I have hypothyroid. I have used Iodoral with little success in obtaining any real benefit. It is enteric coated. Not much (I was taking 50 mgs.) was reaching where it needed to go. Iodine loading test will not always give you a true reading. It measures what is in your urine, not how much is in your bowel. Anyway - both Lugol's and Iodoral contain iodine (needed by your WHOLE body) and potassium Iodide (needed by your THYROID). So, you are basically supplying your body (even if you are taking the maximum suggested dose of Iodoral at 50 mgs (4 tablets) about 25 mg of Potassium Iodide for your thyroid. If you are deficient – at that dose it could take up to 6 months to notice any improvement. You know when your thyroid is working when your body temperature is normal. Rather than walking around with a thermometer all day, I gauge how well I am doing by whether or not my hands and feet are warm. There is a product that you can get called TRI-QUENCH from Scientific Botanicals that contains only Potassium Iodide. 1 drop equals 19 mg. Also, what they don’t tell you is that Iodine and Potassium Iodide work much better when taken with LIQUID magnesium or LIQUID minerals and some sort of citric acid, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, lemon water…. If you are going to use Lugol’s start out with a few drops and work up to half a dropper-full. Do this at night before bedtime to obtain the full benefit. It is very soothing to your adrenals and helps them heal as well. During the day, if my hands and feet are cold, I put 3 drops of SSKI in some distilled water that has also been dosed with liquid minerals. You will break out in bumps for the first month or so – at this dose your body will begin to expel bromine, fluoride, chlorine, and lots of other icky heavy metals (in addition to killing all sorts of parasites). Your poops will smell like you had sushi for dinner. If the breakouts are really bothersome decrease your dose and add something that has a lot of chlorophyll in it (chlorella, blue green algae, parsley juice or cilantro juice). If you Google any of the terms I have put in here you’ll see the research to substantiate what I’ve stated here. Another thing that helps is getting something call a “chi machine” (buy a used one, folks, don’t spend a lot of money on getting a new one) since it’s very relaxing and increases your lymphatic drainage and overall blood circulation. I have also had great success using a brood light (get it at the hardware store) and an infrared heat lamp (also at the hardware store) to create my own far infra red (FIR) heat lamp. Applied to the back of the shoulders, the front of the shoulders and finally the throat areas, feels really soothing, gets the circulation going and helps to drain the swollen tissues commonly found in thyroid patients. I have been doing this for about six weeks and I can finally see my jaw outline. Wooo Hooo!
