I have tried looking for answers to my questions in previous posts, but it seems as if most of the people posting already have a good deal of knowledge in medications and prevention and it feels a bit like reading a foreign language. But congratulations to you all for empowering yourselves. I was hoping you could help get me started, starting with layman terms (there's a lot of treatments that sound like household cleaners out there).
I am now experiencing my 6th or 7th (vaginal) yeast infection in the last three months. I have gotten them since I was 16 (am now 26) but never like this, MAYBE once a year. THere are a couple of new factors I have undergone and any of them could be contributing to the problem. If you have the time and patience, I was wondering if there was anyone out there who might want to help me sort through this all. I'm really desperate, as I've seen lots of doctors who pretty much tell me there's no way of knowing what's causing it and who seem to say lots of different things re: natural remedies, sex-related, etc. So I know there are about a million possible remedies out there, but I was wondering where I might begin.
If you're with me so far, THANK YOU!Okay, here's my deal. And don't worry, I know no one's a dr. I just want a little advice.
I am 26, on birth control (and willing to give it up, but haven't yet, not sure if it's worth it), eat healthy but certainly not "yeast connection" healthy-- (i.e, natural cereals, veggies, but eat yeast, and a little bit of refined sugar, but do not eat flaxseed oil or kale). I started grad school (law school) about a month before this mess started and started dating someone about the same time-- up until recently, I saw a very clear connection between sex and the infections, but now it's not so clearly connected, also not sure if it's intercourse or oral sex--ANYWAY, I ALSO stopped eating all forms of meat about a month ago..so lots of changes about a month before the infections started.
I guess I'll start there. If you were FIRST experiencing the infections, where would you start? Obviously there's the OTC, but I'm now afraid of breeding super yeast and putting potent thing inside me. And how do I know if it's systemic? I would be ever so grateful for a response.
You must STOP all refined sugar. Birth Control Pills are the number #2 cause of yeast infections (Right behind antibiotics). Garlic - 6-10 cloves per day, raw, is a good start. You also can use garlic as a vaginal suppository. Leaving it in overnight. More on that is available http://healingtools.tripod.com/incurprog3.html
Caprylic Acid is a wonderful anti-fungal. As is pau d' arco. Replenishing good bacteria with a pro-biotic

A raw diet, perhaps with one piece of fruit allowed initially, is also beneficial. http://devoted.to/rawfood
Exercise, hot-cold showers, effectively drying after showering (even as far as using a hair dryer on warm).
