  • Turmeric working wonders   R by  English John  6 year  17,561  Folliculitis
I have scalp folliculitis, for the last 10 years. I've been on many antibiotics, which always fail eventually, and the infection comes back with vengence, painfully. I've therefore turned to natural remedies.

The folliculitis causes about 1cm wide spots, filled with puss, very sore, and they are slowly joining together.

From 3 days ago, I tried a teaspoon of tumeric, mixed in a little cold water, 3 times a day.

The results are amazing. When I tried anti b's, I would see no results for 5-6 days. With turmeric, within 24hrs, my swelling had halved, and now, 4 days later, although I still have the red marks, the swelling has gone, 100%. I'm amazed, and the happiest man on earth!

I'm sure it will not cure me, but the pain and irritation relief is unbelievable. I hope it continues, and if anyone else tries this method, please let me know, and good luck.

I read about this method in boil forums. I have used cold water as I believe turmeric will work naturally in normal conditions. If you use hot water, also please let me know.

Are you taking it by mouth or mixing it and spreading it?

Just by mouth, mixing a teaspoon with a little water, and down in one.

I found that adding more water, to dilute it further didn't alter the strength of the flavour, so it's easier to use about a third of a mug of water, and get it dwn in one gulp.

After reading so many posts here and on other sites about turmeric working wonders, I decided I have to try this natural remedy for my scalp folliculitis. I was somewhat concerned about all the user complaints of how "nasty" the turmeric and water suspension tastes and it's grittiness since the spice does not dissolve. Instead of attempting to mix the turmeric with water or fruit juice, I mixed it with organic tomato juice (that added a little vitamin C as well to the mix) and a pinch of raw Sea Salt (this also added some minerals). Hey! It didn't taste too badly at all! I imagine that anyone avoiding salt could use some organic lemon juice or ACV instead, just to give it a little bite to over-ride that of the turmeric. I hope this suggestion helps others, and I hope starting on turmeric helps me :-)

Thanks for the idea to try the turmeric. You can also buy turmeric in capsule form--not sure if it would work as well as drinking. I'm going to try both. I've tried so many natural AND medicinal cures. A month ago I made a scalp spray of my own based on all the information I've read (completely natural) and within two weeks my foliculitis is almost completely gone. I don't know if it was just time for it to finally leave:) or if I've discovered a simple cure. I'd like others to try it and give me their results and feedback. For anyone who is interested in trying it email me and I'll send you a small spray bottle.

Hi Rose, I'm about 5-6 days down the road with turmeric, my results are as follows.

There was an immediate big effect in reducing swelling, like I've never seen before. Yesterday, 2 bumps came back, one quite sore, but nowhere near what I previously had. Also, a lot of very small white bumps which I had in hair follicles went immediately. These were the white bumps I had originally all those years ago when this thing started.

I've also been rubbing on some tea tree lotion the last 2 days, but I'm going to stop this for now as I can't get a clear idea of which (turmeric or tea tree oil), is affecting me in which way.

I'd love to try your formula, please can you mail me at speniebay@hotmail.com

        Many Thanks

I emailed you so we can connect on an address to send. One comment on tea tree. It is a VERY strong essential oil and I have had the experience of having my skin peel when using it. It can actually aggrivate skin instead of healing it. It probrably works for some, but I'd stick with the tumeric since you had such an immediate response. Have you tried to make a liquid out of the tumeric and put it directly on your folliculitis?

The folliculitis seams to have come back with a vengance, unfortunately. It's so unpredictable.

I'm still on the turmeric, but thinking I should maybe stop taking it.

I haven't applied it directly, because my hair is blonde, and I don't want orange patches.

I'll follow your advice & hold back on the tea tree oil. It's actually a tea tree lotion I've been using.

              English John,

I would have to say be careful with anything you take by mounth. I have not read up on turmeric to know the long term effects. The topical treatment route really gets to the source of the problem.

I will have to say looking in the mirror today my Folliculitis looks better then it has in a long time. I was trying a suggestion from another member using asprin mixed with rubbing alc did that for a week but did not see any noticable results... :(

You want to know something odd though. I have been taking a break and not using anything on my skin for the past 2 weeks now (something I do a few times a year to let me body just get in check) and it actually is show signs of improvment to my utter amazement. The only thing in my life that has changed is I have begun running daily. Usually, I run over lunch even when it's really hot outside I sweat like crazy. I am wondering if there is some sort of link to this daily sweat session and my noticing improvement. Could my sweating be cleansing my pores of whatever this disease does to cause the inflamation? Going to keep running and sweating to find out. Will post more as I go!

      Hi,

I'm not too sure if its too soon to write about this. I discovered i had scalp foliculitis in 2008. I travelled to Egypt for the first time in 2008. and Within a few days i noticed a few yellow pustultes on my scalp. I figured it was just some minor thing But its been 4 years now and i've struggled with this persistent illness. I've undergone a number of treatments and have spent a lot of money in the process as well. The only thing that actually worked was antibiotics. Even that was not a 100%. Anyway, i think the story remains the same as everyone else.the moment i got off the antibiotics, the sores would return with a vengeance.

About 9 days back i stumbled upon one of these forums and decided to give it a try. A friend of mine grows organic turmeric on her farm. So i started taking a teaspoon with water once in the morning and once at night. In addition to this, i also crush 2 cloves of garlic and swallow that with a sip of water. I've been doing this for the past 9 Days. And i must say, that the results are good and heartening. The first 4-5 Days were bad since i had just gone off Antibiotics, but slowly the boils started drying up. I could say the improvement is about 80% at the moment. I have not noticed any new Boils yet. Just a couple left on the scalp which i'm praying disappear too. I did lose some hair over the past 4 years as well. But i'm lucky ihave a thick head of hair and its not cause much damage.Anyway i've just started using Dove Hair Fall Rescue shampoo which seems to have helped.

I have decided, i'm going to keep this up. Btw, i also found this herbal antibiotic capsules, which is basically Neem leaves and flowers in a crushed form. and have been taking that as well. So In total, i'm using Turmeric, Garlic and Neem. Btw, Initially the Turmeric was tough to down, so i added a bit of honey, but i found better if i just took the turmeric.

I'm still hoping this does help. I really dont mind taking a bit of turmeric and a couple of cloves of Garlic all my life and everyday as these are natural and will only help the immune system. I'll keep you'll posted on my developments.

I'm glad that people come out and share their results. This is really helpful. Keeping my fingers crossed.

And in any case, thank you all for sharing the wonderful powers of Natures gifts, Turmeric and Garlic :)
