Immediately after listening to the program, I ordered Lugol's. I have had FBD for a long time. I am the only woman I know that has been looking forward to menopause as that is supposedly when my FBD would abate. I had no idea, until then, that FBD can absolutely be a precursor to Breast Cancer , That 90% of American women now have FBD(by the way, that figure was 3% in the 1920's). And that now 1 in 7 women gets breast cancer.
Dr. David Derry, in "Breast Cancer and Iodine" (pub. 2001), puts this into perspective:
"Because the incidence of breast cancer is not close to incidence of fibrocystic breast disease much fibrocystic disease comes to nothing. But this is not cause for compacency. The fibrocystic state is a precursor state, which places the affected breasts at risk for cancer by Dr. Clarke's definition. As well, what is BENIGN about fibrocystic disease, when the odds of getting breast cancer are now down to 1 in 9(2001 stats)? No matter who's breasts the physician examines chances are becoming higher that a cancer will grow there in the future. Reassurance, under these circumstances, that fibrocystic disease is benign has no meaning to women if the overall incidence remains so high."
So, I was scared. My sister-in-law died of breast cancer two years ago... :(
"Fibrocystic disease of the breast consists of small or large, sometimes painful lumps in women’s breasts. It varies in the way it shows-not only in different women, but also because it changes from month to month in the same women. Medical doctors generally believe that fibrocystic disease results from the excess number of cells that grow in the breast during the menstrual cycle from the hormonal stimulation.
Since the number of cells increases in the breast during the cycle, some of the cells have to be removed to restore the normal state each month. Iodine is the trigger mechanism that causes excess cells to disappear to complete this normal process of cell death. Without enough iodine, the extra cells that develop during the menstrual cycle due to the hormonal stimulation do not resolve back to the normal breast architecture. These leftover cells build up over repeated cycles and cause the lumps, soreness, and larger lesions of fibrocystic disease.
However, while about 90 percent of North American women have fibrocystic disease, about 40 percent of these women experience no symptoms. Their breasts may be normal to examination, but the disease may be only microscopically detectable with a biopsy.
Enough iodine enables the excess cells to be cleared out, and the breast can return to its normal resting state as the fibrocystic disease slowly disappears from the breast."
I began iodine supplementation on February 8th. It's been rather confusing trying to figure out dosing as there are conflicting studies/protocols. In the Ghent-Eskin and other earlier studies, FBD was reportedly cured at low doses:
The dosing device that they used this the study had 13.65 total mg. of iodine. per 70 ml.(aqueous solution, I believe) The unit was designed to dispense 50 doses of 20 ml, totalling 1000 ml. The patients recieved one dose per day, could be doubled if no effects observed. Sooo, according to MY math(highly questionable), each dose provided .273 mg. of iodine.
The dosage was 0.08 mg/kg of body weight. 50 kg = 110 lbs. which would be only four milligrams a day.
So, two studies, two vastly different amounts used for dosing. We also have the daily requirement for iodine(NOT the U.S. RDA, which is set criminally low), which, in all of my reading, seems to be from 12-15 mg. for women(8-12 mg. for men).
So...I decided that I wanted it all, my FBD cured AND a halogen flush...I was nervous, though. There IS a lot of bad press re:iodine out there on the web. So I decided to start out at 12.5 mg. and up my dose slowly. I've added another drop every couple of weeks or so and I am now at 50 mg(and feeling fine:). I also wanted to ease into the detox, I need my energy and cannot be laid out with heavy detox.
And that has worked, I think:) Most of my "detox" happened the first week. Sleeplessness, frontal headache, loose bowels, bloating. But along with that came a delicious sense of heightened awareness, so it was all good, IMO. I'm wondering about the early "detox" people experience. Can we really be detoxing bromides at that point? I don't think so. I'm no scientist but I think that the initial reintroduction of this necessary element "shocks" the system and it takes a while to go back into balance. Other detox symptoms I've experienced include sinus/lung drainage(about 3 weeks into it), knee pain for a couple of days, the occasional ugly zit, and strange(and COOL) dreams. I've noticed that really vivid, disgusting dreams preceed a manifestation of detox. My urine started getting cloudy, with occasional colors, early on in supplementation. I started getting consistently colorful pee at 31.25 mg. One day I had caramel, chartreuse & PINK(ha! that was the beet juice:)pee. THAT was a delightfully colorful day in the twa-let! :) I've also had a couple of episodes of "flu" like symptoms, tiredness. I find that coffee enemas really help at these times...
About 3 weeks into this I could feel my cysts(2) softening. About a month into this I started having really deep pain, unlike the "normal" FBD pain. "Normal" FBD pain, for me, is(WAS!!!) twinges, sparks, shooting pains, achiness, heaviness, fullness of breasts and nipple sensitivity(not the fun kind, the "don't touch me" kind)...So this deep pain was a new experience. Another poster, "Refreshed" reported that her breasts were hurting more for a time, and I also found this, reported in the literature:
"transient increase in breast pain (5.7% incidence)."
So THAT made me feel better:) and THEN my pain changed, I had the pre-pain sensitivity, but no pain(this was in the cystic area. The sensation was like an electrical current, sort of a coming back to life:) & NOW my boobs feel good! I went bra shopping recently, I had to as my old ones were getting downright baggy. I've gone from a 36C to a 36B. I've lost a full cup size of swollen, heavy, painful tissue. And today, when I feel my breast, my cysts have completely lost definition. The area is still "thicker" and there is also a thicker area near my chest wall so I am by no means cured at this point, but I'm getting there:) Overall, my breasts have softened and feel good. I could very well have been on the road to cancer, no more:) I also have an overall feeling of well-being and clarity... :)
And, when supplementing iodine, companion nutrients are a necessity. BTW, I am NO expert on supplementation. I have no idea whether the amounts of these various things I'm taking are "right" or not. The only thing I'm sorta kinda sure on is the C & selenium. BTW, I also eat very nutritiously, I just think that when taking large doses of iodine, supplementing other nutrients as well makes sense. I've been taking 3000 mg. Vit C, Sea Salt water, 200mcg(recently upped to 300) selenium, 200 mg. niacin, concentrace liquid minerals, 400 mg. magnesium, 150 mg. zinc and 200 mg. DIM:
"Several other nutrients/hormones are also important to breast health and can be used in conjunction with Iodoral.), DIM (diindolylmethane the nutrient derived from cruciferous vegetables, for example, is influential in helping the body metabolize estrogen. DIM has been shown to change the way estrogen is metabolized. Metabolism of the natural estrogen estradiol occurs via one of two pathways. The tumor enhancer metabolic pathway, 16 alpha-hydroxylation, is elevated in patients with breast and endometrial cancer and in those at increased risk of such cancers. This increased 16 alpha-hydroxylation activity has been shown to precede clinical evidence of cancer, and it represents a significant risk factor for developing estrogen-dependent tumors.
Conversely, when estrogen veers away from the 16-alpha pathway and takes another route out of the body, the incidence of cancer decreases. This alternate route, which acts as a tumor suppressor metabolic pathway, is called 2-hydroxylation, a process that transforms estrogen into 2-hydroxyestrone (20HEI), an antiestrogen. Healthy individuals not at risk for breast or endometrial cancer bypass the 16-alpha route and instead metabolize estrogen through this preferable pathway. DIM signals the body to metabolize estrogen via the tumor suppressor 2-hydroxylation pathway."
And, my newest supplement is zeta potential water. I didn't know that it was possible to get "energy" from water, but it is:) This water just makes you feel good. The recipe is 0.1 g. baking soda and 0.9 g tripotassium citrate mixed with 1 liter distilled water, the measures are critical. I have found that I am altering my eating habits in order to partake of this water, which should be taken 1 hour before/after eating. I generally eat small meals during the day(a piece of fruit, a handful of nuts here & there)...I am now actually eating meals so that the necessary time will elapse so I can HAVE MORE Z WATER! YES!!! It's THAT good! Here's a good post on it, by Vulcanel:
And I would like to again thank Vulcanel for bringing this information to me, and us. I consider myself to be VERY fortunate to know you. My quality of life has improved, it is a great psychological burden to carry pain. You don't really realize that until it's gone, though. The result of your bright, inquisitive mind and your generousity is that I, and many others, are being healed. And that's going to have a ripple effect:) You have my eternal gratitude:) xxoo!!
I've been meaning to do this for a while, I just really want to help get the word out that WE DO NOT HAVE TO DIE OF Breast Cancer !!!!! Think pink? My ass!
and I am truly SO saddened that this therapy is NOT common knowledge.
And you know what? In todays mass media, living with cancer is portrayed as being "noble". In newsweek a few weeks ago the cover story was on cancer, researchers are thrilled that some cancers can be turned into "chronic" conditions with today's %$#@ing drugs. And did you all know that now they've come up with something called "preventative chemotherapy"? And how about "preventative mastectomies". It all just really makes me sick, makes me wanna cry, makes me want to write REAALLY LOOOOOONG posts.....
i believe we are witnessing one of the most heinous crimes in history with this marriage of medicine and government. criminals. heartless, callous, greedy, stupid criminals.
Hi Wombat - Im very happy for you. Congrats to your recovery :) Its such a nice feeling to have control over your health by knowing the truth. It gives peace of mind in a big way. I am going about it like you - slow to avoid strong detox symptoms. Thanks for yet another great post.
Whatdo you think of Redmonts Real Salt? The Himalayan Salt is sooo expensive LOL
Or could I just use Mediterranean See Salt from Spain? Do you know if this is ok? I bought it at Trader Joe's. Its not refined, but I dont know if there is generally a concern for fluoride??
Monica, Redmonds is good stuff. I use the himilayan to make sole and I put that in my water. It's just pretty, and I like the ritual of sole. But honestly, I think that Redmonds is just as good. Just look out for "anti-caking" agents in salts. I dunno what that stuff is, but it's not salt! :)
That is beautifully written; you should consider putting it in a letter to Dr. Abraham and Dr. Flechas, seriously. They are the real heroes, and would probably take a keen interest in your story, and maybe even love you for it. You might even get on their mailing list and become privy to the latest work. xoxox
Wommie,
thanks so much for posting this personal and detailed account!
You have been and continue to be an inspiration and guiding light
for a great many of us here. Your wit and wisdom, and the grace
with which you respond to people are admirable. Thank you, thank
you for giving so much of yourself to this group! And many thanks
to Vulcanel for being your original inspiration. If not for V.
most of us would be...well, iodine-deficient,anyway!
FANTASTIC post & testimony Wombat!!!! I am SO happy for you. My grandma had a double radical mastectomy in her late 60's (refused chemo/radiation) and beat the cancer, but Breast Cancer in the maternal line has always been a huge concern of mine...even though the only breast pain/tenderness I've ever had has been pre-menstrual (but I haven't experienced any of that since I started iodine).
I don't mean to take away from your wonderful post by posting my Zeta Story, but when I read your post just now, I had a 30 minute 'window' and decided to tag this onto the thread :)
I just wanted to let y'all know, I've been Zeta Water-ing now for around 2 weeks. The reason I started was two-fold. 1> I've never been able to take more than 50mg Lugol's daily for more than a few days because of the bromine/fluoride detox...and I know my body is screaming for the iodine...but NOT for the detox. My kidneys and liver ache a lot after my typical '3 days on' regime...and I was pretty sure that if my blood were 'less sludgy' my kidneys and liver could have an easier job of handling the detox...and I'm really tired of not being able to dose the way I feel I need to. 2> I've always had a very rapid resting pulse, and thick/sludgy blood could obviously be one of the reasons.
So, I did a LOT of research on Zeta Potential and ways to thin/unsludge the blood (I'd already copied FF's original Zeta Water 'recipe' and information)...but just couldn't come up with the reason that a few simple electrolytes HAD to be measured and ingested so durn "specifically". To me, an electrolyte is an electrolyte :\ and I'm sure my body will know what to do with it.
(However I DO understand why the water is recommended to be ingested on an empty stomach...it absorbs better/cleaner and probably has more immediate effect than it would when mixed with food).
But whether it's absorbed slower with food or faster without food, it's my basic 'gut instinct' that it'll still have the same/basic positive effect - just like any other electrolyte or electrolyte blend would do. Do I KNOW that? Nope. But I've asked/emailed for the reason for "critical measurements" and no one has ever responded.
Anyway, I figured I'm a perfect test subject for Zeta Potential/Water because I've ALWAYS had a very rapid pulse. Even in my teens when I was extremely fit and very athletic...(although I never could seem to do long distance anything, as I seemed to poop out sooner than anyone else)...I had a fast 'resting pulse' (high 70's/low 80's). My docs worried about it when I was in jr high, but gave up even mentioning by the time I was in high school, because I was so 'in shape' and apparently in the best of health. As the SAD decade and a half happened (and I gained major weight), my resting pulse was always over 110...sometimes up to 125). One time I joined a fitness club and they did an impromptu stair-step test...my pulse went up to 168. (lol, I felt fine, but the trainer almost had a heart attack!).
Since the last few years 'back on the bandwagon'(and losing 60 pounds) my resting pulse has dropped to the high 80's - low 90's...which doesn't seem that bad to me because it was in the low 80's alot back in the 70's (I'm now 47 for those that don't know). I am not as physically active as I should be, but I get a lot more exercise than I used to...along with a 'couple three' good 5 minute 'aerobic blasts' daily.
Anyway, I wanted to see what the Zeta Water would do...so I mixed a gram n' a half of tripotassium citrate in about a liter of RO water (which is a 1/2 gram more than 'recommended') right before I went to bed one night. I drink about a gallon & quarter of water daily...and I used the Zeta Water just like my regular water with absolutely no regard to when I drank it or when I ate. (I used my regular RO water ice cubes). At the end of the next day I was sitting at the 'puter thinking it was WAY too soon to do any type of pulse testing or see any kind of result (I'd only been drinking it for a day and a couple of swigs the night before)...but I took my pulse anyway. I like to fell off my chair - resting pulse? SIXTY EIGHT. Whoa-wowee-zowee...that like to scared me half to death (lol) My pulse hasn't been THAT low since grade school. That night when I brushed my teeth (I use a very firm toothbrush and scrub like hell), I saw too much bright red blood (I sometimes see a little, but this was too much). I was happy to note that it clotted quickly, but I also noted that I felt I'd overdone it.
The next day I switched to the one gram of potassium citrate/1 liter of water and I've continued drinking a gallon and a 1/4-1/2 daily...with no regards to when I eat. My resting pulse has been averaging around 78 for the past week or two. I was able to up my Lugol's to 100mg daily for three days without kidney/liver pain...but I had to back down again because of the extreme exhaustion and pretty-much-disabling brain fog.
As frustrated as I am that I've been "lugoling' since the end of February and STILL have symptoms of fluoride/bromine detox, I'm VERY pleased with the strong and immediate effect of the Zeta Water. Thinner/less sludgy blood seriously assisted my kidneys/liver...and even though they couldn't get the toxins out fast enough to prevent the exhaustion/brainfog, they WERE able to handle a vast amount of toxins without becoming tender or painful! (Just fyi, I know that I have a very high storehouse of bromide/fluoride toxins; I've always been a bread FANATIC, obsessive strawberry eater, and I had an open ended 'script for Xanax -bromine- for 2 years, and was on Prozac -fluoride- for 15 years).
Does tripotassium citrate in water effect the "blood sludge" and make one's blood as thin as it should be...hence positively affecting every organ and system in one's body? If my experiences/results are any measure of proof, I say YES!
Just sayin' hey. Missed you. Noticed a couple posts (and read them) only recently. But I'm guessing you've been busy managing your glittery world outside here and around you - saving the good stuff for us as always.
Thanks for reporting in. Could it be that you might be one who has already worked on "cleaning house" so that any detox is minimal (symptomatically) but improvements wide (from the cerebral to more obvious physical energy increase)? I'm either falling into that category, or I'm just oblivious to any noticable detox, persay.
Yay, Uny, good for you and your SO detailed testimony... :) You're so much more analytical than I am. I just sez...meks me feel good, I like:)
Honey, quit brushing your teeth so hard. Start oil-pulling, seriously. It is the BEST thing I've ever done for dental hygiene. Plaque DOES NOT GROW on my teeth. It's also very meditative & nice, you can do it while on CZ. Just be careful what posts you read while pulling, you could spew all over the keyboard..... :)
Hey, Sammo, I've been OPing now for close to a year so I've used them all:) I change all the time, I go for at least 20 mins. My faves are evening primrose & hemp, I guess. Sesame, too. I LOVE OP!!!!!!
