Hi Everyone! I have learned so much by lurking around this forum, everyone is so helpful and knowledgable. I hope that someone can help me with the following issues. I really wanted to do around 20 days on this fast, so any advice is appreciated.
This has been my first fast ever. I am doing it primarily to lose weight. I have been sticking to it strictly, with about 8 glasses of lemonade per day, and I started doing B/P shakes on day four and salt water flushes day 5 and 6.
I feel fine in terms of energy, but here is a list of the issues I am having.
1) I feel so constipated and bloated and I am retaining water like a freakin' camel. I look and feel fatter than I did before I started fasting.
2) The first few days I noticed my face looking thinner and my skin looking clearer. But that has since gone away and I feel like my face looks fat again and my skin is lacking that glow I had at first. If I stop doign the salt water, will I stop retaining water and will my skin look better?
3) The first two times I did the salt water flush I got amazing results - I passed ropes and a ton of stuff. But this morning I did it and it didn't kick in at all! I did four B/P shakes yesterday and have not gone to the bathroom once. I really want to get this stuff out of me, but if the salt water isn't going to work, it really leaves you feeling quite waterlogged and bloated.
4) I feel as if I have heartburn and no matter how much water I drink the discomfort won't go away - I just developed it starting on Day 6. I drink a gallon of water outside of lemonade and B/P & salt flush water - could I need to drink even more? I did find the 1:1 ratio of Maple syrup and lemon to be too sweet so I use more lemon juice - could this be the cause?
5) It is near impossible for me to drink B/P shakes at work. If I only do the shakes on weekends and I end up doing a total of 6 days of B/P's and salt flushes, do you think it will be enough to pass most of the mucoid plaque out of my system?
My goal was to try to drop around 15 pounds in 25 days, which seems doable seeing as I am exercising and fasting. I'm getting so discouraged, I am thinking of getting off of this diet and going on my chicken and asparagus diet to lose the weight since I feel like that worked better - but I am sure I have so much junk in me to get out, I was really hoping this would work. If someone can offer advice or encouragement so that I can try to keep this going with less discomfort it would be greatly appreciated. At this rate, I'll get to 10 days and quit. Thanks.
I only did my fast for 10 days, so I can't be much help on the 20 day plan. I hated the salt water flush, so I cheated. I used the seanna tea at night.
PTREE is not a fan of the seanna tea, but says if you are going to do it, don't use it for more than two weeks. I would see if I felt better doing the seanna tea instead of the salt water flush.
Drink lots of water also.
It's simple! You're feeling crappy because you're not pooing! That means that all the toxins are staying inside you...you gotta get them out.
Some people get constipated with the b&p's. You should just cut back on them. Up your intake of WARM water (warm water stimulates peristalsis)...then do a SWF to get it all out of you. Remember to rehydrate with water if the ratio doesn't work and you absorb it.
As for the heartburn....take 1 tsp of baking soda in 1/3 cup of water. Stir up. And quickly drink back. Stay walking around and you will burp like crazy (it's fun! but do it in private!)...then your heartburn will be gone.
Thank you for your advice. I drank a ton of water today most of it hot, warm and room temperature - not like yesterday - I drank it cold. And I feel better, even though nothing has happened. I think I'll try to do a salt water flush tonight again. I'll stick with it and let you know how my progress goes. I guess I have to up the water if the salt water doesn't work - you are right, it is of course really dehydrating. I may be able to do 20 days - we shall see how I am feeling. Thanks guys!
You really think so? I have done it twice at night, both times I passed out rope and a lot of gunk. I actually prefer it since to do it in the morning and make sure I had results before I left for work, I would have to wake up at 5 in the morning. I think the key is to do it on a completely empty stomach. I did it last night at 10:00 at night. Got some ropes out. The last lemonade I drank was at 6:30pm, so I think that was plenty of time for my body to absorb the nutrients and pass through my stomach. After that I only had hot organic mint tea. But if you think that still might be detrimental to my health, please let me know! Although I feel a million times better today than I did yesterday.
Congrats on DAY 7. You have certainly made it through the worst.
after reading your symptoms it sounds like toxins are backing up. i would suggest doing a lax tea for a day or two to see if you can flush out.
are you drinking enough water? the P&B skakes at the flushes dehydrate you considerably. it may seem crazy but drinking more water may help. when your body is dehydrated it retains water. you need to drink enough water to regain normal retention levels. it is suggested that you do either the P&B shakes or the salt flush and not both at the same time. they counteract each other i read.
i hate the salt flushes. i found that salt ratio and water temperature made a huge difference on the results. i would play with them a bit to see if you can find a good mix that results in something.

Thanks - I think you were right. Yesterday I drank more water than usual all day and I drank it hot, warm or room temperature. I ended up expellin g a ton with a late night salt water flush. I feel a lot better.
