Hello, currently I am day 9 of a juice fast and I am wondering if anyone here is doing one or has done one and knows how much juice is the right amount to drink? I lost 8 lbs. in the first 5 days, now I am going on day 4 without any change. I don't understand how I can be gaining weight oin 400 cals. per day?
i'd say keep on going, be patient, sometimes the body is getting to a kind of level where it seems to be stuck, but then the progresses start again, you're not loosing your time..far from it!
keep on it and bravo!!!
lots of love

I know I should be patient, it just seems like my body loves to keep the weight on. I am not cheating either. I have done Atkins till I'm blue in the face and now this. My body seems to permit 5 lbs. and then it stops. I just feel like I have no control over my body. I hate that. Plus, I am depriving myself constantly, but sometimes I just feel like why bother. I had blood taken today for thyroid test, maybe that will explain something.
Different juices are used by the body in different ways. Fruit juices contain lots of sugar carbs. Veggie juices contain many fewer carbs if they are from "above ground" veggies, but carrots and beets have lots of natural sugars.
In fasting for weight loss, I'd focus on juice of green veggies and above ground colored veggies. Radish, ginger and garlic are the exception, to be used in moderation for flavoring. Also lemons can be used since they don't have much sugar.
I've mostly been using a mixture of juice from cucumber, Celery , parsely, lemon, tomato, carrot and beet (a kind of homemade V8). I havn't been drinking any fruit juice as of late. I like the carrot and beet, because it makes the green juice more palateab
I've been doing fruit juice only... I like veggies, but have a hard time coming up with yummy recipes for veggie juice. Emkay, your V8 juice recipe sounds really good, I love V8 juice. I will have to try that. How much of each veggie do you use in the juice? I'm afraid if I keep doing just fruit juice I won't loose the weight that I want. If anyone has any good veggie juice recipes, pass them along my way please, I would greatly appreciated it.
I like this for meals, because I just get sick of the other stuff. What I do is juice enough tomato for 1cup. Then 1 lemon, 1 carrot, 1 Celery , 1/2-1 beet, 2 inches of cucumber and a splash of tobasco. Should be about 125-150 cals. and I get 2 cups out of my juicer. Warning: beet juice is very red and the drink looks like blood. Kind of funny though. I have added parsely (handful) and it tastes divine :)
I forgot to mention that I drink an organic vegetable broth too. It has 0 calories, so it's nice as a warmup and meal filler. Only thing is it has 0 cals. so it won't do much for your energy.
Good question, no one can really answer that for me either. What we need is a calorie chart of fresh juices so that we know how much we are consuming. I think anywhere from 3-6 cups of juice per day is about right (I may be wrong). I did some searching and got some rough numbers for calorie content (not completely accurate though) they didn't say if it was 100% juice though I am assuming. Here's my little list:
I bought it. I know homemade is better, but I just don't have time with 2 kids zipping around. I don't know where you all are from, because I am a canuck. The brand I bought is called Pacific organic vegetable broth. I bought it at the health food market. It's pretty tasty. You might want to add a little salt and pepper to make it better. However, it isn't bad on its own.
