I have had mirena for four years and am really suffering with the cystic acne. I never had acne before the iud. You should ask your dr about tetracycline. I have been using it for a while and it really helps.
Hi,
It is my first time posting here. I've had a mirena IUD for about 3 years. After years of heavy, painful periods and wild mood swings prior to having it inserted, it has been nice to have a more calm life (and no tampons to buy!). HOWEVER, I've noticed a steady depression creeping into my life, and I have completely lost the desire to have sex. Completely. Also, my hair has thinned and I've gained weight. In four days time I'll have the bugger removed.
It has been supportive to me to read all of these postings. I'll let you know if my symptoms improve in a week or so.
I have a question for you I had my IUD removed and feel so much better too I wish i would have never gotten it in the first place I blead all the time. After having it out two days last i started bleeding again is what others have had happen and how long did any else bleed after removal???? My IUD wasnt even in my uterus I was in so much pain like if i was in labor. It had started to move it was inthe beginning of my cevix. I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND EVER GETTING AN IUD TO ANY ONE !!!!!!
Hi, I had a Mirena IUD put in Nov 2005 I did not like the side effects I was having so I had it removed a couple of days ago..I know have this really really heavy bleeding and alot of huge clots? was this the case with you? did you bleed for a long time after having it removed? Thanks
After having it removed (after the 6th day of having it!), I started to bleed heavily the next day -it was just a rather hard/heavy period for 3 days which included a lot of clots. The relief of having it removed was incredible! I certainly would NEVER recommend Mirena to anyone! My dr. "sold" me on Mirena. The removal was a piece of cake!
I had mine removed 4 days ago and already feel better. It was only in a week. I too was fooled into believing this was the right birth control for me. I am 49 years old never been on the pill and know my body well enough to know it was poison. My Dr acted very unprofessional telling me it was all in my head and that I should stop beleiving all I read on the internet. Needless to say he is no longer my Dr. Please listen what your body is saying I had to almost make a scene at the Dr's office to have him remove it. What is going on with the dr's? I am bleeding right now...not heavy but I can tell my bloating is going away and I don't have the constant pressure in my lower abdomen. I gained 8 lbs in the week it was in. My stomach looked like I was pregnant and I stayed full of nausa. I told the Dr. if this was the only birth control there was I would stop having sex....and that was the truth. I am now going to have my tubes tied...what I originally asked him for but for whatever reason he wanted to insert the Mierna. Lets stick together and get this thing off the market!
Amen! I'm am frantically trying to get my doctor to remove mine. I've been miserable for the last 8 mos and htat is NOT ME! I hate this thing. I feel fat, miserable, tired... just awful.
Is this normal. I am dizzy and have been bleeding heavy with large clots since I had it removed last Wed afternoon and it is Mon afternoon. I am waiting toi hear from my Dr.
well i just wanted everyone to know that i had the same side effects everyone else mentions here. i had the (iud) for almost 3 years and felt like crap all the time im only 24 and i think i lost 3 years of my life i felt worse than my mom she had more energy than me. i felt so tired all the time didnt feel like going out and do stuff i didnt even fix myself anymore that was the worse for me. another thing was depression i got to the point of taking sleeping pills. felt so bad for my doughter she is 3 and you all know how kids are at that age they just want to play go out have fun but i never felt like it. i made her sleep with me and then felt so bad i was going crazy. i would get mad for any little thing just didnt had the patience. another problem was the blowdness that was horrible i couldnt sit for a long time because i would just go up it was terrible i cant forget the acne all over my arms never had that before dry skin, loss of hair, weight gain, naussea, my list could just go on and on.i really dont recommend anybody the (iud) this was the first method i ever tried and not planning to put anything else in my body NOTHING im just going with the condoms.
anyways i just had mine removed 3 days ago i was really easy didnt hurt at all i feel much much better i feel like me again i am really happy and have lots of plans for me number one lose weight and recover myself. one thing i want to mention is that all the other messages i've read of other women who had it removed is that they experience really heavy periods for days well i havent yet that is so good i was really scared of that but dont know if thats coming soon but ill post if i have any changes.
so for all women who experience all of this side effects dont think it too long have that thing out of your body it really messes you up its not worth it.
i never tought all of my problems was because of the (iud)intil i found this website of all other women experiences we cant all be crazy and it cant just be a coinsidence that we all have or had the (iud)and we all have the same PROBLEMS
SO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
please dont wait to take it out i did and it only got worse
THANKS
its now 5 days that i had my iud removed and no bleeding yet thank god im so scared of the heavy bleeding well i feel much better all ready i have more energy im happier everything is going back how it used to be before the iud
ok its now been a month and one week that i had my iud taken out but im kind off confused if anybody could please help me well a week later that i got my iud taken out i got my period it last like seven days it was like a normal period well now its been a little more than a month that i dont get it and dont know what to think i took a pregnancy test like 4 days ago but it came out negative and i still dont get a period i may be pregnant but then again i think that maybe my body needs time to get back to normal i mean i lasted like two years in a half without gething a period but anyways if anybody else experience the same thing please let me know. im just going to wait and if i still dont get my period im going to take another pregnancy test.
thanks
I have had the same problem. I had Mirena put in in March, and no period the whole time I had it in until (it gave me High blood pressure, moodyness, depression and anxiety). A week after it was taken out I had my period for 3 days. Now it's been 3 months and no period. I'm on the pill... and Nothing. Pregnancy tests come back negative....any thoughts???
Hello Samantha! Just wanted to know if ur completely healed from the evil Mirena? Are u still experiencing symptoms? Hopefully ur still on here. Let me know plz.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Nothing anyone can say or do can help with that either. I had Mirena put in when my last child was about 9 months old. I have had severe mood swings, horrible PMS, and a huge weight gain. I had lost almost 50 lbs after the birth of my third child, and now have gained back 25. My doctor said it isn't the Mirena, but if I gain a few more pounds he can do gastric bypass, so now I too am looking for a new practioner. It is ridiculous for medical professionals to dismiss us because it is not the normal reaction. My words to them are that Penicilin is a miracle drug for some and a killer to others. No one knows how Mirena will work for them or what the possible side effects may be. Mirena probably works fabulously for many women or it would be off the shelf. Unfortunately women like us are the minority who have ill effects of it. Another thing I think is that the drug reps who sell these products are paid to sell. That means they will tell the doctors and CNM's that there are no ill effects. I am going to write a letter to the head of the clinic I attend, as well as the manufacturer of Mirena to let them know that many women are having terrible syptoms. I am having my Mirena removed on March 19th and I cannot wait. I hope you begin your long path towards healing. I truly am sorry for you. I have only had a couple of miscarriages. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of a stillborn baby. Take care, Shi
I had my Mirena removed this afternoon and I was surprised that I noticed a difference already. I had had cramping and a sort of achey 'full' feeling since getting Mirena inserted but over the course of nearly six months I became used to it. I expected to have alot of cramping after having it removed but amazingly my whole lower pelvic area felt so much BETTER! That constant achey full feeling went away immediately!! I had gotten to the point that the bad feelings became normal so that I didn't really pay attention to them anymore...but I certainly noticed when they suddenly went AWAY. I have not had any cramping whatsoever in the last 8.5 hours since the removal and have had no need for so much as one Tylenol. I am SO happy to be RID of that awful device!!!! Now let's hope some of this weight starts to drop off!!
I have had the Mirena since September 05 and want to get it taken out. It hurt like hell putting it in and I am so scared to get it taken out! Is it just as painful on the way out???
My insertion was painful as all crap but the removal was surprisingly easy. Just like having a tampon removed. The dr. said ok and I couldn't believe he already had the thing out. I am sooooo glad I had that stupid thing removed!
