I fasted around 6 months ago and used this site for info but did not post any messages. I plan on beginning a fast in the next couple of days and my goal is to go 21 days. It will be my 6th MC fast over the last 2 1/2 years. All previous fasts I have only gone the min. 10 days.
The first 3 to 4 days are definately the most difficult. Mostly craving food and a subtle stomach pain - like when you feel hungry. Once you get past these first tough days the hunger pains do actually subside - even to the point where on day 10 I had absolutley no food cravings and felt fantastic - physically and mentally. I think the stomach pain during the first couple of days is partly caused by it shrinking. I have heard that your stomach acutally shrinks substantially throughout the fast.
If you have never done this and plan on doing so be prepared for some short term discomfort - I did not get any significant joint pain or headaches but I know this is common.
I use Senna tea for laxative morning and night - this stuff works but can cause alot of discomfort and sometimes extremely untimely reactions, but it works and it is essential to keep things moving.
I used the salt water flush twice but really have trouble drinking the quart of salt water without gagging uncontrollable - just the thought turns my stomach.
Today was day two and I had a horrible headache all day and threw up around lunchtime. By 3:30 I felt so bad I had to eat some soup, and then came right home after work and slept for several hours. Has anyone else had these symptoms? How do you do it? I would like to try again, but not if I'm going to feel this bad! Any suggestions???
I'm on Day 2 right now, but Day 1 was just like your Day 2. I felt I wasn't going to be able to do it, but I drank water after drinking the lemonade and it made a world of difference. I was afraid I would wake up in the same state I was in yesterday morning, but other than feeling a bit weak I was fine.
I know it's hard, but I think the body just has to get used to it and maybe you should try again during the weekend so you can relax while your body get accustomed to the strange blend of lemons, syrup and cayanne pepper.

I'm on day 3, I have not been feeling sick, but I'm freezing! Also, I've only had one BM (in the 3 days). I tried doing the salt water flush, but that made me vomit. So now I'm doing the herbal lax tea - doesn't seem to be working either.
I'm NOT feeling ANY of the benefits that everyone keeps talking about. I'm just starving and cold. This is not the positive experience that I was looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
