"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the boisterous sea of liberty."
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it."
"War is an instrument entirely inefficient toward redressing wrong; and multiplies, instead of indemnifying losses."
"Information is the currency of democracy."
"The success and progress of any country can easily be judged by the size of its government. America's success and progress is declining rapidly. The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
This comes from Smedley D. Butler, a Major General of the United States Marine Corps in the... 1920's & 1930's?:
"War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.
"I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.
"I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket...
"In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism."
Two excellent posts, JD... Perhaps we're nuts and Pinkos, but
it's good to see "a few good people" not acting like sheep. I've
always wondered why educators, artists, actors, etc., are always
the subversives and traitors. And why, most of all, do these
neo-nazis keep sending their kids to the colleges that teach such
subversion. Hmmm...
While many people were being indoctrinated into the mind cult, some of us were daydreaming and missed vital programming. Thus, we're missing software vital for the purpose of submission.
John! There you go again giving people outlandish suggestions.
Use your whole brain. Geesh! What are you trying to start here? A "thinking revolution? Careful what ideas you plant. You wouldn't want to be responsible for causing mass synapsial overload due to firing up old rusty cicuitry, now would you?
Besides the Corpus Callosum would never take the sudden demand of such "balanced" brainflow. Most people are quite content using what little of their brain they find they need to, to function in our society. In fact from what I've seen, many don't use their brain at all. Brains do however, make good ornaments and can be a nice addition to any decor.
