Many of us can be extremely different then "the average", so it is impossible to say that one single way of cleansing bowel is any better then the other.
That is why there is no such a thing as "The Best" bowel cleanse.
Every person with experience in cleansing bowel have his/her idea of what "The Best" bowel cleanse could be. Every person is different, every person may need some variation - something that is just specific for him/her. Just like with diet.
THERE IS NO ONE SINGLE DIET THAT WILL ORK FOR EVERYONE!
You will have to find what way of cleansing is the best for you! Some people prefer enema, other prefer herbal cleansers, other prefere just better diet, or a lot of probiotics, or colonics, or any combination of those, ... some people hate enemas, some poeple hate herbal remedies, other are allergic to any yogurt culture, some people can not tolerate psyllium, or bentonite, or are allergic to herbs ....
Not every cleanse is good for every person. Prices for herbs are different, and recepies are differnt, and strength is different. We are different. You can not make simple comparations, and you can not generalize!

I think your answer was a little rude. Surely you have an answer better than that. What about the Lemonade Cleanse? Should that not get you off to a good start?
I just read on a website that 3percent hydrogen peroxide, and saltwater is the best and cheap. mix 13-30ml of 3percent hydrogen peroxide into a solution of 1 tablespoon of salt mixed into 1 litre of water. Drink this down within 10 minutes in the morning. after one hour introduce friendly bacteria such as those found in live yogurt cultures. Eat 1 or 2 cups of yogurt. You may need to do this as little as 3 days or as many as several weeks. I just tried it and drank about 8 oz. before i almost vomited. I am really bad when it comes to swallowing things. (smile) but with only the little bit I can feel the bowels moving.
Don't drink Hydrogen Peroxide. It has been linked to stomach cancer. One of the original promoters of oral hydrogen peroxide himself died from stomach CA.
THIS IS BY FAR A SAFER WAY TRY DR. Richard Schulze 'S BOWEL CLEASER. I'M USING IT RIGHT NOW AND IT'S GREAT. HE HAS A STEP BY STEP APROACH AND MORE. I KNOW YOU'LL LOVE IT
Regarding cleanses, which one are you doing...
I can recommend Arise and Shine by Richard Anderson. I had done The Master Cleanse for 14 days with not much leaving my body but I felt good, then I did raw foods for about 5 days, then I started Arise and Shine and felt unbelievable...BUT...
no matter how good you feel while cleansing, whatever cleanse you do, it is SO VERY IMPORTANT to deal with underlying emotional issues, I cannot stress this enough.
Emotional issues need to be the addressed. And cleansing is the best time to do it because you are more open. So I say this again no matter how well you feel on your cleanse and you will feel emotionally and physically quite good, please investigate those issues you sense lie beneath the surface ...
I did a cleanse for 5 days: we fasted for 5 days and in the morning drank 2ltrs of salt water to induce a movement. Then we had a dose of a table spoon of Bentonite and psyllium husk at 9am and another at 1pm. We drank at least 5 ltrs of water a day.
It was miserable. I got extremely weak and depressed and my brain fog was overwhelming - I felt like I was underwater and I couldn't even put together a simple sentence. There was no way any emotional feelings could have been addressed since I couldn't feel or think about anything at all. There was no openness, no revelation, no release, no relief, nothing but sheer misery at a pre-verbal level. SOmeone on the cleanse told me that everyone was TRYING to stop thinking and 'how wonderful for you to have succeeded!'. Clearly, those people did not know what brain fog is or they wouldn't envy it.
Coming out of it, I am weaker. My brain fog is much worse and my bowel movements are still no more regular or full.
I'm already on a sugar-free-wheat -free-yeast-free diet and I always drink at least 4ltrs of water daily.
There isn't any 'mystical side' to colon cleansing as far as I can see. Or any real, life-changing health benefits either.
Just wanted to say, I am sorry the cleanse was so bad for you. It sounds like the cleanse that you did was not the right one for you. Full on fasting is very difficult for most people, and though I am undecided as to which cleanse I will take, I am positive that there are cleanses that are very efficient were you can still eat a bit and not go insane. A cleanse that works for you can be very opening and life changing (my gut tells me so!) But it sounds like you are very angry about the cleanse,or something else and maybe that is the emotion that has been revealed that you can take a look at further. Good luck and blessings, biancaimac
I'm so sorry to hear that you had such a horrible experience. That is really unfortunate. In my experience, it pays to start off slow and simple and then progress to more complex treatments if necessary. I'm not sure what your symptoms are that led you to attempt a cleanse, but I suggest the following. Immmediately upon waking, consume two glasses of pure water with the juice of at least half of a fresh lemon, then go about your morning routine. After about half an hour, you can have a bowl of oatmeal, without sugar or milk. If you like, you can add a bit of clarified butter or a small amount of honey or fruit preserves. But again, the simpler the better. If you can do without the honey or fruit, go for it. Again, wait at least an hour before eating anything else. Continue to increase your water intake, and then take one to two tablespoons of psyllium husk in the evening with at least 16 ounces of water. (I usually take the psyllium with 6-8 ounces of water and then follow with a glass or two of water) I personally like to take the psyllium in the morning also when I'm doing this cleanse, but I have no problems tolerating 2 tablespoons of psyllium twice a day. Many people do. Use your best judgement and start off with one Tbs. and progress gradually up to two if you wish. Of course you want to avoid processed and artificial foods, dairy products and watch your fat intake ans the types of fats your eating. I've used these tips over the past 8 years with lots of luck. I am much more regular. The first time I cleansed, I lost 20 pounds of garbage in one month!(from 155 to 135 pounds!) I would also suggest using an immune system booster like Kyolic liquid garlic. I use a lot of garlic in my diet anyhow, but the Kyolic is nice because you can fill geletin capsules and swallow them without worrying about odor and still get the cold pressed garlic oil directly into your system. Like I said, try to keep it basic and simple if you can, then add gradually if you need to. The basic concepts are hydrate with water, cleanse with fiber and flush the toxins out while supporting and strengthening your immune system and not putting any added stress on yourself. It is also normal to feel horrible during a cleanse because you have freed toxins into your system that need to be vigorously flushed out so they do not settle back in and continue to make you ill. I hope something here is helpful to you. Good Luck!
I love herbal remedies and do it yourself natural proactive health care, but sometimes what I see people do to themselves on this website does not seem natural to me. Fasting can be a spiritual/cleansing/healthy experience, but at the first sign that you feel like it sucks -- run away!! If you are doing things because you feel you have to do what is "right" that can be good, but it can also get you into trouble by denying yourself of some basic comforts. I do the Colon Cleanses & I'll take herbs & i'll fast and try new kinds of healthy foods, but fanatic is when you go hardcore by somebody's "book" without thinking about how it is actually affecting you. Your fasting, salt water, & dirt regime seems scary to me because it sounds like some basic nutrients were denied somewhere along the way. In other words -- EAT!!! Your grandmother was as wise as any ancient Indian remedy.
I don't think there's a magic silver bullet for anybody, and you definitely have to find what works for you, but make sure that you are not listening to others at the expense of yourself. I don't think we all have to subsist on brown rice & cod liver oil to achieve somebody else's idea of nirvana. Self-abnegation taken to a righteous extreme seems to really work for some people & for other people it becomes a case of martyrdom & for what really? If it makes you feel like crapp, fall back on your instincts -- I say -- to see what you need. But don't throw away the baby with the bathwater, either, because the Bentonite is doing a lot of good for a lot of people.
Butterfly, thank you for your advice on Richard Andersons bowel cleanse. I am glad that you felt great on it, and you are completely right when it comes to transforming and healing old emotions. Old emotions. I believe are the basis for bowel problems in the first place. I was wondering if any one had any advice for a cleanse for me. I have had candida for some years and I am pretty sure I have parasites. I am sick of every doctor telling me something different and putting me on supplements that I intuitively feel do not work. I was reading about Doctor Andersons bowel cleanse. yet it seems so involved and complicated ( I only read about it online, I do not have the book yet) Anyway if anyone has had similar issues, advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you. biancaimac
if your live in chicago area I can give you an address to polish very gifted lady who will diagnose you for free; she is more than gifted ;email me if interested ano4@gazeta.pl
The easiest parasite cleanse I have found is Hulda'Clarkes Zapper treatment. You can buy the zapper online. Then move on to any cleanse you wish.
By the way...Your body is a giant filter. Any cleanse is eating/drinking things that are healthier than what you previosly. For ex. Just giving up coffee and soda's may be a cleanse for someone to get off of caffeine. I certainly would not recommend Dr. Andersen's cleanse for someone who has not gotten over all addictions. To start , he recommends a raw diet which alone is a cleanse for many people. Yet his cleanse is fantastic if you are enthusiastic about it. The book is: Cleanse and Purify thyself" the product is Arise and Shine. Next check out this site
Through the years I've tried a number of different things. I have learned that you don't have to drop out of life to do a good cleanse, nor do you have to fast. Your whole life goes better when you have accomplished a really good cleanse so if you want to read into this some "emotional" release-fine.
Dr. Richard Schulze , in my humble opinion, has one of the best cleanse programs out there. One can do as little or as much as one needs. If you have never done a cleanse, I'd recommend you start only with the Intestinal Formula #1. One takes one capsule with dinner and a full glass of water. If movements after each meal don't happen then increase to two capsules the next night and so on until one is "moving" for every major meal. It may take quite a few capsules to get things going.
Once you are used to that system then you are ready for step #2. This can be immediately following the first cleanse or wait a few months and then start #1 again and then immediately follow with #2. The formula #2 is a black, chalky powder that one mixes and drinks down. It is gross but very effective for removing crud from the bowel.
When one does a "complete" cleanse I recommend that you go ahead with Dr. Schulze 's de-tox tea and extract, the Superfood, Echinecia plus and then the Kidney/bladder tea/extract. These teas and extracts will pull the toxins from your blood and liver and if you are doing the first two steps of the whole cleanse they will be removed from your body.
My first cleanse (before Dr. Schulze sold his products) was not something I'd wish on anybody. I brewed teas, drank them, and spent most of my time on the procelaine "throne". I did rid myself of very severe fibrocystic breast disease but have since found that Dr. Schulze's products and system accomplishes the same thing without dropping out of life.
I must admit I've never finished the process with a liver/gall bladder flush but I do intend to do so one of these days soon.
You can call 1-800-HERB-DOC to order the herbs. Dr. Schulze's Handbook has a link on the main web page for Curezone, on the left column. Read the whole thing!
I just ordered Dr. Schulze 's intestinal formula #1 and #2 and the superfood. I don't have the book, do I need it to do the program correctly? Also, am I supposed to fast or anything while doing his colon cleanse? My plan was just to take the superfood in the morning, the formula #1 for a week, and then add the formula #2 the second week. The formula #2 will be used up in less than a week, so is that all I need, or do I need to buy another can?
Thanks for any help and advise.
Here is an excellent source of books on colon cleansing:
http://www.sheilas.com/intestinalhelpers.html (half way down the page).
I recommend Dr. Robert Gray's 1970's classic "Colon Health Handbook: New Health Through Colon Rejuvenation". Psyllium husks and lots of *good* water will remove intestinal plaque. I know from first hand experience. You must keep at it every day for a month or more, then be amazed and freaked out when pounds of the rubbery stuff comes out. But keep at it, because your energy level will improve a LOT. I would recommend don't fast at the same time though, but do a parasite cleanse with gree walnut hull tincture, cloves and wormwood. After 6 weeks of this I was running up hills I had so much energy.
I am in my second week of the Robert Gray program. I bought everything from Holistic Horizons. Is this different than what you are talking about? So far my bowels are sluggish (which is normal for me) and I feel like they are sort of jammed up, although they do move. I am drinking far more water than I usually do so I know I am not dehydrated. Will the movements increase as I spend more time at each level? I am at level F.
You kept at it for a month or so: did you try to follow an alkaline diet? or did you eat what you want? In my second week, I felt my bowels slow down, also noticed stomach tenderness and gassiness. Did you?
I assume when the rubber comes out, you have left tender delicate bowel skin. Any problem with digestion?
Were there any bumps on your month long journey that made you want to stop? Thanks for your time!
I'm new to this site and was dissappointed to find that no one had answered the question: Can I use only psyllium to cleanse? Has anyone lost mucoid plaque using just psyllium?
Money is tight and I won't be able to afford one of the more expensive colon cleanse systems for a while. Any thoughts?
We've had good results with a cleanse from Pro Star International called Pro Action. In spite of regular consumption of fruits and veggies, frequent exercise, weight close to normal, and general good health, irregularity (monthly) was experienced.
A day or two after beginning the cleanse capsules, regular bowel movements return. Cost is less than $.50 a day. Web site listed below has all ingredients and information.
