Mike, you can't just say things and then disappear. I came here to get information, that means both the pros and the cons. I don't want to do something that may be harmful. I have mentioned this fast to my husband and he is concerned that it may be harmful. It doesn't sound healthy to him. I need facts. Mike, you make us all think before we act.
As I asked before, do I need to replace helpful bacteria? Well if I do need to replace them, then perhaps it's not the best thing for my body. However If this is a normal consequesce of fasting and one that is easily put back into place then I need to know that too. Should I contact an MD and discuss this before I persue it?
I know Mike sounded harsh, but he was just forcing us to think about what we are doing to our bodies. He mentioned more than once that he has fasted (water and lemonade) so although he is somewhat cautious, he is not against this. I think he statements of checking with an MD if you are diabetic are right on. That is a life threatening illness.
I am a teacher and one of the most important aspects of teaching is to teach people to think. I believe that Mike served a purpose on this forum and I for one will miss him (if he has indeed gone).
couldn't agree with you more.

Yah Stephan Barret makes me think also. Miss him! Come on people all the information you need is right at you finger tips, you don't need mike to show you the way! Some of the things he said were right some wrong. Calling everybody little more than idiots is a good way to stir things up,but thats about it!
To convince a husband to allow his wife to do fasting is difficult. After twenty years, I have finally and just this year been allowed to do my favorite MC fast for more than 3 days. He said 10.
This was after getting the Arnold Erhet collection of fasting books which he recommended. Excellent source of reading. Arnold Ehret was the Master at Fasting!!
I think with gentle persuation you'll be doing the fasts as long as you want as they are for detoxing the body with a side effect of weight loss.
After I was on day 11, he said to me, "Your looking so good I think I'll join you the next time you fast." Now I can fast in peace for up to 14 day stretches with his big approval.
Mike likes to post and run - he already let us know that. But apparently he will be back in 90 days or so to spew his wisdom again. Just stick around.....
