I'm just wondering if anyone here finds the 'negative votes' helpful!??
Wouldn't it be more valuable if people only voted positively if they thought a post was really good? Like: Was this post helpful to you? Yes! 1 person found this post helpful.
Instead of 0 of 1 people found this post helpful.
I mean - I've been feeling terrible for the past few weeks and when I get, for no good reason, a 0 of 2 people found this post helpful vote it really makes me miserable (and I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that feels this way!). I mean, what's the point of knowing that someone doesn't like you???? It just generates soooo much negative energy...
How does everyone else feel?
Leavin' myself wide open to get lots of negative feedback I know, but I gotta do it! These negative votes are driving me crazy! I also feel terribly bad when I see others getting negative votes for nooooo good reason - just some spiteful person sticking there big fat NO in there. It's just mean.
Why do we have to have this mean voting thing on Curezone??
I don't see anything positive...or even useful...with casting negative votes against any post. In fact, it seems that negative votes cast by mean-spirited folks or troll-types only serves to dilute the positive votes that a post might receive.
You are certainly not alone in feeling the way you do...the negative votes are real icky!!!
I do not utilize the voting anymore as it opens the door for one to pass judgement on someone without so much as a second thought that may be afforded in more formal circumstances.
I find it a step higher as Tracey noted to vote in the affirmative only for those who find it necessary.
On the whole, however I find voting unecessary as do I Debate Forums for that matter...too much invitation and temptation for negativity. Thus I rarely utilize either format.

YES! I've been wondering whether or not to bring this up. I just can't understand why some people vote as they do. Why vote negatively for someone who is merely asking an honest question, or introducing themselves on the 'Introduce Yourself' forum, what's that about? Its' supposed to show whether you found the post helpful or not, well obviously an introduction, or question isn't really helpful, but its NOT SUPPOSED to be. Curezone isn't just about supplying advice, its about seeking it too. Surely this facility should be used for when you genuinly rate the advice of another, or feel someones remark/advice is ill-informed, and for no other reason.
You're absolutely right. Negative
energy has no place at CureZone.
One of the reasons so many of us
frequent CureZone, is because of
the positive, upbeat energy that
emanates from the entire site.
The world says "No." CureZone says
"Yes." The world is a blend of
doom-and-gloom and galloping lunacy.
CureZone is a holy sanctuary; a
land in the cyber-clouds where anything is not only possible, but
probable.
So let's drop the "no" votes ASAP.
They perform no useful function.
I said it from the beginning and I do not mind chiming in with you again, Tracey. I agree with you and I see absolutely no good reason to have a negative vote, other than to spread bad feelings and to allow mean spiritedness to have an opportunity. If the question is, was this a good, informative, helpful, post for you? Then providing a way to respond "yes" should be sufficient.
I'm glad to see so many have responded against the negative feature, perhaps now it will be obvious that for the majority, it does not work.
It was brought up before. So I'll join again. May be some moderators can join us too.
The method is too simple too. What is good for a beginner might be old hand for a more experienced person.
It also depends which protocol you follow. There are so many different views, so not everyone is going to agree, though the post might be good or wrong.
Entirely agree on all counts, I do not see the need for the No vote. If we could get rid of the no I can see where the Yes might have a more favorable place (at the first introduction of voting I wasn't so sure about it you see...)
And even though some people will simply be using the Yes in the favoritism realm as well, hey, it's still nice for them to know they have someone who likes them! :) No one is always going to agree, not in small groups, and certainly not in such a large group as Curezone---but I think we can still all co-habitate the "cyber-clouds" as Owen so elequently put it in virtual harmony and postivity if just a little effort is put forth. :) God bless, Caitlin Lorraine
I agree! I protested from the beginning, then thought it might help to expose the forum trolls or slow them down, but it obviously has not done that, it seems it is just used as a personal punching bag by some!
I always wonder how it worked anyways when this post of mine where two out of one persons voted for it! lol! I personally wish Curezone would take care of the problem of having to relog in constantly!
I can truthfully say that I dont think I've used it against you, Grog, but I have both said no & yes to a few other posts, even though I dont like the system.
The reason I'd drop it is that some people could see the absence of several Yes votes as some sort of indication that no-one was interested in what they had to say.
You dont have to be very bright to realise there are quite a few people here who desperately lack self confidence and self esteem, so I'm not in favour of anything that might appear to further diminish them, in their own eyes.
I don't care for and rarely use the voting system at all. Yet, I do confess to casting negative votes on a couple of occasions when a poster was bashing liver flushing and using what seemed to be scare tactics. The Alert Webmaster button is much better for that kind of post though. I join others in hoping we can keep Curezone a positive place to find help and information in an open minded and supportive fashion.
I keep finding myself agreeing with you these days. :D :D
I was against voting because my own forum experiences had shown that scarcely anyone uses rating systems and very few actually like them, whether they use them or not. They do like smileys though ;)
Oh no! lol! But I must confess Millie I have used the power of the no vote against you a few times! However it is devisive and nonconsructive, methinks! I love the "edit your message" though and used it almost all the time, my spelling is quite attroeshush! lol!

some poster lose control with them! then the hypocrasy of a negative response and behind that some a canary eatin grin! no thanks and all the cutsie goofy baby doll stufff! Er! yuk! so childish!
Well Grog, this is some kind of record, I've agreed with you three out of three times! I used to belong to a family forum that uses smilies and even with that informal format the smilies got out of hand.
"I went to the mall today" (smile)"But the traffic was awful" (frown)"I couldn't find a parking place" (cry)"Finally I found a handicapped spot and used grandpa's old tag to stay there legally" (laugh)
I would not want to see those annoying little faces around here, sorry, but that's my opinion. We are mostly adults here and should be able to express ourselves with words, not pictures.
