I recently lost my beloved dog Katie to cancer. She was the light of my life. She was doing well with seemingly no signs of cancer, and suddenly died of something else and they don't know what. Although I knew it was eventually coming, as she was older, I thought we had more time since she acted normal. I am left with a broken heart and lots of guilt because I didn't recognize how soon she would go. Maybe there was something I could have done?
I know that people receive after-death communications from their loved ones, but how about pets? Has anyone ever seen their pet in a near death experience? Can anyone recommend any good books they have read?
I am desperate to know that she is ok and happy where she is, and that we will be reunited someday.
In two magazines, I read of accounts where people have seen their pets in Heaven.
Once , I saw a documentary where a family's dog had just died, and months later, they had gotten into a car accident on a foggy abandoned road. They're deceased dog was outside of the damaged car and led the husband to get someone to help them. Then the dog dissapeared after they got someone.
Next, my sister read of an account of a woman Journalist that wrote of an experience she will always treasure. She was going through a very depressed time, and while outside near a lake on vacation, she was given a vision of all of her past housepets that she had that had been put to sleep years ago-- all together wagging thier tales to greet her.
Then, I read of an elderly man who had an arthritic dog that he was concerened about for the coming cold Winter. This was in a Guideposts magazine a few years back.
It was Fall, and he was concerned for his old dog- as the dog had arthritis issues. He wasnt sure the dog was going to make it- and the dog was already failing.
He fell asleep on his chair with the dog sleeping at his feet- and had a very vivid dream of his dog running through a field of grass-- as though he was as limber as a pup! There was a shaft of light coming from the sky, and his dog ran up the shaft of light to an angel waiting on the top of the light. The man heard the words (not an exact quote) , "dont worry about your dog, he will be taken care of in Heaven"
That morning, he woke up to find his dog had died peacefully in his sleep.
In another Guideposts article-- I think actually it was Guidepost's, Angels on Earth magazine-- this account was written:
A woman and her husband and dog were traveling on vacation and came upon a Consignment shop. It was very hot out,and they wanted to stop to get some water for the dog.
The owner's wife brought out some water for the couple's dog- and they got to talking. She mentioned how she had a dog- and pointed to the grave over the hillside.
She mentioned how she knew her dog was in Heaven, because after he died, she had a very vivid dream of her dog sitting on Jesus's lap on His Throne, with Jesus scratching him behind his ears. He always liked being scratched behind his ears too.
The dogs tail was wagging happily in this 'dream".
I also had a dream once with Jesus in it-- and it was a very prophetic dream actually. There was a brown dog in the dream- hanging around near Jesus' feet, and the cute little thing seemed very happy.
When our dog , Jake, died, my mother-- who is very psychic, had a dream where he was trotting around outside of our house very happy. She was surprised to see him, and said, "Jake, your okay!" he looked over to her and you could tell he was overjoyed. He began climbing a staircase into the sky.
Also, I have to add that animals do have souls- Humans have souls and spirits, -- that extra part that unites us with our Creator and is our conscience. Our souls are influenced by our spirits.
Animals have a body and a soul-- and we humans were designed -- if we are in harmony with our spirits under the control of God, to be the animals' "spirit" for them.
OUr souls are made up of our emotions and personality- the blueprint of who we are. No two are alike. If you are a pet owner, you can definitly attest to how your pets proove that animals Do have emotions and their own individual personality. This is evidence that they also have a Soul as we humans do too.
A person's soul does not die after death. No souls die after physical death. This is the case with humans AND animals.
Also, you notice how in the Scriptures, part of Jesus's prayer was, "On Earth as in Heaven?
Earth (in it's unpolluted pristine state-- is a foretaste of Heaven) This includes plants, oceans, lakes, streams and Animals!

something made me come over to this forum yesterday- i usually hang out in the parasite forum, etc. but I had just finished reading a wonderful book called "My Descent into Death" about a man's back to life experience- which really touched me incredibally.
I saw your post, and really could relate with it-- so couldnt wait to respond back!!
I printed your post out for my mom, who is also grieving for her. I had called her and she was crying at home, as I was at work. So you really helped two people, and all the others who are going to read this that you won't know about.
wow, thank you so much for your listening and beautiful response back!
I usually find myself at the Parasites Forum or the Ask the Barefoot Herbalist forum but that day I felt compelled to come in here- and first thing I saw was your message.
I think God wanted to encourage you because I felt an inner insistance to leave the one forum I was visiting to visit in here the day you first posted.
Hope all is well with you guys. I do know God loves His little ones, including the littlest animal.
I lost my Dog 3 weeks ago he was my vry best friend companion and pal. Everywhere I went he went with me. He was a boxer and was gentle as a feather.I have been threw some rough times and he was my only crutch that always held things together for me.I have had alot of questions ever since he has passed.I have been asking will he be in heaven when I enter in the kingdom and at times I said I cannot even imagine him not at the gates waiting for me because the place I imagine he will be there with Jesus waiting to greet me.I have been missing him more then ever and thanks to your article some answers and I can see clearer now.I have been alone for several years after a divorce and working in the Sheriff department for 18 years. I had some rough times and I am remarried now and I believe he waited for me to have my first child my Daughter.I had a sense of something going to happen and on the exact day he passed that morning it was snowing and as soon as I woke I looked outside and said to myself If my Buddy had died today how would I ever burry him. I went along with my day as usual taking him with me in the back seat. We went for lunch and ran a few erands and brought my daughter to visit my parents where my Dog Cyma had entered the back yard in which was his favorite spot in the world. He began chasing the dog happily as ever next door threw the fence. I went inside to sit and converse with my parents where I seen him laying in the snow where he passed from a heart attack.A part of me died with him and I just cannot seem to get over this and having a hard time without him.I miss him.I am waiting for a sign to tell me he is ok. I am a firm believer and always have been sio I know a message will come. If anyonehas any insight to offer please respond I sincerely appreciate it.
I had a black and tan mix breed dog when i was a boy over forty years ago. I got him when i was 12 and he died when I was 29.
I loved him more than life, he was the best fiend I ever had much closer than a brother.
I was totally brokenhearted and cried for a month or more after he died. Strangely his death effected me more than the death of my beloved parents.
Like you said he became a part of me and I know God has kept him safe in heaven, waiting for my arrival with his spiritual tail waging wildly
Our pets are all in heaven , they are/were living souls while on earth just like us. And in some sense much better and more loving
Here is a poem I wrote about him BULLY MY BELOVED FRIEND
Oh! How I remember the awful day that my beloved dog Bully died
Oh! How the uncontrolled flow of tears as I wept that day that and cried
At! 12 years of age I got this beautiful fat black and tan puppy
A! Small boy I was then and so very very happy
At! 29 years of age now a grown married man Bully was still my most beloved first friend
I! Looked at him while at Vaal the power station and saw he was near his end
He! Looked at me with suffering eyes
Yes! This was indeed the day that Bully died
I'd be remiss if I didn't respond with a personal story to this posting. For me, it has stood the test of time and, even more, the NDE.
I was raised in a household that believed in an organized sorta religion. As a kid, my idea of God was based on things I saw around me that made me feel loved and in-joy. Few things fit this bill more then my dog...and I adored him...and he, me. Anyway, while attending Sunday School, at the ripe old age of 5, I had an ephiphany that changed me forever. The jest of this episode dealt with the minister ministering some words of wisdom that, as a child, just didn't add up. The guy's message of the day had to do with how special people were and that if they believed in what he was saying, they'd get to go to heaven...they'd get to live forever.
Now, I thought this was just a jim dandy deal. Afterall, everything in my life felt like it was workin' out pretty cool and my dog and I were having great adventures together everyday of the week. Sure, Sunday mornings took a hit, but we made up for it on Sunday afternoon and, as always, I was lookin' forward to gettin' home and gettin' on with it. Nonetheless, there was some somethin' I didn't like about the minister's musings because he hadn't automatically included my dog into the forever thing and I had a need to here what he had to say about something as important as THAT...so I asked him.
I said, "My dog gets to live forever too, right?" Immediately he responded, "No, Mike, only people get to live forever because only people can decide to accept Christ."
AND, I KNEW.....right THEN & THERE...that this guy didn't know what he was talkin' about, because I KNEW my dog loved me...and I KNEW LOVE LASTS FOREVER.
Thus, thanks to my dog, I was taught not to buy into a lotta the stuff that gets peddled from pedestel or podium. And, during the coursing of my NDE wherein all else gets stripped away 'cept the priorities that matter most..it was a lesson well learned.
Pastors mean well but they are only human after all, and dont get everything about God and Heaven right. A child has more discernment, I feel than many pastors' and can teach a priest a thing or two!
I also was told this by my pastor-- a very good sincere man. I got the feeling that when he was telling me this, that even he he was being convicted in his heart that his reply to me was not correct. He seemed confused after he told me animals dont go to Heaven.
I later read the words of Christ to His disciples, in His prayer, ".. Thy Kingdom come, on Earth as in Heaven.."
I learned that Earth is a copy of what Heaven is like (minus the man-made pollution and over-development, etc.)
Animals have souls and souls do not die when the body dies. Our spiritual leaders were probably confused with the part of how humans have an additional aspect of a spirit as well as a soul. Our spirit is what communicates with God, and if we choose to submit to God, God's spirit is joined with our spirits in a sort of union- which then influences our souls to want what God wants.
This is the condition of the angels and can be man's condition as well if we choose. It is all via free will.
Where the animals come in is-- our souls- under the control of our spirits- under the control (through love) of the Holy Spirit can then be free to be minister to the animals the way we were intended to.
No more enslaving animals or poaching. no more torturing baby calves so that they can become Veal in our grocer's market. Animals and the entire Animal and Plant Kingdom on Earth would flourish and remain in balance if we fullfilled our callings as 'gardners' and caretakers of this planet. This can only be done if we choose to allow our souls to be subjected under God out of Love (Not duty)
Our spirits then- UNder God-- will control our souls actions , and we will lose desire to be greedy, and bloodthirsty, etc.
This is how it will be like when God's Kingdom is on Earth as in Heaven
Nearly two weeks ago, my mother in law(Irene) went in to have surgery on an abdominal
aorta aneurysm with a 60% survival rate. Irene is a Roman Catholic who prays the rosary,
to saints and believes that there are many paths to heaven, yet claims that Jesus is her
Savior. To prepare her for eternity we watched two Christian movies(Perfect Strangers and
Escape from Hell) and my wife led her into the sinners prayer the night before. The following
account took three hospital visits to coax out of her because she kept hearing "dont tell
anyone" throughout her experience and was afraid to say anything. Of course, she does not know
if the surgeons were saying this or it was of a spiritual nature. This is what she had to say
non verbatim;
I remember looking down at myself as four surgeons worked on me as I felt this peace that I have
never experienced before. I recall seeing this white light swirling around me(tunnel?) and
then this blue/purple color that does not exist on this realm so that's the only way I know to
describe it. I then looked up and saw the greenest grass canvassing this hill and to the left
I saw animals, all types, shapes and sizes. To the right I seen people in a joyous mood. I then
was looking into the face of Jesus, who was bearded, with dark long hair and the most blue-ish green eyes that just sparkled. I then recalled seeing a hand that kept pushing me away. The next
thing I remember is waking up from surgery.
For the next week neither the doctors or nurses said anything to her about the close call. Finally, the assistant surgeon told her that both kidneys shut down and that she had actually
flat lined for a moment. Irene is still in the hospital and far from being out of the woods.
Two weeks ago she entered the hospital weighing 109 and now is at 82. Please keep her in your
prayers. I had many questions for Irene, however she does not feel comfortable talking about
it since she kept hearing "dont tell anyone." So I have to respect her wishes and stopped asking.
I do feel encouraged that she had seen all those animals and one day look forward to being reunited with all my beloved pets. May God bless all the members of Rapture Ready.
