I have Cushings. My cortisol is high all the time. I am 70 pounds overweight and really need to deal with the weight issue. While my weight has remained the same in the last year, I am gaining about 1/2 inch in my midsection monthly.
I understand that bone / muscle wasting is part of this disease. Will weightlifting help me or hurt me? I am thinking in terms of lighter weights and a moderate routine; I don't have the energy to do a "normal" routine. I just feel if I can keep some amount of muscle tone, I might be able to lose a little weight; even 20 pounds would thrill me right now!!
I am also working on my diet and alkalinzing my body. I have tried the MC several times for 2-3 weeks at a time and have better energy and feel good on it. So now I am trying a green drink with molasses, lemon, and cayenne several times a day. Some days that is all I do. Other days I have vegs / fruit also. Occasionally I have one meal that isn't so healthy, but that is when my job requires and it never more than one meal a day that is like that.
Do you think this is a plan that is helpful? My goal is get well and lose this weight. I have read tons, I see a naturopath and am taking supplements, I muscle test everything, I go bed before 10p so I have a shot at sleeping, I bounce 15 minutes a day and utilize several lymph management techniques, and I walk 15 minutes a day.
I am in such a "catch 22". It costs money to do Yoga or Pilates. I am trying to save every penny I can to afford health insurance so I can get treatment for my Cushings. But with the weight, I can't qualify for health insurance, so I MUST lose weight to get treatment for the problem that is causing the weight in the first place.
I have to find a way to build some muscle mass. I can see the muscle wasting in the last six months.
