I was diagnosed with chlamydia when i was 6 weeks pregnant. I took the meds and got retested and the test came back negative. Well im now 27 weeks pregnant and the doc. tested me again just to be "safe". Does this mean that it may be recurring after treatment? Is that possibe? Im scared now that the test is going to come back positive because I have noticed some strange discharge that is yellowish/greenish in color but ony every now and then. Could this happen?
Was your partner treated as well?...and did you refrain from having sex until you were both done with the entire course of treatment? Reinfection is definitely a possibility if you were not both successfully treated. Also, the most effective drugs for treating chlamydia are not used for pregnant women...and there have been reported cases of resistant strains of chlamydia. Given the discharge you've described...it's probably a good thing that your doctor has tested you again. It is also possible that you have another type of infection.
after i found out i was infected i haven't been with him sexually at all. he never got treated and i didn't want to reinfect myself. thats why i was wondering if it could be recurrent. i was restested after my treatment and the test came back negative. but like i said im having the same discharge again and i don't understand why. i haven't been with anyone sexually since i've been treated.
There is obviously something going on as a yellow-green discharge is not normal and indicates some sort of infection. Did they screen you for other infections/STDs as well...or just for chlamydia? Chlamydia will sometimes occur simultaneously with gonnorhea...and the treatments for them are different. Also...keep in mind that there are different tests for chlamydia and some are more accurate than others. Click on the link below for my post that discusses this and then click on the follow-up post below that post for a link to a website that describes the different tests.
If you are experiencing the same symptoms as you had when you tested positive for chlamydia...definitely stay on top of this and insist on the most sensitive test as chlamydia can result in complications during your pregnancy and also infect your baby! You might also request that they test you for other STDs and any possible infections that are consistent with your symptoms.
