My friend's Mother is severly ill with UC. To the point where she can't even walk/talk. She's been stuck in the hospital for weeks, totally knocked out on medication.
Somehow, I don't see how eating animal protein and rice of all things could possibly help her condition. He also mentioned that if things don't get better, they will have to remove her colon, which to me is completely insane.
I have tried to talk to the doctor because I also had digestive problems which was made worse by conventional medications (antibiotics). It wasn't until I switched to juice fasting with vegetables that I was able to get my health back on track.
I want to help my friend by taking his Mom out of the hospital and starting her off on vegetable juices and daily colonics, in addition to acupuncture.
I know these questions have probably been asked many times, but I am just wondering if you guys can recommend a specific diet protocol that she should follow to get back on track. This has completely destroyed my friend's family as they are all very depressed...she has 6 kids to take care of.
I have had UC for 10 years and have experimented with just about everything since my doctor told me he would remove my colon if things didn't get better. Screw him. There is a book out on the market called "the PH miracle". Get it and follow the diet in there. The diet is basically 80% vegetarian and I have been on it for about 6 weeks and I am doing fantastic. After six months time I will officially put this in the forum, but it sounds like this lady needs help immediately. Rice is a big no-no for people with UC so whatever doctor is telling her this should shut his trap. Doctors know nothing about UC and diet. They only know drugs and scalpels and things to stick up our asses. Do I sound bitter? Please get the book and good luck.
The cornerstone of the vitamin E enema procedure is a vegetable and grain diet.No fruit. It has been effective with most if not all cases of ulcerative colitis in 3 years of posting.Type vitamin E enema in the search window for further information.
On request, can send 3 attachments with the procedure information.sheldon33132@yahoo.com
Skeeter, are you the one who said to read the book about Self-Help Way To Cure Colitis etc? If so how does this book's recommendations differ from the PH diet? Can you have the herb stevia??
Thanks,
Steph
Yes. A while back I recommended the "self-help" book but a few months ago, I was turned on to the Ph Miracle book. There is no comparison!!! The Ph book is the best thing anyone with UC can read and live by.
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in Dec. of 2003. I had blood, diarhea, and mucus in my stool. Through a series of blood tests, screening for food allergies and some of the indicators of Celiac disease as well as an elimination diet. I have discovered an intolerance to wheat gluten, dairy & soy. The dairy & soy did show up on blood tests but create blood & mucus in my stool when I eat them. A food alergy test I had done by BIOTEK (Biotechnologies they test 96 different foods)indicated a strong allergy to eggs as well. As soon as I elimated ALL these foods from my diet- my symptoms started going away. My D.O also gave me a prescription for a Butyrate enema. (3 ounces at a time, you hold it in over night) It has helped the lining of my colon heal. Butyrate is the amino acid that is the food for the cells of the intestinal wall (totally natural). Statistically people with UC tend to test with low levels of Butyrate in their colon. I was taking 9, 400mg Asacol pills a day- I now take zero!! Other supplements that have assisted in the healing are: enzymatic therapy's "completegest" (digestive enzymes) "Intestinew" by renew life (has 3000 mg of glutamine per serving + other beneficial nutrients) also "Aloe Vera Stomach Gel", slippery elm and comfrey tea (use sparingly it can be toxic according to the FDA). My Nutritionist said comfrey heals over the ulcers in the colon. I also have been taking "Ultra-InflamX" protein drink by metagenics & enzymatica's "restore". Be sure to be tested for Celiac disease as it is often misdiagnosed and eliminate ALL wheat and dairy. Hope this helps many people.
