A good cleansing program should always begin by removing the waste in your colon, the last portion of your food processing chain. If you attempt to clean your liver, blood, or lymph system without first addressing a waste filled bowel, the excreted toxins will only get recycled back into your body.
One of the most frequent bowel problems that people experience today is constipation. Constipation is generally attributed to a low fiber diet and lack of sufficient water, which cause our fecal matter to become condensed and compressed.
A constipated system is one in which the transition, or "time", of toxic wastes is slow and the consistency of the stool can cause strain (which over time may cause hemorrhoids, varicose veins, hiatal hernia, or other mechanically induced problems). The longer the "transit time", the longer the toxic waste matter sits in our bowel which allows proteins to putrefy, fats to rancify, and carbohydrates to ferment.
The longer your body is exposed to putrefying food in your intestines, the greater the risk of developing disease. Even with one bowel movement per day, you will still have at least three meals worth of waste matter putrefying in your colon at all times. On top of all this, your system can also become continuously self-polluting by the poisonous gases that are caused by foods you don't tolerate. These poisonous gases can enter your bloodstream, irritating your organs and joints.
Alternating between constipation and diarrhea, or diarrhea alone, are also indications of foul matter in your intestines. And finally, the much more serious problems of cancer and immune system dysfunctions begin with a toxic bowel.
The long held belief of some health professionals is that many people just have fewer bowel movements than others. This is true, but they also neglected to inform these individuals that those having fewer bowel movements are harboring a fertile breeding ground for serious diseases and possibly death. Infrequent or poor quality bowel movements over an extended period of time are very hazardous to your health.
Once we truly understand the "single greatest challenge our body faces is the effective removal of wastes and toxins ", we will never again undermine the importance of frequent, high quality, bowel movements.

For 15 years I had been trying to lose weight, without much success. (I hovered around 210 pounds.) Last September I went on a macrobiotic diet (after hearing Michio Kuchi speak at a conference and then reading his book, "The Cancer Prevention Diet"). The diet consists of mainly whole grains (60%) and vegetables, with some miso for digestion and a small amount of sea vegetables for minerals. I have now lost 50 pounds, and have gone down 5 sizes. The best thing about the macrobiotic diet was that I did not have to count calories like I have done on other diets, and I did not go around feeling hungry.

My husband had this problem before. I really think that you need to go to a natrual doctor to find out what all the reasons are. I highly recomend one who does a saliva and urine testing. Very accurate!
Anyway, my husbands problems pretty much went away when he started taking 17 fruits and vegetables in capsule form. Veggies and fruits are our medicine. Every serving prevents disease by 6-7%. With the help of this product, my husband no longer has this "running" problem, and it has prevented him from getting sick every month. He has also lost 30 pounds in 3 months. And I went down 3 dress sizes, and I have a poor thyroid!!! I have struggled with weight loss, and believe me I have tried everything! I will highly appreciate if you can give me more info on these Veggie capsules, that you and your husband are using. Where do you get them? The amount taken per day? With food or instead of food? The info - the better! I also have poor thyroid and though I am feeling much better on Nutr-Meds whole desiccated Glandular Concentrate (bovine)I am still strudling with weight. So I am hoping that your advise and those magic capsules will work for me too. Any way, I will try very hard!

Jill, are those pills that "Juice Plus" stuff that I've been hearing about? I seem to remember that they used the magic number 17 regarding their capsules. I know that my chiropractor has started taking them, as has his family, and he's so enamored of them that he's practically become a distributor.

I would recommend you do a 3 day fast with water only. Then continue the fast with water, fruits, and vegetables as long as possible until you cure your problem. I just did a 3 day fast and now i'm eating fruits and vegetables. My bowel feels so clean. Basically, the toxins are excreted and now i'm only allowing good vitamins to come in. Hope this helps you.
what has your body been going through? how many times a day are you having a bowel movement. are you experiencing cramping or any types of withdrawels? i am interested in doing this type of fast,but concerned with ill side effects. i tried a detox drink from water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper, but i dont know if this will work. any input would be appreciated.
I just finished a 10 day detox diet as you were describing and I must say it was wonderful. IBS runs in my family and I have recently been diagnosed with the problem. My Dr said I was on the verge of the full blown IBS and he prescribed me some meds and I have never been one to take meds anyways. So I ventured to the Master Cleanse Forum . I went 10 days and I have never felt so good in my life. I have regular BM now and I am full of energy! I cant wait to do it again in July! My mom who is 70 years old and a chronic IBS sufferer just finished her 10 days on the cleanse and she feels great too! I hope I have helped. Happy
