I CALLED MY UNCLE (WHO IS A HARVARD DOCTOR OF PHARMACOLOGY) AND I JUST HAPPENED TO MENTION THAT I AM DOING THE CLEANSE. HE SAID OK BUT HE SAID I SHOULD DO CHECK UPS WHILE DOING THIS, SOMETHING ABOUT ELECTOLITES and keytones ... HE TOLD ME TO TELL THE DOCTOR WHAT I WAS DOING AND THAT I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ALL MY BLOOD LEVELS WERE OK. HE SAID THE DOCTOR PROBABLY WOULDNT APPROVE BUT IF I WAS HEALTHY KEEP DOING WHAT IS WORKING FOR ME WHICH IS THE MC CLEANSE. I TOLD MY UNCLE MY BACK PAINS WENT AWAY MY CELULITUS SWELLING IS GONE AND MY ENERGY IS UP, HE WAS SUPRISED AND HE ENCOURAGED ME TO KEEP DOING THE MC I ALL CHECKED OUT WELL.
HE SAID THAT MY DOCTOR WAS PROBABLY GOING TO TRY TO TELL ME NOT TO KEEP DOING THE CLEANSE BUT I SHOULD TELL HIM I WILL CONSIDER HIS OPPINION BUT ALL I REALLY WANT IS TO KNOW IF I CHECK OUT OK AND IF I DO KEEP ON DOING WHAT I WAS DOING JUST GO FOR CHECK UPS.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF MY BLOOD LEVELS WILL BE OK? I'M ON DAY 9 WAS HOPING TO GO 20+
I think you will be fine. But remember, your uncle has his own perspective based on who he is (doctor of pharmacology). It does sound like he has a pretty open mind though.
I'm not sure that your blood levels would change this quickly - a better way to go would be to have taken them before the cleanse and then periodically during the cleanse, particularly if you are planning to go a long time. My concern is that your blood levels (whatever that means) won't be that great, but they weren't great before either, so it's not the cleanse doing it. Do you by any chance have any kind of baseline you could go on for this?
THANKS ROWIN IM THINKIG THE SAME WAY AS YOU.CANT BE WORSE THEN BEFORE AND ALL MY AILMENTS ARE GOING AWAY. I HAD BLOOD WORK DONE ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO. KIND OF ANXIOUS TO SEE WHAT KIND OF WEIGHT I LOST.I'M HOPING CLOSE TO 20LBS. ROWAN I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR POSTS THEY HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL ESPECIALLY BECAUSE YOU ARE OR WERE OVERWEIGHT YOU PROBABLY CAN RELATE TO ME MORE. WHEN I STOP THE CLEANSE I REALLY HOPE I DONT CRAVE JUNK FOOD. MY WIFE IS TRYING TO TELL ME TO GET OFF IN TIME FOR THANKSGIVING BUT I DONT THINK ITS BEEN LONG ENOUGH ITS ONLY DAY NINE NOW.
It sounds like you are doing great! I was encouraged to stop before thanksgiving as well. I regret it! If you feel good keep going! You can be thankful for your will to be healthy this Thanksgiving!
HE GAVE ME THE BIG THUMBS UP!!! BLOOD PRESURE DOWN CELULITUS SWELLING DOESNT EXIST. SAYS HE SEES NO REASON WHY I CAN'T GO 20+ DAYS ON THE CLEANSE. WAITING FOR BLOOD RESULTS BUT HE SEEMS TO THINK THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM.HE JUST WANTS ME TO HAVE A GAME PLAN FOR AFTER THE CLEANSE. HE GAVE ME A WEBSITE ON SOMETHING TO CONSIDER SOMETHING HE DID. ITS CALLED GREYSHEET.ORG I LOST 14 pounds AND I'M ON MY 9TH DAY. LETS ROCK AND ROLL AND FLUSH
That is great news John. And good luck on the rest of your MC. Your doctor sounds good - he is so right about having a plan of eating after you go off the MC.
Hi Rowan. I believe he is refering to blood glucose /insullin levels. Which are critical for people who suffer from hypoglcemia, insullin resistence and diabetis. Grog
He mentioned electrolytes and they can change in a matter of hours as well as blood sugar. And they would have been normal prior to the diet. This is a good chance for you to provide people on the board with chemistry. Ask for a copy of your labs and provide the levels to us, please. You are entitled to a copy, they are legally your records, so do not be put off by your doctor's hesitancy.
Great and thanks. I'm getting some labs too and I'll try to do the same. My will reflect what the MC has done to my diabetic readings over a 90 day period when I've done several Lemonade Diet s of varing lengths.
The sad fact is that 99% of Drs have no clue when it come to healing imo. I gave up on the 10 years ago. Unless i break a major bone i will continue to stay away. How many healthy looking drs do you know of anyway? Good luck
This is actually really interesting as it touches on a couple of conceptual (theological?) questions I have about the cleanse.
Firstly, I have done the Atkins thing for several months and it lowered my blood pressure and did all the right things for my cholesterol just like it promised.
But there is a basic precept: You are living off of fat - either ingested or metabolizing stored fat. Protien is for muscle repair etc but not generally metabolized for energy per se.
The body has a by-product of metabolizing fat - free Carbons (or something) that are called Ketones (Ketosites?) and these need to be tested for daily to ensure that you are staying hydrated enough to keep the ketone levels low and passed out, as they pass in both urine and the breath. keeping really hydrated lowers these rates.
Now, given that my 4 days on the cleanse (I had to fall off as I have been running workshops the last few days and can't keep running to that WC!) I was consuming about 3-4 Litres of water, between lemonaide, water and SWF per day - that is more hydrated than I think I have ever been. But I could not (nor could anyone I think) do anything but loose weight because the lemon is largely calorie free and the maple syrup is only 50 Cal / Tablespoon - my caloric intake was never greater than 500 - 600 calories per day. The average male - even conservatively - uses 2000 calories per day.
This 1500 shortfall has to come from somewhere - it's gotta be from fat reserves.
Which brings me back to Ketones. I've been testing and was very slightly registering on my Ketostrips. I expect that if I was less hydrated the levels would record higher.
What I don't get is the notion I keep seeing on the post regarding "if you want to loose more / less weight adjust the amount of maple syrup" because you would have to ingest a cup or more to make up the 1500 calorie deficit.
So - whats the take of the group on this? Does this make sense?
I personally think it doesn't make much of a difference how much syrup you put in the drink - unless you put in a cup or something. You are going to lose weight on this for the exact reasons you detail in your post - fewer calories. The marginal difference in calories of a few tablespoons of maple syrup is not going to substantially impact the amount of weight you lose on this. JUST MHO!
