Now i got a bit scared with your talking of raw steaks and bones soups, livers and raw dairies. I wouldn't (and don't) mind some dairies, even if I don't feel they do too good to me I like them, but meat and fish is a nono, I just can't stand them and the idea of them. Would I be lacking of something important?
I may not be able to answer your question directly, but I remember from my reading that one of the persons who came to Edgar Cayce in his day, what a raw-vegan. She was emaciated, and very sick.
The main part of her "prescription" was to take iodine.
How much? that I don't know, but it is different for everyone
i guess i am a bit unclear on your question. but if you are asking if Lugol's solution is fit for consumption by vegans, i would say certainly yes. its just pure potassium Iodide and iodine, neither of which come from animal sources.
nono, I'm not that picky, the fact is that I read of eating livers and alike and I wonder, am I missing something? am I the only vegan in a forum of carnivores? (roarrr...):)
I suppose you are just choosing food with maximum intake of Iodine and that's it, but better to know if I need to supplement or eat specific foods that can cover a bit the gap. I mean, let's face it, I don't eat that many proteins!
for over 20 years, I feel like I am missing something too.
I eat way too much sugar, but am relieved that I don't eat animal's or their by-products. Hoping this Iodine corrects something.
there are a number of people in this forum who follow the principals of weston price, who demonstrated that a diet high in the fat soluble vitamin such as A and D could provide for excellent teeth, bone and connective tissue health. the best sources of those vitamins are meat, and specifically organ meats. price believed that A and D were the "activator" vitamins. he believed they were the vitamins that allowed you to fully utilize the minerals you consumed. bone broths is another item price studied and found to be of great benefit.
maybe you remember this, I must have read somewhere that some specific aminoacids were necessary to take while on iodine. It isn't unlikely, given that Iodine is someway related to neurotransmittors. And that is my worry because my intake of proteins is low. I am also concerned on the food that can best support the detoxification, of which i know nothing.
Yes, heard about amino acids and I never worried about it.
I have read enough through the years from all diets and I think that greens are the perfect protiens. Just hard to do when I am addicted to cooked food.
I do take kelp, and paint the iodine.
Going to start the Lugol's internally this week. It makes sense to me to take it with the good salt, like taking minerals.
Good luck :)
I did it for 6 months. I followed the David Wolfe crowd around here in CA.
When I look back on it (2001) I can't believe I did it. I think it is the healthist way to go but not practical. I felt good but still over ate, and became a little obsessive. I would like to get to at least a 75% raw.
How about you?
no way! I am one of those oldfashioned that still think the energy of fire has some value (taoists, specifically)
Besides, I saw some months ago a video of Cousins and well, with all respect he looked like a dried mummy. So what for?
and last, as you noted yourself raws are totally fixated about food and also skilfull in the kitchen, while I am a very elementary cook, with my skills I would give in just in a week or two.
...and with this lack of Iodine how can you renouce to a warm miso soup in the evening, I say?
Cousins dosn't look so good, but didn't he fess up to not be all raw and a foodie too? I haven't kept up.
I love and eat miso soup everyday, I even put the Kelp in it. Would like to think you are right about the fire.
I just love FOOD in any form and wonder if a mineral imbalance or a chemical imbalance (chemical exposure) is the reason.
Been loosing the same 20 pounds over and over for 20 years.
I'm tired of it.
Whoops gotta go get some vegan choc chic cookies:)
there's a lot of bugs out there in the world. although some may try to eat only vegetables, it is inevitable that some non-plant food matter will be eaten. i realize my argument is weak and am just trying to poke a little fun. i do recall reading about the number of cockroaches which allegedly end up in ground coffee, same for all kinds of other gross stuff not worth repeating. i'll quit now.
