connection with kidneys, what I know is that kidney failure can arise when you don't drinke enogh. Your kidney needs lot of water to functon properly.
