water fasting is the cheapest - fasting for weight loss is tricky though so you should probably just do a quick one since you dont want your metabolism to slow too much for the long haul - healthy eating and exercise are your best bet after a short fast
There are several ways to do short fasts. A 2-3 day fast is one way. To test it out you might want to do a EOD fast (every other day), that way you eat one day and water fast the next.
One thing to be aware of...while fasting your body is releasing lots of toxins so you have up and down days. Never break a fast on a down day, recognize it as a detox day and if when you feel better you want to break the fast, then that's the time. Water fasting will force you to detox more rapidly than a juice or master cleanse so if I would recommend juice fasting or master cleansing before a water fast. To save on money you could always do 5 days of juice fasting and then 3 days of water fasting or something like that.
There are several other more experienced fasters here that will hopefully be able to help you out more. Good luck!
since you are doing this for weight loss there would be nothing wrong with V8 or juice fasting - weight loss is not as dramatic but you will be able to sustain the fast for a longer period of time and still have great results.

I am no expert but I think it will be hard to maintain a fast for a period a time to lose 100 lbs. My suggestion is to try EOD fasting - every other day fasting - eating healthy on the the day you are not fasting. This is more doable for a long term goal. I too am struggling with weight and using water fasting to lose my last 30 lbs. by the end of the year. I lost 130 through healthy eating and exercise this past year. Fasting is definetly not a long term solution weight loss instead you must follow a healthy lifestyle.
Jump start with a five day fast and then start EOD fasting. You could also do a short fast once a month to keep yourself focused on the process.
The problem with fasting for such a big weight loss is that you will gain back 5 to 7 lbs after each fast when you eat. This becomes very discouraging when you have a large amount to lose. You will be on a high losing 10 lbs in five days and then when you eat it quickly comes back on. I don't know maybe you will feel differently. If you are disciplined enough to fast you should have no problems eating raw or at least a majority of fruits and vegetables. If you do this I can pretty much guarantee the weight will fall off of you. Fasting is very emotional and overwhelming at times and I do not want you to be discouraged too easily.
I wish you the best of luck and I am pulling for you - if you want any info on the diet I followed called McDougall let me know or do a google search. I lost 65 lbs in three months on it - the weight loss slowed somewhat but I still was able to lose about 100 lbs in 8 months on it.

hello and welcome!
100 lds is some number but you can surely make it!!!
i am a very big fan of water fasting, and this is the most rapid way to loose weight.
but as rapid, it is tough sometimes....your body will be dotoxying very quickly and extremely sometimes, which will make you feel very tired or moody and then this will let place to a deep smile and inner joy...:-)
if you feel strong enough to start a long water fast, it would be good to do it under the supevision of a specialist, a naturopath for example..
And this if you could allow yourself some rest.
If not, and what maybe i'd say would fit you best, would be to start a juice diet(by the way, if you areater fasting, and having juices, this won't be a water fast anymore, but a juice one :-)))for, this, a much more unlimited period...
you could fast on juices for a long time....like 40/60days easy..well, i don't say this would be easy but meant with no problems for your health.
if you've been used to over eating, i'd not advice you at all to do some eod fasting, like few days on juices and few days on water as i'm preety sure after 2 days on water, if you go for juices, your body will want more and more and the risk to jump on all food you'll find is right here then..:-)
just my opinion...
but be sure there's a solution in fasting for you too ,this is certain!
i guess it depend on your life style, job and so, but if i were you, i'd start with some 2/3 weeks fasting, maybe 2 to start, and go for raw food after, are you vegetarian?
here is my just personnal opinion..
i wish you looots of success, and patience, wisdom and lots of love and light

I totally agree with Marion and would just like to add that if you do decide on consuming JUICE, ensure that it is either freshly made (invest in a juicer) or purchase ORGANIC juice. So many other store-bought juices, even the ones that say 100% natural, are filled with processed sugars, etc., and therefore will slow your progress and achievement of overall health.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their helpful insights. I started out this morning with a juice/water fast. I dont own a juicer so I will do the best I can with 100% juices.
oh, i'm happy to read this, i wouldn't say i was worried but..it's very good to hear, you're as strong as i know yoy are!!! :-)
yes, day 5 just here...great!!!
and for you as well, we're doing it just right, couldn't do it better, we're winners this time, we are succeeding over our bad eating habits, we will from now, we can make it..and don(t forget, soon we'll be swimming :-)))))
lots of love
