Do u still beleive in probiotics. I was a die-hard beleiver in those things and used to mega dose on some expensive pro-biotics.
And they did NOTHING to me.
I beleive a clean, unconstipated body can generate its own probiotics and they will be far superior than eating various strains of pro-biotics. Andreas Moritz had some good comments on pro-biotics. he does not beleive in taking probiotics and I by my personal experience, fully support his views.
Ive not heard of anyone NOT taking probiotics really. My husband drinks kombucha tea (probiotic drink basically) and his rosacea is totally cleared up. I drink kombucha too, but with winter coming, I need pills. Cold drinks are tough for me in the winter. So I do think probiotics are a good supplement overall.
Yes ideally nobody would need to take probiotics and would we would all have an inner ecosystem that is friendly and hospitible to the right kinds of microorganisms. But many of us here are in various stages of healing and may need the jump start the colonization process. I see nothing wrong with occasional supplementation of a high quality probiotic whether trying to recover from food poisoning or antibiotic use or whatever your case may be. I mean, your body doesn't make bacteria from scratch! Eating cultured foods/beverages is a better choice regarding enzymes and nutrients, but I think probiotics can have their place.
Not that I cannot afford pro-biotics, but I feel its a biggest "hype" going on these days. Trust me, I spent money on some very good ones. Also got some froma GI specialist which had 450 billion strains of bacteria.
One thing which I like about Andreas is that, he says, we should be taking NO supplements.( Not even some health food supplements. Because its also a big business afterall, just like allopathic meds).
i completely agree with the environment being everything. in fact, i think introducing strains that are no longer present due to antibiotics, et al, is NOT necessary because i believe there is only one bacteria and it morphs according to the environment. that, or all types are omnipresent and it is the flourishing of the different types that we are able to detect their effects.
either way, environment is all. i love what andreas said about eating corpses. this is so very true. it is like the whole study of cancer - the cancer is not the disease, it is there to eat the dying flesh. something else is doing the killing, and that is the accumulated waste and toxins causing this death through constipation of the flow of blood, lymph and nerve channels.
even so, i dont think it hurts to eat a little dirt now and then! what the heck. it is not only what we are made of, its free. i am also convinced of cayces admonition to eat food from where you live. not only do the environments they grow in match the environment you live in, but the soil goes into that food. there is a lot to be said for living where you were born and ingesting the same soil organisms you did as a kid. the poorest children, health-wise, are the ones growing up in the most sterile environments and eating the most processed foods.
...I know some are "transient" and some colonize, but I'm not sure where they camp out. You've piqued my interest! I hope someone else can offer some answers...
