There’s a lot of different opinions. Some US doctors say 6 to 12 cm is normal, but the most comprehensive survey I know of suggested it was a lot higher.
This was done in Germany on over 2000 people and showed an average size of 13.9cm, with a range from 9.4 – 21.3 cm, depending on body size, sex, age.
Attenuation values are a way of measuring the consistency of the liver (or anything else) using ultrasound. Diffuse fatty change simply means “general”, as opposed to concentrated in a small area. It’s not uncommon if you drink a lot of alcohol, are very overweight or have diabetes.
